Brownlee brothers starting the triathlon right now, good chance for a gold and silver in this event, but it looks like the rest of the field are just going to work together to make sure they don't get to the podium. How very petty.

Anyone else enjoying the javelin throw?

The following events should be removed from the Olympics:

- All equestrian events (especially Dressage)
- Modern Pentathlon
- Rhythmic Gymnastics
- About 2 or 3 swimming distances in each stroke (we don't need 5 Freestyle distances)
- Swimming Individual Med. Relay
- Kerin in the track cycling
- Men's Trap Shooting (not the double trap)
- A couple of Canoeing/Kayaking sprints

Then the following need to be put in:

- 20/20 Cricket
- Rugby Sevens
- 5-a-side-football
- Squash
- Karate
- Baseball (a shorter form?)

discuss.

This would remove approx. 15-20 gold medal opportunities. I'm not just saying these sports because I'm British, we'd lose 2 or 3 golds through this

:(

Lol, just a reminder, if any were needed, just how hated we Brit's are around the world.

One day, probably not in my lifetime, the rest of the world will forgive us for the Empire.

delicious.

Boohoo.

To be fair, all of the attention on him was because it was patently obvious he wasn't fit.

Then he should have said so and Britain could have entered a younger prospect to get some experience in to be ready for 2016. If Idowu went in injured hoping to heal in time it was very selfish of him.

call me crazy but I'm not putting Triathalon tactics down to bitterness about the Empire.

I can't wait to hear Idowu's excuse. He fucked up his preperation so much. It'll be one of the biggest stories after the games from GB athletes.

lol...go and chew on some garlic, you bitter little Frenchie.

Who's bitter now? If there's any tactics it's not because they hate the English for their empire (why would French,Italian, Spanish, German etc... triathletes give a shit about the British empire?) it's because they're the favorites, stop mixing sports with politics.

I wish the media would just ignore it and let him fade into obscurity.

he should have been dropped before he even jumped. Missing the training camp was a shocking decision, and pretending to be fit, and thus stopping a fit jumper from competing, is selfish. As Zomg said we could have had a young jumper to get experience for 2016.

It was always going to happen, all he needed to do was suck it and comply with what the team wanted him to do, he made it worse on himself by being isolated

There you have it, he has a chronic injury in his right leg and requires surgery. Fuck him. He should have relinquished his place in the team.

God, watching the athletics reminds me how cold the two weeks were that I spent in an English summer during my last Euro vacation.

If Team GB don't take him back he'll just switch to another side, like one of the diver who won a medal for us in Beijing is now on Team Poland.

jesus, that bad? Fucking twat. Team GB should just have not let him compete, and given a youngster a chance at an Olympic games to prepare for Rio.

The following events should be removed from the Olympics:

- All equestrian events (especially Dressage) - I don't even know what dressage means so sure. They won't remove all equestrian events as it's kinda popular and old.
- Modern Pentathlon - I doubt they would consider this, but I would be ok with it
- Rythmic Gymnastics - Yes
- About 2 or 3 swimming distances in each stroke (we don't need 5 Freestyle distances) - No, swimming is good and exciting and long distance freestyle races are very technical
- Swimming Individual Med. Relay - No, this is an exciting relay. And again, people like swimming. If anything I would add 50m butterfly, breast, and back.
- Kerin in the track cycling - Don't know what this is, so sure
- Men's Trap Shooting (not the double trap) - Don't know what exactly this is, but I like shooting, so no
- A couple of Canoeing/Kayaking sprints - Yes

Then the following need to be put in:

- 20/20 Cricket - I don't like cricket, but understand it's a world sport. If it's the "fast" version, then sure, but what team sport would you remove to include this?
- Rugby Sevens - It's coming in Rio 2016
- 60m Sprint (?) - I'm ok with this.
- 5-a-side-football - I love football, but won't happen. Not enough countries play it and I'm not sure there's a world tournament for 5 a side football.
- Squash - No
- Karate - Not sure. I'm all for more combat sports in the olympics, but I would need to see how Karate competitions are. TKD is the best example, not the best combat sport there is.
- Baseball (a shorter form?) - No. They tried baseball, no one cared and the stadiums were empty.

discuss.

I would take out diving, synchronized swimming, and trampolin. If it was all up to me and I was in charge, I would also remove badminton.

I would include BJJ, K1, and MMA Pancrase style to replace them :D

I think for Rio 2016 they will include 3 more categories in women's wrestling, rugby 7, and golf.

To be fair you knew from before the first jump he was injured. How come you may ask? When he isn't injured he always colors his hair bright red, with a bright blue tongue.

Human control would essentially say everything from nosepicking to chess to remote control car racing are sports.

As to artistic scores I agree there is a degree of uncertainty. Still very few medals...possibly none....are given just on that. Usually the vast majority of the medals are given to the person with greatest technical merit.

yes, technically. I think the main thing that decides whether you're in the olympics is the size of the sport and how good the official body is at negotiating with the IOC.
