Glad I started following the decathlon, awesome discipline. I'm in awe of guys like Easton. There seems to be a real sense of team spirit and friendship with all the athletes as well. My discovery of the Olympics. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to get that much media attention, which is strange seeing how hard and demanding it is.
Van Alphen got 4th place and had a decent chance at the bronze, but he underperformed at the javelin throw, and his medal chances were gone. If you have a single bad or subpar performance, you're basically done. Ruthless discipline, love it.
