You are definitely reading to much into it. The guy is stuffed to the brim with confidence. The exact opposite of what you are 'seeing' man. And wanting to go out at the peak of your career in sports is not some unique thing dude. You are reaching very very very hard with this.

Brazil won't get much better.

We might win some more medals, but our best chances are basically team sports (football, volleyball, basketball and handball). We won't have any significant better performance on swimming, athletics or any other sports that give away medals.

It still could be our best performance ever, but that's a low bar to set. Somewhere between Greece 2004 and Spain 1992.

I forget people are obsessed with the Bolt persona (because you do know that is all that you're seeing, right?). It reaches the point where I can't even say anything that runs counter to the typical narrative surrounding him.

Insecurity is applicable to nearly every single living being on the planet. However I don't agree with the type and degree you're claiming he has. If anything I think he's probably the least ego driven. The persona that Usain has stems predominantly from the culture he was brought up around imo. In a lot of the Caribbean Islands if you live there for a while or even on holiday (and are able to understand the exchanges) you'll notice that a lot of banter revolves around hyperbole. Especially when it comes to individuals, a girl won't just describe herself as pretty she'll describe herself as 'the greatest female that you ever had the luxury to witness' or something to that effect. That's all it is, banter, in some cases as with anything some people actually believe their own banter but for the most part it's harmless intentional amusement. That's my opinion or theory anyway.
 
Adidas paid £80m to be the official sponsor of the Olympics. Casual (and even the observant) viewers would surely be surprised by that. The bright green Nike spikes that virtually all track and field athletes wear are sort of synonymous with the games. Most teams wear Nike tracksuits which are visible at the medal ceremonies. For the life of me I can't understand what Adidas is getting out of sponsoring the Olympics. What a waste of money.

Well, they got me to purchase quite a nice Adidas-branded polo shirt. So there's that.
 
NBC really did shit job providing varied coverage. Every time I tune in to the delayed nightly showing its always some fucking damn shit water or gymnastic event. If you do have cable you got a terrible showcase of the Olympic games from them.

All branding outside of authorised sponsors is not allowed.

I just realized that as well...It's even more funny that Nike's ad's are about the Olympics but in a stealth manner.

All required sporting equipment is considered exempt, which is how Nike pulled a fast one with the fluorescent yellow shoes everyone is talking about. Good article on it -

And I wouldn't be surprised if Team USA get into trouble with those t-shirts. They're not necessary equipment so it could be considered ambush marketing which there are strict rules against. Not that they'll really care.

That's why I have problems believing that he'll have what it takes 4 years from now. He blamed his bad back for his poor performances earlier this year. That back isn't going to get any better. I hope i'm wrong since he's by far the most entertaining athlete at the Olympics.

Yeah. After home olympics small slump was expected. In Rio I think that China will get pretty much same amount medals as in Beijing and in 2020 they will get more medals than ever. With 2008 olympics a lot of training infastructure was built and money was injected into sport programs. Also with ever growing living standarts in China they will get more and more people into sports that way too. I fear the day that they will host Winter olympics lol...

Every time I see shirts and whatever other clothing like this appear straight after an athlete or team wins their match I always wonder how many incorrect items of clothing go wasted like somewhere there's probably a warehouse of gold jackets with 'Federer 2012 Olympic champion'

I'm with you man. If he does it again in 2016 (winning the 100/200) then that would be pretty much untouchable.
 
Honestly, whats the point with all these events that my country is not winning gold in?! I mean, who the hell wants to watch some other country win gold in some boring sport my country do not care about:S They should just remove those events altogether.

Forget her unfortunate name. She is the most efficient attacker in the entire tournament. Her, Logan Tom and Lindsey Berg (hopefully - she's day to day) are the reasons they're number 1 in the world and are going to win gold.
