Big day coming up for Norway. First of all, we're at least guaranteed a silver in the women's handball final. Should be an awesome match against Montenegro. Secondly, the javelin throw finals is today, and our Thorkildsen is the reigning Olympic champion. He's not as good as he was in the years around Beijing, but still a serious gold contender. Lastly, cross country cycling for women is today. It's not exactly a sport I follow, but from what I gather, Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå is one of the favorites to win it. She won it in 2004, but had to give up in 2008 when she was cycling while pregnant, and with a broken rib. Hopefully we can climb that medal statistics a little today. Anything less than at least two medals will leave me very disappointed.

Just got back in from being out in Cardiff. Had a bunch of Korean fans carrying around a MASSIVE Korean flag whilst chanting and beating a drum. Was pretty cool. :D

May have only been a bronze but damn did they know how to celebrate it. Shine on you enthusiastic Koreans. :)

I guess you are talking about best korea.

Watching more highlights of today, it seems that Chinese clothing brands are branching out. Spain's basketball jerseys are Chinese, the South African track team is also Chinese and there are a lot of others to I have noticed.

Its going to be sad when its all over, the press will go back to talking us all into deeper depression and economic misery, over the past two weeks business has been up nicely and most are happier imho due to not being bombarded by slit your wrists news headlines everyday.

Tokyo probably wont get 2020 for olympics

for the 2016 bid, Madrid even beat out Tokyo. also the winter olympics are being held in south korea for 2018 so having back to back olympics both in the same region is unlikely.

I'm fine with both. If you go for geographical spread, then Asia just had it with Beijing, so Istanbul makes sense. But then since when have international sport governing bodies based anything on logic. A lot will depend on how good the bids are and what facilities are in place etc.

If its Tokyo I might go and watch, we have family over there. If its Istanbul then the time zone is fairly convenient for the UK, so don't mind really

It's not Istanbul, people. It's Constantinople. And yeah, would rather be held at Constantinople over Tokyo.

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Yea the days after the olympics are usually depressing due to the fact everyone goes back to their daily, boring routine. Can't wait till 2016

Nobody cares about the 800 except for those who ran it in high school. It's easily the most awe inspiring performance this Olympics so far. My mind was blown when I found out that his previous world was done with a rabbit.
That was my exact reason for watching the 800. "I ran this in high school...it must be interesting."
Hasn't been decided yet.

It will be either Tokyo, Madrid, or Instanbul. I'm rooting for Instanbul to get it.
Istanbul would be my choice. It would continue the recent trend of picking more diverse locations from emerging countries, and the city itself is one of the most beautiful and interesting in the world.

Those race walkers look like road warriors, walking like heroes.

It's part of the race, there are judges to decide that.

NBC commentators were addressing that exact same issue just minutes ago. They mentioned that slow motion replay does show that most of the time these guys have both feet off the ground for a few milliseconds but the human eye can't detect it. He also seemed to be against the use of replay and then glorified the sport calling it "poetry in motion".

If it's a few miliseconds it doesn't really matter, it's part of the race to try not to get caught.

Using video replay for race walking would be stupid imo

I'm still annoyed that Morgan Unceny didn't finish the rest of the race... I know it was frustrating to fall again like that, but she still could have shown some American spirit by picking herself up and finishing the race. Runners from other countries have experienced similar falls and they still managed to finish the race. She wasn't disqualified or anything (correct me if I'm wrong), so she still could have finished...
