Always get a little sad when the Olympics end. Where will I see hardcore women's indoor volleyball now? But then that feeling goes away and it shouldn't.

Urrrgh God. I had this weird dream last night that the Closing Ceremony featured Russell Brand singing the Beatles through a megaphone before Fatboy Slim played Rockafella Skank in front of a giant octopus.

As a Brit it would of been perfect to end on Eric Idle.

Certain things like extinguishing the flame passing the baton onto Rio etc, should of been saved for after the Para-Olympic games.

Certain issues with volume and mics dieing seemed to be a problem, as well as choosing a weird show flow. But other than that it was good.

Will the Olympics leave a legacy to the GB though?

You do realise that volleyball is played pretty much tru out the whole year. If you are really intrested you can check out the official volleyball streaming and archiving site. They stream most major international events live, including world championships and the European champions league.

Ohhhh gawwwwd... I apparently set my alarm and woke up with the mentality that I was gonna watch some athletics this morning.

Back to sleep...

Premier league starts next weekend I think.
And the Paralympics start on the 29th. Gonna have archery, judo, volleyball, cycling, swimming, etc.

There's no Kim#10 in the Champions League this season tho :(

Nope. The winner of the Champions League of last year "Fenerbahce" was defeated in the semi final of the Turkish play offs. The first two team qualified directly, but Turkey still got one wildcard spot. The CEV awarded that spot to Galatasaray, because they were mad at Fenerbahce (who in their eyes misbehaved or something when they won). So no Kim Yeon Koung in the Champions League this year. They will be competing and probably winning the CEV cup.

Actually there was a lot of fuss this year about Kim. Apperantly Korean athletes are slaves of their Korean clubs (who are owned by huge Korean companies). She is considered the best player of the world, so when the season ended last year her Korean club decided to sell her off to some club in Azerbaycan for a shitload of money. She declined because she was happy in Turkey, eventho she would make less money. But her Korean club still wanted to push thru. Then she threathed to stop playing volleyball or play for another country. She extended contract now for 2 years by Fenerbahce for $1.2 million a year.

Still no Kim in the champions league. On the otherhand Vakifbank (number 2 of Turkish League) transfered Saori Kimura, she is like one of Japans most populair athletes. Still wonder how they pulled that off

London seems so weird right now

It's like Sunday morning shopping after a big Saturday out

The Olympics were great. I'm inspired to do something for 2016. Prob weightlifting or kayaking
Take the BCU One Star Kayak course and work your way up from that if you really have the desire to go into kayaking. Then join a club, take the more intensive Two Star and Three Star awards and that will give you the kind of experience you need to take it the next level. Be aware though, kayaking is not cheap, initial expenditure will set you back quite a bit, but take it from someone who loves kayaking; it's worth every penny.

Vuelta a Espana starts this Saturday. Contador's comeback.

It begins.

AP: Belarusian shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk stripped of gold medal for doping

Funny reading the BBC's story on her winning now:

Nadzeya Ostapchuk shocked world and Olympic champion Valerie Adams to win the women's shot put final.

The Belarusian, who has improved her personal best three times this summer, threw 21.36m with her third attempt.
Hmmm...

Are you allowed to participate in two completely different sports (in theory)? Swimming and archery for example.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ic_Games#Dual_sport_and_multi-sport_Olympians

Sometimes they competed in two disciplines at the same Games; such instances are noted.

...although I can't see any of those notifications. And I don't see mention of Rebecca Romero (who went from rowing one olympics to cycling in the next). I note that she's moving on to ironman triathlons - could we have a woman at the next Olympics to do what the Brownlees have been doing on the men's side?

British discus thrower Brett Morse has told his Twitter followers he had been "stupid and immature" after accusing Belarusian women's shot put gold medallist Nadzeya Ostapchuk of doping.

Morse made the claim on Monday after he failed to qualify for the Olympics discus final and also tweeted: "I've had a bad day but it could be worse, I could look like Ostaptchuk [sic]."

Dat vindication.

Team USA better not be involved in any of these shenanigans.

It really fucks me off, actually. That Kiwi woman was robbed of her rightful moment in the Olympic stadium in front of everyone and the Belarusian took that away from her, cynically. That's infuriatingly dickish, and I'm not even Kiwi.

This is why a lot of us a so against former dopers, too.

I think every medal winner gets tested automatically so any other results should show up by the end of this week.

The guy on the back of the taxi of baby spice had a good view :-D . also what the fuck was Mel C wearing, fucking ugly. Victoria looked super fine, damn I wanne hit that.

I remember thinking that the woman was doping when I watched her throw.

Good for the Kiwi champion, she deserves the gold, I just wish there was a way to redo the medal ceremony!

I don't even know how a person can sit there and be so happy about winning the gold medal knowing that they are fucking cheaters. Some people have no pride I guess.

I assume it's been ongoing, so if they're only showing up a shotputter now (from Monday) that suggests that the first week's been fairly clean - although that said, it does also depend on the nature of the tests, it might just happen that the specific drug she took has a test that takes less time to do.
