That does nothing. It pops up a small window that says "Shipping: Not Available. Store Pickup: Not Available." There is nothing to click on.

I thought I read you could play it while charging. Of course, that would limit your freedom with the controller a bit and add some weight to it.
 
Update going.. going.. going...

Got mine at BB midnight launch, relatively smooth affair. I pre-ordered online with store pickup when they first opened. I got there at 11:15 and there were about 50 people ahead of me, they ran out of non-pre-order units before I got to the door. Thought they would have a lot more for doing a midnight launch.

The guy in front of me got the last Wii U sack, I wanted a sack. >:(

Super Mario U isn't getting mediocre reviews at all, check out everywhere else. As for Zombii U, watching their review, it sure sounds like the guy wanted a fast action game, and when he didn't get it he tried to never use any of his limited inventory, saving it - and then complained that all you do is whack zombies with the cricket bat.
 
Anyone tried taking screenshots yet? Also, can they be saved and be posted to the internet? I guess we would need a thread for that.

Oh wow, they changed it (broke it?) - for me that brought up the screen that let you choose what stores are in your area and see the inventory (store pickup still wasn't available, you had to go into the store and hope it was still in stock).
 
Went to walmart in gainesville, fl a little after midnight. Only 6 people in line. Picked up a deluxe system. They didn't have Mario or Zombie U so I guess I'll be going out in the morning. Totally unorganized there. I heard the clerks debating how many they should sell as they had 26 layaway orders. It looked like they had more than 26 left as I was the last in line and they still had plenty of boxes, two systems per box.
 
For those wondering, yes the blue bar for the update goes that slow the entire way to 100%. (for those hoping that maybe half of the bar is the slow download, and the second half is the install of the update that moves much faster)

It does the install of the update afterwards with a brand new blue bar...it takes about 3 minutes.
 
Question...

I have a preorder at Target with one of those cards. How long will they hold it for? If I wait a day will they still have it?
 
Forgot to post my story:


Went to the only 24 hour wal mart and it was a easy time, got there at midnight and went to layaway and it was closed so I went walking to the electronics department when I saw a guy leading a whole group of people to the front of the store.
Figured that was the line so I followed and then the manager told us there were only 6 available if you didn't pre order and there were about 10+ people so I think some were pissed.
I said "hey I pre ordered and showed my receipt" and he told me and this other guy to go to the layaway desk.
Then paid $333 and was out the door :D

Maybe is probably the best anyone can offer. Technically you should have a day or two but you are at the mercy of store employees. They could sell it anyways or one could say hey I didn't get to preorder in but buttface didn't show up so its mine now

Pretty sure there's no way to transfer a Nintendo Network ID between systems yet. Could be wrong, would have to see what happens when someone tries to link an already existing ID.

So damn jealous. That's my exact preorder set.

I'm stuck watching this stream of guys who, frankly, aren't very good at Mario gaming apparently.

I wish this melatonin would kick-in. But I can't take any more, lest I oversleep my shop's opening. Not a happy camper at the moment.

Slow-down! Mario is not a racing game. It is not Sonic - you'll go much farther if you don't try to sprint through everything!

Ugh.

Obviously, it's time-sensitive and store-dependent, but I know that the Target I spoke with had taken the pre-orders into account, and limited their number of consoles available tomorrow accordingly.

Tell me about it.......I remember that the Darksider guys were saying they were doing a few things with the controller that they couldn't talk about and it wasn't supposed to just be the map and weapons. Whatever though.
 
This update is going to take me all night. I have a 10 Mbps connection (and that's on a good day). :/

Judging by the blue blob, I'm maybe 5% done.
 
For anyone who has it, can you see if Wii games work with the Activity Log? (Don't have to do a system transfer, just start a disk and then goto the AL) I don't think this will be the case because of how BC works but wanna know anywayz.

Still 8 hours till 10AM here. Gonna go to bed within the hour I hope.

Also: lol everyone getting black. White will become rare at this rate.
 
As my Wii U is updating, I'll post my story.

I went to a Meijer first, and was the fourth "group" in line. They only had 4 Deluxes and Basics each, so I thought I was good. But one group ended up buying 2 Deluxes, leaving me out of luck.

So I went to the Walmart next door for the heck of it and looked around Electronics, saw no one, then asked in Layaway if there were any systems left. They told be a cash register up front was selling them, so I hurried my way back up, noticing other people from Meijer looking around. As I went up, I saw a worker carrying one Deluxe edition toward the front. As I got in line, she placed it in the cart. The other people didn't see this and left the store. I ended up snagging what might have been the last one there.

It was completely random luck that I got it. Also I went back to Meijer to buy Mario Bros. and saw all four Basic systems stuck in the case.

The Wii and the Wii U are entirely different beasts so far as developing the UI through the lifetime of the system goes. It's why they reserved so much memory and space for the OS.

It was just like a dozen people at Fred Meyer. Everyone got deluxe ones. I got mine, Mario, 4000 wii points, and an amazing bargain bin Wii game I forgot even existed....klonoa remake.

Now to commence unboxing and updates.
