I can compare RAM speed and know one is better, I can't exactly do the same for games let alone exclusive ones. Also when people compare features they do it for ones that already exist (How much is this like LIVE?), for ones that don't exist elsewhere (Miiverse) it's hard to understand why you want or need it until you actually have it.

And of course demographics. Miiverse is 100% people with the console so obviously there's more positivity since these are the people who decided to spend $300 on the new Nintendo console and play it before everyone else. The topics are all Nintendo topics. You won't see console wars at all.

Sounds like it could go either way from what people are saying. Some places have tons, other none. Id give a call around and check places like sears/sams club/ costco if you can! Good luck!
 
The Miiverse and Wara Wara Plaza are extremely effective in gauging game popularity. Nintendo land and Super Mario U have alot of activity, but surprisingly so does ZombiU. After being put off by the negative reviews, I'm seriously considering buying ZombiU now.
 
Just got my system. First thing I want to say is it's about time someone had the good sense to make a dual analog controller where you can activate the analog sticks and face buttons simultaneously without deforming your hand. Very positive first impression.

It depends on region. Some areas have some, some locations are completely sold out.

Probably, everything will be sold out after Black Friday if you're in Los Estados. But it won't be like the Wii where it's out of stock for subjective decades.

Since I'm not on call tonight, I'm going to try some range testing tonight (in addition to some serious Mario time). I remember exactly where I left the large tape measure at my place - which is a rarity.. I usually couldn't tell you where it is.

Test #1 for tonight: Can I go up one floor and outside onto a different balcony?
Test #2: The first floor bathroom, where I can see the living room TV in the mirror.

We shall see!

I'm not as optimistic. Before I was member in Neogaf, I used to visit a Nintendo fans only forum. Many of them just spill stupid shit because "Nintendo isn't about hardcore anymore" or something similar. I think it's easier to chill in Neogaf, honestly.

It's going to be interesting to see how much Nintendo moderates.

If your Wii U is collecting dust you probably aren't on Miiverse though.
 
Do people think they'll be using miiverse actively in a few months once the honeymoon has passed? Don't you think for practical info and impressions etc, a good GAF |OT| will be better?

For practical info yes but for the typical community play OT stuff? Miiverse might win out there.

I think I would. For any given Wii U game, there will be a great chance that the community on Miiverse will be larger and more active than a GAF OT, since it gathers users from other forum communities and people who don't use them at all. At least, there's big potential here.

I think Miiverse works extremely well right now, but I really can't say how long it will last. I liked the Everybody Votes Channel and the Check Mii Out Channel at first, but the novelty quickly wore off.

There's a sort of immediacy that comes with Miiverse. It allows you to give immediate feedback while you're playing the game. Did you just see a cool part in the game? Just press the Home Button and post a screenshot to Miiverse or draw a picture about it.

An official thread might be better for detailed information, but I think Miiverse is a suitable substitute for the general public.

I hope the enthusiasm persists, though. I'm a little worried that the service might degrade in a few years. But I think that Miiverse will be sustainable as new Communities are built for new games. Just imagine when a Super Smash Bros. Community is opened.
 
One thing I really love is the weight distribution in the gamepad, especially while on the charge dock. You can easily still interact with it, even the stiff power button, with little worry of pushing it over.

I liked being about to use the stylus with the dock and not feel like it was going to tip over


Also, I generally like the vibe of using the Wii U, is this what I missed skipping out on the Wii?

There are no media functions in Wii U yet, or have been announced. Whatever you could do on the Wii, you can maybe do that in Wii mode on the Wii U, but that is all at the moment.

If miiverse can offer me discussions about Nintendo games, without the usual negativity/trolling, I'll probably enjoy my entertainment more. Maybe I'm getting old.

I will. It works. Got stuck in a boss on ninja gaidenn went to miiverse to post it, and in the span of 3 min got 8 answers with strategy and encouragement without ending my game. It was awesome.
 
Ok, so I recently read about how in the event your Wii U breaks, you have to deauthorize the old system by calling Nintendo. I can understand why some people are mad about that but I'm not the type who really needs cross system downloads. What I want to know is, is my purchase history still recorded with my Nintendo Network ID so that if for some reason I was forced to get a replacement system, as long as I call Nintendo Cust Svc and have them deauthorize the broken/stolen console first, once I log onto my new Wii U with my NNID and go into the e-shop, all my purchases will be lined up and ready to be redownloading from my shop history again, correct?
 
Saw a new shipment of WiiU's at Target, couldn't resist!!! My wife is going to hail a shit storm on me when she finds out!

What are some creative ways on telling her of my new purchase?
 
All right, GAF, I need a game recommendation. I think I have enough gift card and trade credit to get one game.
I have NSMBU, Nintendoland, and Scribblenauts.
I own Mass Effect 3 on PC and AC3 on 360, though I'm not opposed to double-dipping. (I wouldn't complain about having a handheld version of either game's multiplayer, and I haven't actually finished AC3.)
I don't want Arkham City. I own it on PC and don't see a need to double dip.
I will have to buy my wife Sing Party for Christmas, so there's no need to buy it now.
Darksiders 2 is supposed to be good, but I never played very much of 1.

Suggestions? Is there anything I'm missing? I see Epic Mickey 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3, but I'm hesitant.

If EP2 and NG3 are your only options I say the best thing is to NOT get another game
