Does it seem like Sony's first party graphical output is uncharacteristically lagging behind other developers?
I've been suspecting it since E3 and this article lends further proof, but perhaps coding exclusively for the PS3 has left them a half step behind developers who have been making PC games?
Rayman Legend ??!!
50% better gpu, 8 mufuggin giggles of gddr5, 30fps. But hey let's wait and see folks its still early.
It depends on how you define graphics, look at all the detail on the Infamous:Second son character model running in real time, with all the crazy particle effects when he uses his smoke abilities.
Look at the animation and lighting in Knack, and color usage, very Pixar like, and their movies are sometimes about simple character design's, but the detail is in the animation and color usage of a scene.
Infamous and Knack look great, Killzone looks ok from a crysis type of stand point. But I honestly will have to see more. Driveclub, I have no clue, since I really don't play racing games out side of Kart Racers.
I can't believe someone actually said that.
And apparently The Order was real time which blows every other game so far out of the water.
Then there's the Sorcerer tech demo.
No they don't lol. Killzone is not a twitch shooter. You don't get these sorts of visuals at 60fps.

Err...while I agree with the idea, that's a HUUUUGE stretch for Wii U. It currently offers a grand total of ZERO games running at 1080p 60 with just a very small selection of upcoming games offering that level of performance and image quality. Both 1080p and 60 fps are insanely rare on Wii U as it is.
I'll take 1080p/locked @30fps over 720/60fps anyday
1080p/60fps locked is a bonus, but that extra resolution added more then fps imo.
Nah, 720p60 without AA.Doesn't NSMB U run at 1080p60?
Absolutely, but I'll be honest, I have not seen one single PC game to date with visuals that impressive. Of course it could be done, but it hasn't happened yet. Crysis 3 is about the closest thing but it doesn't have the same density of geometry in the backgrounds. You get 60 fps with those kinds of visuals on better hardware.
You can't be serious. You obviously have been ignoring all the impressions from e3 and gameplay demonstrations.
Which is why I said its still early and we should wait and see.You do realize the devs are aiming for different things visually as well right?
Talk about jumping the gun.
Gemüsepizza;64761276 said:No, 720p is unacceptable. Locked 30 fps is fine for most games.
Ya know how Pachter said its painful to read how little people here know about how the industry works?
I feel even worse for anybody who works on graphics having to read absolute shit-spewing nonsense like this.

720p is fine especially if there is good AA.
1080p 30fps with little to no AA is ass. This is what is aimed for. That's the problem. Hitting 1080p is not worth it if it means compromising on performance.
Some of you were waiting carefully to crawl out of your holes at the minimal negative news about PS4 lol
I am stunned....
How can anyone be impressed by Killer Instinct. It looked horrible. 60 fps means nothing if your game looks and plays like junk.

I took your words differently, apologies there. Reading this entire thread is a headache.
No way.
720/60/AA shits all over 1080/30/no AA

Why is this article giving off the message that the ps4 can't so 60fps? Last I checked the specifications for the two next gen consoles were almost exactly the same.
I've posted this before but no one seems to pay any attention.
SCEE Liverpool houses FPQA (First Party QA). Even when games are submitted to FPQA, they can go through a lot of changes including performance. I know this for a fact as I used to work there. I still have friends working there now.
No PS4 titles are in FPQA yet.
At best they're all probably still in Alpha. Games submitted to FPQA are generally considered "feature complete" and the time used is for polish and bug fixes. Feature complete is not the same as performance complete (for want of a better expression).
When in FPQA you should be able to play the game fully but performance can still continually evolve during this period. At the minimum daily builds will be submitted to FPQA.
So again, everyone needs to act like Fonzie and be cool.
According to people that went hands on and numerous "professional" (video game) fighters...the game looks and plays incredibly well. All I've seen are positive and even rave reviews fight mechanics wise.
I'm not a fan of the art-style, but you're wrong based on first-hand experience.
KZ looks highly impressive compared to all other next gen console games shown, and it probably has feature parity (probably advantage with their take on raytracer even) with Crysis 3 on PC, and still runs at more or less locked 30FPS.Killzone doesn't seem impressive enough to warrent 30fps. Neither does Drive Club.
No way.
720/60/AA shits all over 1080/30/no AA
You really think so? They seem to be aiming a whole lot higher than other developers.
Show me better hardware doing something like the above at 60fps.
I just looked into it again myself and it sucks that they showed it off at one of the floor shows the other year at 1080p and then went back on that.Nah, 720p60 without AA.

Yes, but that doesn't jive with non-KZ players here. Apparently it needs to be super fast twitch shooter.
No fucking excuses, we've been hearing about powerful this and that for more than a week now.

Have you guys seen CoD Ghosts fake lighting, low poly models, blurry textures.
This is the tradeoff for running 1080p60. I'd rather have incredible looking games than 720p60 with barely better than current gen fidelity.

I've been playing games my whole life and owned dozens of consoles. I've played plenty of 60fps games over the years, and I'll firmly say that switching it up and playing a game that's 30fps did not lessen my enjoyment of the game one bit. I have zero problems with a game that's 30fps. Perfectly playable.i dont understand some of you... why 30fps at 1080 is ok? videogames are about playing, so they are about gameplay. fps is important for gameplay, resolution is not. Again, if someone is pushing graphics and resolution over fps, they are pushing graphics over gameplay and thats just... sad. The problem is that graphics sell while fps dont, so i have to play 30fps games because of the general public...
Is this the part where you throw common sense out the window and act like the PS4 is the be-all-end-all of technological advancements in graphics rendering?
"Better" hardware could run something like that at 60 fps, that's why it's BETTER hardware.

Its all in good fun. Calm down man. We're still 5 months from launch, all these games could be 60fps by then.Gemüsepizza;64763451 said:What. does. this. even. mean? We are talking about different games here.
You took his words entirely correct.
No, just needs to be playable.
Killzone 3 wasn't twitch but it didn't have input lag.
Exactly. 1080p can still produce a lot of jaggies which makes a game look ugly.
