What do you think is a good CS for a solo off-laner in 10 minutes (assuming 0 to 1 death)?

5? 10? 20?

Against a good tri-lane 1 lane creep/wave is good, hopefully you can snag a few jungle creeps.

I'll be making it tomorrow and inviting all ze Gaffers.

5-6 hours until you figure out if Ellen Pudge has you ignorelisted or not.

4 seconds is probably too much, maybe 3. Or 50% of the damage.

I could see it working if the hero popping the Vanguard would take all damage as pure damage and couldn't be healed while Vanguard was active.

That should increase the risk/reward ratio to something more palatable.

Oh yes, this would be even better.

Active: Saviour
Cost: 50 mana
Range: 1000
Affects: Allies
Duration: 4 seconds

Redirects all damage done to your target to you.

What about this?

Vangod
Cost to build: 6 Vanguards, no recipe
+2000 HP
+50 HP Regen
Passive: 500 Damage Block, 80% Chance

Active: Guardian Angel Ultra
Cost: 500 Mana
Range: Global
Affects: Allies
Duration: 30 Seconds
Cooldown: 360 Seconds

Grants magic immunity to all allies.

Vanguard stacking now viable

I think your item design sense is questionable, Milk.

However it does bring up an interesting possibility.

Vanguard
Cost: Vitality Booster + Stout Shield + Ring of Health
+250 HP
+6 HP regeneration
Passive: Damage Block
Gives a chance to block damage, depending on the type of hero you are.
Chance to Block: 70%
Damage Blocked (melee wielder): 40
Damage Blocked (ranged wielder): 20

Vanguard 2
Cost: Vitality Booster + Vanguard
+500 HP
+7 HP regeneration
Passive: Damage Block 2
Gives a chance to block damage, depending on the type of hero you are.
Chance to Block: 70%
Damage Blocked (melee wielder): 50
Damage Blocked (ranged wielder): 30

Vanguard 3
Cost: Vitality Booster + Vanguard 2
+750 HP
+8 HP regeneration
Passive: Damage Block 3
Gives a chance to block damage, depending on the type of hero you are.
Chance to Block: 70%
Damage Blocked (melee wielder): 60
Damage Blocked (ranged wielder): 40

How about Vanguard can block magical damage like Living Armor? That'd be a pretty sick buff. Have a % chance to block 30 magic damage.

How about...

Activate Delay: 2 seconds
Active: Fully block the next one attack of any damage type
Active Duration: 5 seconds
CD: 30 seconds

Wouldn't let you use it to reactively block things like Laguna Blade, but would if you could anticipate some big ability coming.

Would be really unfair to some abilities over others.

Yes, Wunder. When it's made you can get in. It's not some elitist cool club, it's a community guild.

5-6 hours until you figure out if Ellen Pudge has you ignorelisted or not.

I love dat ellen page gif<3

I don't think I have anyone ignore listed on GAF.

returning to dota after about a year, who are the top champs this time around

In Pro games, Gyrocopter is still the most picked carry, since he has the ability to instagib an enemy team with a Divine Rapier late games. Life Stealer is still pretty popular, but is getting picked up less now after the last patch. Luna gets picked up a bunch, since she can normally win games before Gyro kills everyone. Batrider is picked a lot, Rubick and Shadow Demon are still popular supports (Though I think Shadow Demon is going to be picked less now that his Shadow Poison doesn't give as much vision). Treant is really popular, his living armor does a ton of work early game. Nyx is still picked as a support, Weaver, Dragon Knight, and Spectra get picked pretty often.

Anuxi can now donate her earnings to NeoGAF, LLC, a subsidiary of Dave is OK Industries.
Neogaf actually isn't on the list. Now, if Anuxi wants, she can give the money to Reddit though.

Might as well put the money towards something though, since it doesn't come out of your share. (Also, I'm not sure if its new, but Valve now outlines how much of a cut you get on the workshop)

Treant, Wisp, Batrider are the kings and the last two are almost always first banned.

In terms of carries... actually it's pretty damn diverse right now in terms of picks but Lifestealer and Gyro remain the most popular, I suppose.
How's Invoker and Elder Titan doing? Never played the latter, but I've been meaning to.

Invoker has fallen out hard ever since his base damage got reduced in 6.75 along with Force Staff no longer giving the +10 Damage/AS, in addition to the game shifting towards early game aggression. He will get picked up every now and then, but is a pretty uncommon pick.

Elder Titan isn't in Captain Mode yet, I don't think Valve is going to put any more heroes in the CM pool until TI3 is over.

Some heroes that are starting to gain traction are Outworld Devourer and Clinkz.

Elder Titan is not in CM, Invoker is lost at sea. You might think you're seeing him in some zenith game, but it's actually a mirage.

edit: holy shit i was beaten

Here's a good list for May:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I6sDPRv_kidxwSdHW-xK6Kat0gpzgwESxyFRaM8az4c/pub

That combines both Eastern and Western matches, which have different metagames. (Wisp is favored more in the West, Shadow Demon is favored more in the East, etc.) Things have changed a bit this month, since there was a major patch three weeks ago. It'll be interesting to see what a similar list for June looks like. Magnus picks in particular have fallen sharply.

They're both viable in pubs. ET is more favorable for magic heavy teams (and against agility carries), Invoker is still Invoker. I haven't really had much success with ET as an initiator, I think he's a better counter initiator, laying down the stomp in the middle of a fight and then going for his ult. Trying to lead in with him is hopeless unless you have a terrain advantage with his spirit, like hiding the spirit in trees or on higher ground.

After looking a cyborgmatt's blog, I found something interesting.

That fantasy team thing rates players with points depending on their role. I.E. 0.3 points for kill on a carry, etc.

What if they are using this to test a new matchmaking method? Rate players individually based on how they did in the game, and not on who won.

I ran the numbers on some of my older games and it seems to make sense. Though supports seem to get the short end of the stick by a large margin.

I could see them tweaking the numbers in the coming weeks and implementing it in the game after TI3.

Btw I was Chuck on the Mumble channel yesterday, but apparently I was having mic problems.

Wow, a muted guy in my team actually left a comment on my profile to tell me i'm just a killstealer after a game.

http://dotabuff.com/matches/229335446 (he's silencer, i'm puck)

2 drums on Lesh?
Linkins Silencer?

This is some trenchy shit man

Is anyone else (in Europe) having massive issues with twitch the last few weeks? Constantly buffering

Africa here
Massive lag issues with Twitch
I think they have to much traffic and not enough servers.

I'm pretty sure that's been the case for a long time. Anyone who has made a smurf and stomped a few games knows they get shot up to their typical bracket preeetttyy quickly.

Silencer was trash, never used global silence when we needed it. I don't think Leshrac had those drums until the end of the game. But yeah, it was pretty trenchy: the game started with 4 people trying to gank me mid in the most idiotic way.

I still see Lifestealer in every pro game I watch, he's still OP as fuck just his slow isn't a 1 point wonder anymore.

Just had a game where our carry Luna refused to do anything but farm for 60 minutes. So long as she wasn't six-slotted with a Divine Rapier to boot, she ran from every fight.

So we adapted and simply started following Luna instead! If she wouldn't come to the fight, the fight would come to her.

We ended up winning, but dear lord what a pain. Good thing she was chat muted.

Speaking of muting and low priority queue, I was in a match the other day and the system told me "This is a low-priority pool match and you will receive no points!" (for some reason...no idea how I ended up in such a match), but when the match was over I still got points. What's up with that? Does it only penalize those who truely are in LPP? But I always thought no one could join LPP matches except for them. Weird.

If youre partied up with someone in LPQ you will join a LP game, but still get points

You can party up with Low Priority people, but I think as long as you aren't low priority your self, you can still get points. Or it could have just been a bug.
