Oblivion Remaster Release date Accidentally Leaked by XBOX Support, Coming to Gamepass on Day one, April 21st, 2025.

i'm more to morrowind rather than oblivion or even skyrim, but well, unpopular opinion. but i wish morrowind will someday, have some official treatment :,)

Correct.

The documents were leaked in 2023 during the FTC trial.

But, the documents themselves are from 2020 or so, from before Zenimax's acquisition closed.

They've had this planned and in some kind of development for a few years now.*

* A lot of these dates are clearly way too optimistic and didn't pan out, the covid lockdowns fucked a lot of it up way back when.

ohhhhhhhhhh yea

I forgot about all this, yea this is as good as the Nvida leaks tbh

Do we know what Project Kestrel and Project Platinum are?

Nobody asked for this. Isn't that the whole point of mods? This is 5-6 years too late.
I disagree. A lot of people were looking forward to Skyblivion just to have an updated version of Oblivion to jump back into. This changes things up for a lot of people, and with all the chatter there's clearly a lot of people that are very interested and very hyped.

Oh so it's a remaster, not a remake ?
So, they're calling it a remaster, but it's clearly more of a remake. Gonna be great for people that are confused about the two, lmao.

A remaster would just be an upscale and improvement of original game textures and engine. Nightdive games (san System Shock Remake) are great examples. Still looks like the original game, but slightly better and improved.

A remake is anything more than that IMO, and from the visuals we've seen it's definitely more than that. However it does seem/sound like it's keeping a lot of the original engine elements intact, while it's also rumored that there will be game improvements and then some.

It's like Halo: Anniversary.

Brand new graphical engine over the older bones. Some rumors have also said that there will be game play improvements, which is beyond the scope of a simple remaster.

The branding is a bit confusing. They probably don't want to call it a full remake cause it's essentially the same game with modifications and a new engine. i wouldn't be surprised if it uses the same OST and dialogue track.

Okay great, thanks.

I guess it's also how they call the Spyro/Crash trilogies and Tony Hawk 1+2 3+4 as "remasters" despite being remakes

I just installed Oblivion and play a little, I have to say I've always prefered the immersion and gameplay of Oblivion over Skyrim, and the interface is so good

Looks like the Skyblivion creator is taking this in good stride.

As the official Oblivion remaster is all but confirmed, the modder who's been unofficially remaking the RPG in Skyrim for 13 years says "this changes nothing for me"

"All love and no hate towards the people who made the official remaster"

This support is just a simple AI bot. ChatGPT/Co-Pilot simply echoes the content it finds credible on the internet. Welcome to the beautiful world of AI.

This is either a staged leak, because there is no event to announce this, or bullshit.

He and the Resident Evil 4 PC HD mod guy should have a beer together talking about wasting their life away on modding games that get full remakes within the time of them still modding the game.

To be fair RE4 HD is the better game. Wouldn't surprise me if Skyblivion turns out the same way. It's always interesting to see how different Remasters and Remakes are compared to the original.

It's going to be interesting to play both games and see which one is better
Once both of them comes out, it's going to be a WIN no matter what.

Don't like the heavy saturated colors than folks got the Oblivion Remake. Don't like the darker tone than they got Skyblivion.

Want mod support but Oblivion Remake don't have it than you got Skyobivion. Or Skyblivion also gets mod support for a big WIN WIN.

Like a more modern intense gameplay than you got Oblivion Remake. Like a more familiar and casual gameplay than go Skyobivion.

Like both than it's a win win. So it'll either be a 2 Wins or a 1 Win at least. Either way it's going to be a win for everyone no matter what.

I'm going to be enjoying both so a win win for me.

I think Skybivion would most likely come out cause they got a whole team or a much bigger team. And they were confident enough to try and launch Skybivion somewhere within this year. If the game was still too far away than they wouldn't have tried to release it this year. So the game is most likely going to come out either this year or next year.

Now Skywind is the one I'm a little worried about as I'm looking forward to that even more than Skybivion but it's requiring more work and they haven't announced a planned release date so there's a chance that one might not come. Hoping for a 2027 release though.

Unless there's performance issues, it'll most likely be the official one. I've only seen one fan project that big which was actually AAA quality (Fallout London) and even that had some issues.
Remake is apparently being redone with UE5 and I bet mod support is non-existent. Skyblivion uses the shitty Creation Engine, which while old, is flexible and fantastic for modding.

I'm still looking forward to Skyblivion. Fan projects are often made with more care and understanding of the original work than professional studils.

Yeah Black Mesa is amazing as a half life remake as a fan project. I'll enjoy both Oblivion Remake and Skyobivion a lot but Skybivion would end up being the one that's going to last way longer years later if the official remake doesn't allow mods at all. Even then the official remake

At least with everything else being confirmed true even the Oblivion remake, this list gives me huge hopes for Microsoft from this year onward. That FY24E is probably the best list I've ever seen. Elder Scrolls VI alone makes it the best and one of the few games that's even better than GTA VI(excluding sales) But the Oblivion and Fallout 3 Remakes are going to skyrocket it too. Dishonored 3 is another huge plus and if the rumors of Prototype 3 is also true than another big plus.
If this shit is really for real it's totally gonna fuck up my cabbage patch gaming schedule for the foreseeable future.
Yeah it's a amazing thing but there's also a con cause it makes me not care about other games for months. I really like games like Resident Evil, Ratchet and Clank etc but even those I could take a break from after a week or two. But with Bethesda single player Elder Scrolls or Fallout games, it takes months to even get a little bored but can quickly get very fun again if I get back into it later. If Oblivion Remake turns out to be great which I think it'll most likely be or 99% sure at least than I get to save hundreds cause I won't be getting the Switch 2 and it should be fun enough to last me for months and by the time I do get bored of it, GTA VI/Skyobivion would be out. Next year there's Fallout 3 Remake to give off another massive hype than by the time I get bored of that, ELDER SCROLLS VI would be very close!
