6am Pt? 9am eastern? Wtf, Nintendo?
Nintendo seems to be moving towards Directs that air in the morning in North America, and I fucking hate it.

True. It was a cross-gen release with a plaform that sold less than the game itselt would eventually sell on Switch.BOTW wasn't exclusive to Switch
Gad, can't see those pictures, it really feels like visual sugar overdose, to the point you don't want more of it because it's just "too much"... Also, "random junk in a landscape" is close to what I call modern armor designs in most western shooters (junk armor)I don't like the aesthetic either, it's a bit of a hard barrier for me. Sad, given the quality devs involved.
It evokes for me the trash-tier procedural design of No Man's Sky, which I absolutely loathe.

I hate "random junk in a landscape" look, it feels un-designed in the worst way. My games should be curated gardens of inventive design, like a typical 3D Mario platformer offers.
Only reason I'm gonna even look at this game, is because its from the Odyssey team. Sucks that all we are getting is a second banana character platformer, with nothing else even dated yet.
As much as I love Nintendo and their games, this launch has sucked thus far. No Zelda, No Mario, Prime 4 at some point in the future like the past 7 years.
Talk about a dearth of games to play. Switch 1 launch window, this ain't.
How about a new IP title Nintendo? Is splatoon the last one?
luckyJust got amazon canada invitation to buy Switch 2 and bought it right now

i fell the same all i need is the overview video and i am goodDon't get me wrong, I'm excited about DKB, but I don't need to see anymore.
Give us a proper Direct, Nintendo!

still gives me hope indeed, because there were some areas in the Treehouse footage that actually looked fun, even if I hated the main areas they showed. If there's more of the good stuff I might be able to overlook the awful garish levels, sort of like I had to overlook things like the cooking world in Mario Odyssey.Typically Nintendo lowballs the first trailers of a platformer then cranks everything to 11. 3D mario and Odyssey come to mind.
We haven't seen shit for DKB
I'm shocked its even 15 mins. Mario Odyssey's direct portion after initial trailer was only 7 mins
Nobody remembers how bad the switch 1 eshop was at release. Vroom in the Night Sky was a launch title ffs.People have such bad memories.
Also, third party support was abysmal, indies were only just getting started on it, NSO was just a smattering of NES games instead of frikkin F-Zero GX and Wind Waker, and there was no backwards compatibility whatsoever.
Yahoo!!! The reason I got my Switch! I'm really interested in seeing how involved platforming can get when you can climb most surfaces, roll jump, turf surf and what they call chunk jump. There was some footage of people flying through the levels with these abilities and it looked really satisfying. I think people have this idea that you just dig until the level is no more then game set and match.
What's Chunk Jump? Like a double jump?
There is going to be a Nintendo Direct this Wednesday. It kind of makes me wonder if they are going to release a demo.
Seems odd that they are doing this so soon.
This is a thread to discuss about it.
Damn, you're right! The sales are abysmal, apparently no one is buying this thing until they address all the things you're demanding. Quick Nintendo, quick! They need to get their shit together and adress everything. Not just DK.
I personally don't want that. I like Mario 64 but the thing I like about 3D Mario games is each have their own unique mechanics.I want a Mario 3D game sequel to Mario 64. No gimmick stuff or super power like hats or a car cleaner backpack![]()
They are not mutually exclusive you know? They have to date all this stuff at some point, but they probably see DK marketing as more urgent as it's coming next month.
How would you know this?Well this direct sucked!
How would you know this?
There's another reason I asked but I can't say why. I was going to send you a direct message to explain but I couldn't.He's just being bananas, it's not even started yet!

I will now use sarcasm in my response because I am incapable of understanding your point of view: Yeah its selling so badly, they really fucked up
Just announced in the Nintendo Today app, a Donkey Kong Banaza Direct coming June 18 at 6am PST. 15 minutes of info and updates.
If you are going to quote me, please don't change the quote. No don't worry about it. Their sales are great but can you imagine the impact of EVERY 3RD PARTY IS HERE right from the getgo? Total dominance…had they sent out the development kids earlier and to more developers as has been documented that many did not get it early if at all before reveal. But that dominance and 3rd party will eventually come.
This is what people don't get......can you imagine the impact of EVERY 3RD PARTY IS HERE right from the getgo? Total dominance…had they sent out the development kids earlier and to more developers as has been documented that many did not get it early if at all before reveal...
Sounds exactly like something Nintendo wouldn't want.one would have to decide wether to buy Mario Kart, Donkey Kong or one of the dozens of other titles.
exactly.Sounds exactly like something Nintendo wouldn't want.
Surely the reason they put DK a month after Mario Kart is so that they wouldn't compete for our attention.
Which is exactly my point. You said they should have done a general direct instead of this one. I'm saying they can do both. They are not mutually exclusive you know?
Which are the games you can't imagine anyone would play?I think I kinda like this strategy.
Treat each release like tent pole. When the game releases everyone is aboard.
Though sucks if you wanna know release schedule in advance.
Only issue is, Nintendo makes a ton of games that I simply cannot even imagine why anyone would play them, not just me. So when such games will be given spotlight, I will be pretty much in dark.
I think I will pick up Switch 2 during its final years so I have a good selection of games that are to my taste.
I am about to go bananas.am I the only one fully hyped for some DK madness?
Which are the games you can't imagine anyone would play?
Breath of the Wild climb any surfaceThis Direct is gonna have to do a lot to convince me, what I've seen so far hasn't done it.
This game looks like a terrain destruction tech demo that they decided to put DK in, without much else going for it. I have seen zero interesting gameplay so far (smashing through shit is gonna be fun for 10 minutes and then get old), zero interesting environments (the underground theme sucks), very little actual level design, nothing to really do except smash through stuff. Nothing about this feels like a DK game. I wanted DK64 but better.

In BotW the mechanics served the gameplay. Here it just feels like a game with cool mechanics that that are the gameplay, and don't seem that interesting beyond the first hour.Breath of the Wild climb any surface
Full environmental destruction
2D section with barrels
Bananas
Not really sure what else you could want.
I feel like punching the new DK in the face.
That design is hideous.
