Aaron Greenberg (Xbox Marketing) said "Nobody cares about Banjo-Kazooie" at a Flight Sim event

Spanish youtuber and personality "Puerta al Sótano" was recently at a Flight Sim event. Aaron Greenberg was there too. PR person apparently asked fans which games they wanted to see again.

"Puerta al Sótano" answered "Banjo-Kazooie" and apparently Aaron said "Nobody cares about Banjo Kazooie".

Pretty funny that the random tweet announcing Tooie on NSO garnered 25 thousand likes.

If true, just goes to further prove that Xbox have no regard for their own studios' gaming heritage.

Top comment nails it:

This is just bad taste to say this about any IP you own, no matter how small. It's like if Nintendo said nobody cares about F-zero, it may be true to some extent, but why upset fans like that?

Worst public relations professional in the business. That guy does more harm to the brand (Xbox), than any Sony soldier ever could.

and this is why Xbox is failing, and will never become the default platform for gaming
Hey come on now, maybe they could pull off an Astro Bot. With planes!

...oh wait, that's kinda what Flight Simulator is. And still a niche. Carry on!

Aaron Greenberg said "Nobody cares about Banjo-Kazooie at a Flight Sim event" - Ok

Microsoft should sell the IP if they think it's worthless. Someone else might make and release a Banjo game for its fans.

But Xbox is a freakin' hoarder of IPs that cares nothing about games, gamers, or the industry.

And for once he's right.
3D platform games don't sell like they used too, not even Astrobot set the sales charts alight and after all the hype Yooka laylee didn't sell that good despite all those 'Banjo' fans desperate for a new game.

Remakes might be a better way to go if one looks at Crash

It will after the game awards. There is zero competition this year and look how much It Takes Two sold with the award.

Why are we trying to revise history?

Big difference between no no cares or it doesn't sell like it used to.

A sequel for Banjo deserves a better fate than Gamepass trash. Work with Nintendo on it for a cross platform experience, a lot of people WOULD care Aaron.

News at 11, Microsoft doesn't understand gaming.

Idiotic statement to be made from a guy high up in public relations. You're damaging your IP (no matter how small or forgotten it is) and also the image of your company, so basically failing at your (most likely high paid) job.

And it doesn't even have to be a true statement if you look at successes of Crash or Astro Bot. A GOOD comeback from a talented studio could sell copies, the genre didn't die like some of the others.

Not only that:

Dude is as out of touch with reality as Greenberg.

Defending Greenberg's statements is not easy!

Aaron Greenberg is an idiot and one of the main reasons the Xbox brand is failing.

Come on he has zero decision making capabilities. His job is to spin a narrative which no one can do from the pile of shit the actual execs cooked up.

What's next ColtEastwood is a big reason for Xbox having been wiped out of console race too?

Comparing the head of marketing to a random Twitter mouthbreather. Makes sense.

It's like promoting new cartoon and saying that nobody cares about classic Disney cartoons anymore.
If you are in the marketing - have a respect for you customers, give them a good story why they should care about your game.

And definitely don't tell them something that could be interpreted as "If you still care about something you enjoyed in you childhood, you're out of touch".
It's you who are out of touch, not your customers.

These companies care about money. His words make perfect sense to me tbh.

Xbox will be all about the big IPs. Activision will be COD factory. Rare won't go back to old IPs now that Sea of Thieves is a hit. Bethesda will never leave Fallout for that reason as well.

They care about those sales and let's face it...Banjo Kazooie is niche.

This guy is the VP of Marketing for Xbox by the way, which is hilarious in so many ways.

Not very good at your job are you, Aaron.

Unfortunately, he's not wrong though especially if it's on the XBOX. Banjo as good it was is a niche franchise. These companies don't care about the history or fanbase of a game, but only games they think are going to print money for them. That's why Sony refuses to give us another Bloodborne for example. Xbox gamers rarely buy games and I don't see a presumably cutesy platformer changing that tradition unfortunately. How Banjo would perform on other platforms remains to be seen especially after AstroBot's success though.

I think they've been that way for a while. The last banjo kazoo game, nuts and bolts, made fun of itself for past games being a collectathon. This was due to part 3 being canceled and the reasons that were given to them by Xbox.
