So what shade of red will Sean Spicers eyes be when he has to tackle this issue

He could've just let her go tomorrow with Sessions being confirmed and nothing would've happened

But nope, he had to tweet about it like a shitlord, appoint someone for a day, and have Bannon write him that fucking drivel
This makes me more persuaded Trump's inner circle are power mad *and* incompetent instead of just power mad.

If you "betray the justice department", expect punishing procedures to be applied. For now it's just a firing, won't always end at that.

He literally just made the story way bigger by firing her. What an idiot LOL.

Good job Yates. You did the right thing for the right reasons. Donald Trump can go fuck himself.

I assume that was the intention. Any employee directly opposing the Executive Branch that is also directly employed by them can't expect to be around long.

The wording of that press release is a real laugh riot, though. If one thing will save us, it's that Bannon and co are idiots.

Trump has done a ton of worrying and dangerous things but this is not one of them. Cabinet-level officials (and several ranks below them too) being replaced by an incoming President is the norm. An acting Cabinet official from the previous administration who refuses to cooperate with the new one (no matter how admirable or principled I may find that decision) is obviously not going to be kept on. Not that she would have been in that position for more than a few days anyway since her replacement will be confirmed by the Senate soon.

You're ignoring all of the context with this statement, really.

But it doesnt matter. Two weeks ago we had the hooker piss thing and look at where we are now. Its all moving so fast that none of this matters.

Nah b all of it matters cause it's all one big Katamari of stupidity just rollin down the hill until he's screwed

A lot of hyperbole in this thread. It's the President's right to replace subordinates that won't carry out his directives. But kudos to her for going out in a blaze of righteous glory.

Be upset when Trump relieves the State dissenters.

Saying she betrayed the justice department goes far past that

The hyperbole is in the press release.

At this point. FUCK calling your reps about confirmations. It's time to start asking when they are going to be impeaching this motherfucker. Pressure needs to be put on.

This is crazy. Trump is not fucking around and he just won major, major brownie points with his base.

Not sure what winning brownie points with his diehard deplorables gets him. It's making him look even more insane and power-crazed to everyone else.

God damn the language used in this statement. Pathetic.

this reads like a super angry email you write when you're pissed at work and instead should have stepped back for a minute and said, yea probably not a good idea.

Feel free to elaborate.

Like I said, a lot of what Trump has done is genuinely worrying, including the stuff that Yates decided to stand up to him regarding. But the replacement of Cabinet officials is a routine process and would have happened anyway. Arguing that it represents a breakdown in the functioning of our democratic institutions or makes Trump a dictator is not accurate.

I'll certainly agree that the language used in the press release is gross.

There is no precedent for this. The hyperbole is the release, not the responses on this board. Shit's getting real.

"Nothing is fucked? The plane has crashed into the goddamn mountain!"

I'm going to buy a history textbook in 2030, just to read and reflect on this embarrassing stretch of our country's history.

The sudden firing of a cabinet official like this has not happened since Nixon.

Remember that Trump asked Yates to stay on, for one thing. He cannot just call her an "Obama Administration appointee." She was working in her current capacity at his request.

Also keep in mind the context of her actions.

Finally, look at the language used in that statement.

Good on Yates for taking a stand. She'll be remembered for this.

We need to stand up right now. This shit is indefensible, and we need to start applying serious pressure to congressmen and other officials.
