Tony is the smartest man in the MCU so far. I don't think that is really much of a debate. Killian was up there, but he's dead. Banner is close, but more specific in his field of expertise.

I'm going to argue that Banner is actually a bit broader in his fields of expertise. Tony is primarily an engineer in the MCU. Able to quickly pick up other stuff, as shown in Avengers and Iron Man 3, but he always reverts back to what he knows best, which tends to be power sources and suits. Banner is far quieter about what his fields even are, but we've already seen him build a complex tracking algorithm in a matter of hours, pull an in-depth knowledge of thermonuclear astrophysics out of thin air, design a new variant of tetrodotoxin, and design that powered gamma burst generator that Fitz used. Not to mention his supersoldier serum variant.

He's kinda all over the place with the stuff he's been working on.

You make a good point on his intelligence. Ruffalo Hulk seems like a smart guy. I hope we get the chance to see more of him in that area. Too bad Marvel doesn't look to be planning a Hulk movie.

Yes but:

Banner's thing is energy and radiation. I like that they've kept everyone really restricted to their own areas of expertise.

All the things he did was still based around his knowledge of his field. Ruffalo Banner does seem way more intelligent than Norton Banner.

I really like that they are doing this, to be honest. There are many different kinds of geniuses.

Well he technically already had a movie in The Incredible Hulk (which came out a month after Iron Man), but I know what you mean.

You serious?

Stark built that first mini arc reactor in a cave with a bunch of scraps. Could Banner do the same?

Yes.

Seriously, Banner builds most his shit in caves in the comics. He built a portal to the Negative Zone in a cave once, just because Rick Jones asked him to.

Also, although technically it is not in the cinematic universe, Reed is definitely the smartest out of all scientists. The things he toys with is quite frankly dimensions beyond their stuff. Hickman tackled that quite well with his FF-run. I am actually quite sad that the FF will never be part of the Avengers/Marvel part of movies, mostly because they have a good amount of crisises to offfer :p

So in comics, it is more like:

Reed > Banner > Pym >~ Parker >/~ Stark > Hank Mccoy

You can hope the 2015 movie and the 2017 sequel flop.

Yeah, clearly it was an even, fair fight without the use of editorial powers when Nightcrawler is helpless inside a web net. Totally something we should use as a measuring stick.

Shut your mouth. Not only can his webs stop TPers he can move faster than speedsters as his victory over Firelord demonstrates.

Yes. Tony also has business and social smarts.

Let's remember most writers dont have science degrees so its much more abstract to them then, can this guy lift a car or tank?

For those of you that didn't know already, marvel.com/universe has official power rankings for things like intelligence, etc.

That depends on if you believe Lou Ferrigno or not when he says they are planning a Hulk movie for post Avengers 2 (Phase 3 or later).

They might risk it. They weren't expecting Hulk to be such a hit with the first Avengers movie, so they didn't plan anything for Phase 2. Phase 3, however... who knows?

I still say no way is Parker smarter than Stark.

I would also put Pym ahead of Banner.

Hasn't Pym admitted that Parker is smarter than him at least once in the comics?

He has:

Pym can say whatever he wants but we all know Pym is the Scientist Supreme.

That's what they call bad writing. Let me guess, it was in a Pym focused comic?

edit:
The cosmic entity Eternity reveals to Pym that he is Earth's "Scientist Supreme", the scientific counterpart to the Earth's current Sorcerer Supreme, as he is able to create science with effects similar to magic. Loki later claims to have been posing as Eternity in order to trick Pym.
Ahaha.

He still murdered obi-wan and choked some dudes to death with magic. The prequels just added more murder.
And blowing up a planet.

BASED MAHVEL
I always knew she was something special when she first showed up.

Next year DC is going to have:

Arrow
The Flash
iZombie
Constantine

Marvel's gotta keep up.
ANd we are all better off for it.

I was not aware she has a Twitter account. =D

Yeah it does seem that way, pretty disgusting when any discussion about something that features a woman becomes all about her looks instead of the actual subject.

Really looking forward to this, it will be good to get a period piece show and i really enjoyed her character in Cap 1.
Can't a man appreciate the female form...like every day? >_> <_<

Oooooh. Must watch. Anytime Craig has a beautiful woman on it is great.
He's like a 11th or 12th wonder in that regard.

They are going to make out and then the camera is going to pan to Fitz sitting in the audience looking sad.
I tweeted that NeoGAF's favorite SHIELD waifu was going to be on the show. :p

Fury is a big part of the latest event. Original Sin. From the single issue relrased so far its entertaining enough. Fury has a great story about WW II in it.
So, what is that about? I saw that spread about steak. Really has me intrigued despite it being nothing but steak.

I wish I had his swagger. He could have chemistry with a cardboard box, no problem.
He is like my spirit person or the ideal human being and he's off the air this year. :(

Mission accomplished.
Why the hell didn't I like go all amour at that scene? Holy Hell...

no power pack but Jessica Jones and the 4 netflix shows are building a defenders show

edit I also think there 2015 shows

Yeah I know that the Netflix shows are working up to Defenders, but I just didn't hear of a Power Pack show. I guess HP_Wuvcraft mistook Jessica Jones with Power Pack.

I hope they get a Runaways animated show. someday. I don't think the concept is actually doable in live action just due to the ages of the kids.

Fuck it.

They should cast Craig Ferguson as Doctor Strange. THAT MOVIE WOULD SUCCEED ON THE CHEMISTRY ALONE WITH EVERYBODY.

Actually, Craig Ferguson just needs to be somebody important, period. I want to see him in a Marvel flick once Late Late Show wraps up.

I've been wondering why Slayven has not joined in on the Spider-man debate, so I checked and he's been banned. I always like his posts in comic book threads. :(
