SEASON PREMIERE:
Wednesday October 9th 10p [only on FX]
American Horror Story is a horror-drama series created and produced by Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) and Brad Falchuk. The series has been referred to as an "anthology" series
as every series features different characters, settings and story lines while utilizing the same actors who may return for different roles. From the beginning, Murphy and Falchuk had
planned for the series to be a different story each season - allowing for actors to sign on without having to commit to multiple year runs and allowing the show to remain fresh and
varied. As such, each story is conceived and penned at the beginning of the production cycle from beginning to end.
Coven is the third season of American Horror Story. It will span multiple years - ranging from the 1830s right through to the present day. It's main focus is surrounding the Salem With Trials
and their resultant conflict with the Voodoo of the New Orleans. The writers plan to explore themes of witches, witch hunts, incest, minorities, slavery, and the bond between mother and
daughter.
The stories concerning the Harmon family and their haunted house (from Season 1), as well as Sister Jude's sanitarium (from Season 2) are completely unrelated to Coven.
You do not need to watch the first or second season to understand this one - each season of American Horror Story is independent of one another

The greatest thing about American Horror Story is that every season is self contained. The actors are the same - but the characters and stories change each year.
Relive some of the past moments of the franchise and watch either the first season - Murder House, or the second - Asylum. Or if you've never watched them before, now's the perfect time to jump in.
Or leave them until after Coven - they are unrelated, after all.
