It looks like the best AC game since forever. The music's disappointing (again, though not as much), but everything else is lookin' good.

Are the villager interactions improved in this game? More conversation variations please!

I'm so ready. Upgrading to an XL for that LE unit. I've bought all the AC games but this will be the first one I truly play since the Gamecube one. The DS and Wii versions left me wanting and I barely played over a few hours.

You, me both. This one is shaping up to be the best, if not second, version in the series. Such a throwback to the original game with the train station and island.

I'm getting all nostalgic just thinking about it!

Animal Crossing on the Gamecube was one of my favorite games for that system. I skipped out on the Wii version but I seriously can't wait to pick it up for the 3DS.

I do need to get a move on making progress in FE though...

Does anyone know how Streetpass will work in this game?

You will see the houses of those you met through StreetPass in a part of the village close to the shopping street. You can visit those houses, and also buy objects you find there (at a higher price, but there might be rarer objects of course).

i haven't played an animal crossing since the original. pretty excited about this one. it's releasing at a pretty good time too.

Some of it is, but there are good tracks, like this
EDIT: This one, too! I've only listened to a couple, but overall it seems MUCH better than WW/CF's soundtrack
Regarding interactions, from what reviewers have said, they have. Less "oh I could really go for some CREME BRULE" and more like the original game. Repetitiveness is also apparently reduced.

Wow that music's actually really good, for the most part. Also keep in mind the first original Animal Crossing soundtrack in 8 years... man City Folk fucking sucked.

I am beyond hyped right now. One of my friends kept telling me how great it was and how I should get it so I started looking up some stuff and it has become one of my most anticipated games this year. I'm pretty sad I won't be able to get that XL though. Looks so good.

That's good to hear. Animals would just start repeating themselves after like two interactions in City Folk, it was lame

Did everyone else purge City Folk from their memory banks?

I spent a good amount of hours on that game, though considerably less than Wild World, and I don't remember a single thing about it except the long train ride to go to the insipid city.

Edit: oh, it wasn't even a train. This game was so forgettable.

Yeah it was so boring and uninspired. Not even bad just... a big screen port of Wild World, more or less. I literally only played to get the Samus helmet, then I stopped. It was just such a half-assed effort.

To anyone who's played the JP version, is single household co-op better on the same game or with two separate copies of the game? I have multiple 3DS systems and don't mind buying another copy for my girlfriend, but only if it'd be annoying that only one of us can be mayor.

Cannot wait. Wish it was here now. Love that its the kind of game you can at alongside everything else you're already playing. It doesn't require a huge time commitment.

I am SO excited for this game. Me, my twin brother, and our best friend loved playing these games (Mostly Wild World). Wifi is amazing for these games.
We are all downloading the game on our 3DS XL at 9:00 PM PST. Can't wait! Looks like the best one in the series. And plus, my finals are done June 6th (highschool senior), and its like a going away gift to me from me, and then my birthday is on the 14th!
Sorry but im just really glad this is coming out so soon :D

Yeah that's about the extent of what I remember, too. Going into this as though I hadn't played an AC game since Wild World.

Wild World was good, obv not a huge improvement over the GCN original but it had its moments of fun that you couldn't get in the GCN original.

New Leaf is going to be amazing, I can feel it.

Yeah, pretty much. I got my copy for Christmas, was excited for the "city" (disappointment), played for around 4 months and eventually stopped.
I hated the letters, too. I used to write really nice letters in the Gamecube version and get equally nice ones back, but in CF I'd write a nice letter and get:
"Dear Labrys,
Thanks for your letter!
We should talk over FRUITCAKE sometime.

love,
Bob"

I dunno why CF suddenly made the animals obsessed with random food.

8AM sounds beautiful! I just love how 5PM is a direct rendition of the same song from the GameCube game.

Gosh, this is going to be the perfect summer game.

I'm really curious, but what did they add in the 3DS version? I want to know to see if It's worth getting a 3ds

- New faces have been added.
- You can change your eye colour with the use of coloured contacts.
- You can keep two pages of Emotions, with 20 emotions on each page.
- You can now buy pants, shoes, socks, and skirts.
- The player can use megaphones to get villagers' attention.
- You can make Fruit baskets to carry up to 9 fruit in one slot.
- The player can run on the beach barefoot.
- You can swim and dive down to get secret sea creatures when you see a black silhouette moving.
- K.K. Slider now works as a DJ at Club LOL, alongside doing performances on Saturday nights. You can buy his songs at Timmy and Tommy's Shop once you have the third upgrade.
- When you walk in to your village you might notice that there's an extra rock, everyday the rock will be in a different place around the Town. If you hit the new rock with your shovel you will get crystal, silver, bronze or gold which you can then take to R. Parkers. Next go to the blue alpaca and ask him to make something. He will look to see what you've got and if he agrees he will place it on the table and make you a model or piece of furniture. The price will be 3,000 bells and your piece of furniture or model will be complete in half an hour.
- You can do the same thing with dinosaur bones as long as you've got the full body parts.
- Your character is taller.
- Like other Animal Crossing games before the player arrives to the town, you get asked questions that effect the player. Now, you can effect the simple layout of the town.
- Players have the option to begin public works in town. These include buildings such as the police station and coffee shop. Other public works include benches, lampposts, and other exterior structures.
- All players, within the same town, get their own individual house to customize. This is a change from Wild World where all players created within the same town shared the same house.
- Patterns made at the Able Sisters can be saved as QR codes. If the player scans a QR code, they will be able to obtain that design, it can work with Google images, and pictures too.
- House signs are not set up, the animal villager can choose anywhere in town to place their house, same feature for the player.
- Items can be hung on the wall.
- Your house loan is less money and can be payed off in your own order. (Meaning you can choose to not have a basement or a side room, etc.)
- It is rumoured you can write back to your mom in the game.
- You can buy Fortune Cookies with Playcoins. (Earned by walking with the 3DS on)
- You can swim in the ocean. (This requires the user to wear a wetsuit, an item that can be rented on the island and/or eventually purchased)
- Bamboo can be grown.
- Bushes/Tall shrubs are a new addition that can be grown.
- There is a garden shop where you can buy different gardening needs.
- You can have up to 30 Community Projects.
- The outside of your house can be customized.
- You can visit other people's towns via Dream Suite where you can also get a design from that town.
- In the Shopping Mall area, there is Digby, who monitors the entrance spot for the Happy Homes Area.
- Labelle now works with Mabel and Sable, running an accessories shop.
- You have an ID showing your town code, your name, your town name, your birthday, the day you came to the town, your catchphrase, your badges that you get from Phineas, and your photo. Your photo can be changed by going into the photo booth on Main Street.

Quite a few times the last few weeks I've been winding down and wish I had this game to relax with for a little while before I go to sleep. Won't get to play it until the 16th because I'm at Disney World the week it comes out.

I've been using this site for about a year now! I'm gonna stick to the PG music until I actually NL. Don't want to spoil anymore of the game on myself!

I'm trying to do that, too. It's kinda hard, seeing as I've seen a ton of content already, but I have blacklisted a bunch of stuff.
Listening, though, 4PM in the Gamecube version is growing on me. I always got on it around 5 PM, so I never really got the chance to listen to it.

Have you ever played in the morning? Those songs are also very memorable to me. 5PM will always have that special place in my heart, though.

I'll be buying this digitally too. Rare for me to do so. This and MH3U i never want to leave my system though.

I remember reading ages ago that this game uses playcoins quite a bit. So save 'em up lads.

Well, Animal pictures are back! Actual incentive to make friends with the little bastards.

I had a hype meltdown when I learned about this.m

Hey hey, now wait a minute. City Folk wasnt bad. I welcomed City Folk because it was like a mesh of WW and the original. Things they improved from WW:

*The graphics were much nicer and much smoother than the sluggish DS game. It was glorious.

*The manner of quickly switching tools was a very welcome improvement (I hope NL has this). The control over all was better, compared to DS controls.

*They expanded the complexity of clothing patterns, and added more options.

*They brought back holidays (but ditched the animal pictures, sadly)

*Houses that you don't have to share.

*Gyroid storage at the coffee house. Megaton.

*Gracie's high end store was fun. Ogle the crazy expensive items and aspire to get rich enough to buy them #swag #yolo

That's what I can remember of the top of my head. Certainly, NL sounds very exciting with all these new things. I'm very very hyped. But don't knock CF! :<

The Wild World soundtrack was so good. I was really ill for about two weeks in high school and would just play this all night. The late night/early morning songs are burned into my memory, probably forever.
