Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes out in a month.

Over here we love animal crossing. It was the reason we got a 3ds.

Yet, this slow localization was terrible.

Eight months after japan. Release on top of e3. I really dont see any reason for this.


EDIT: this thread started today, but the game comes out in 23 Days, not a month

I'm really looking forward to it. I am not looking forward to my GF hogging my 3DS XL though. :( I will not get a look in for the first few weeks.

Were you one of the people that got a review copy? What exactly makes it terrible? From what I've seen it's actually quite good.

And I think the reason it was so slow was due to all the new content that needed to be translated. From the video they posted today, it started last March.
 
Man, seems unreal that it's really coming out. Three years is such a long time to be anticipating it. I'm not even super hyped or anything (though I do love some AC and will get it), but it just feels like forever since the announcement.

I don't think he's saying the localisation is bad, just that the time it took was. Which I totally agree with. If Pokemon can globally launch, there's no excuse.

Oh, I just misread, then. Sorry about that.

I do agree, though, it took way too long. I think my pre-order on amazon is 2 years old, now...
 
So damn excited for this game. I looked at some footage from when it was released in Japan and I noticed one little thing that excited me way too much!

In the old games fall was always very brown, the grass and trees were brown like the while season bin New Leaf the grass and trees are more orangey and gold-ish which looks amazing!

Can't wait!!
 
Zavvi hasn't cancelled my 3DS bundle still. Beginning to worry I'm going to be billed for it... suppose there's worse times to own a 3DS but I shouldn't really be wasting money. Hopefully I can sell it before I get tempted.
 
I think I am as hyped about this game as I am Dark Souls 2... which is odd considering just how mundane this game actually is, lol.
 
The requirements for some of those badges are insane. In a good way. :D

Attend KK Slider's Saturday show 100 times? Pull 5000 weeds? Sell 10,000,000 bells worth of turnips? Yeeeah, we going to be playing this for a very long time!

Aww, man, I'm going to have a Beautiful town, so I'm probably not going to get this. Such is life.
I'm totally getting that K.K. Slider one, though. Being able to put the albums on the walls will up the reason to go, I think.

I'm pretty excited for this. At first I wasn't going to buy it, but being on GAF and seeing the excitement from many people, I thought I'd try it out.

The 3DS seems to be the gateway to Nintendo franchises that I've never played before, but wanted to start playing. Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, and SMT IV. I absolutely adore FE:A. Heck I went out and bought FE for the Wii and GC. Will AC have the same impact on me? Guess I'll find out in a month!

I dunno, I think it'd be a bit weird to play NL and then play the other entries. Maybe you should play one of the other AC games for a month and see whether you like it or not and then get NL.

I remember I restarted a bunch in WW because I didn't want diagonal bridges, because patterns look weird on them.

Doubt it'll make you want to go back and play others; it's not really that kind of game.

You'll be too attached to your town to want to start anew, especially when there's little incentive to do so.

Ugh, the Wii version was so disappointing. So much wasted potential. I remember when they were talking about WiiConnect24 and they made it sound like it'd be one continuous, always-connected world. Hell, you couldn't even visit people's towns unless they were online and had their gates open. It really was just a port of the DS game.

I am beyond excited. Animal Crossing is one of those franchises that helped me sleep for a number of years. Inability to drift off meant staying up until passing out to the serenity of meandering about.

It's always pretty, and a bit of an obsession. My 3DS was meant for this.

It's the first of a series of short vids on localization and such. Interesting how they started in late 2010... geez.

I fondly remember waking up early on weekends to catch the 8AM theme in the original AC. I miss the NES games too, haven't seen or played Clu Clu Land (D) anywhere since.

Grabbing New Leaf from the eShop as soon as it goes up!

Nope, man i didnt get a review copy. And i bet the translation is great. Just complaining about the slow process of it. Sorry about the mix up.
