I have one question that i need help please, the thing is next week i am going to miami to a business trip and i want to buy a Ipad 2, but i am worry that the store (bestbuy or walmart) won´t sell me one because i have read that you need to reserve one from the website before going to the store so that the store can sell you one, is this true, and i don´t plan to buy it from an apple store, thanks.
No. I bought mine from bb without a res.

Damn hairline scratches already on my week old iPad 1. Funny thing is I think it was my cleaning rag that did it and not my 3 year old or wife. Still shocked considering it is a glass screen.

Oh well, can only notice them under bright light anyhow. Aren't viewable while using the iPad (Thank God).
Oh dear, only use a microfiber one to clean it. I believe thats what the manual asks you to do.

Thank you very much, do you think that there is still a waiting line for buying the ipad 2 or the stores are back to normality?

I was in Fort Lauderdale for the last two weeks (which is north of Miami), and boy, I couldn't really find too many Ipads. I bought a 32GB but brought it back because I want the 16GB.

It's still in short supply. I saw a 64GB 3G once, three 16GB 3G at a Target and a few other 3Gs at an Apple store.

Right now, I'd say the Ipad Gen 2 is the hottest consumer item right now. No offense to the 3DS, but you can find that anywhere and no one salivating or willing to sacrifice their first born for one.

You might be able to find one though. Apple store employees recommend you come in the early morning because lines form. The reservation method seems to be the sure fire way.

Thank you very much, maybe the Ipad 2 with 3G version is getting more buys maybe, but the version i will look will be the normal with WIFI only and the 16GB, don´t have more money to buy a better one, man i hope that i will find one, at least in walmart.

Walmart is NOT your best bet. I've spent way too much time and gas hunting for an Ipad Gen 2, and I've visited five or six Walmarts (between San Bernadino/Desert Cities and Fort Lauderdale) and only seen two, the 32GB Black Wifi model I had and a 64GB Black Wifi model.

It seems like Best Buy and Apple Store are the best retail outlets to get the Ipad Gen 2. If you want to definitely get the 16GB wifi model (which is what I'm after), I'd suggest reserving it on the Apple Store, maybe Aventura Apple Store if you're going to be in the area.

If you're going to be there next week, then Target, Walmart and Radio Shack will be supply starved.

I used a link in this thread that lead to another sites stock checker to find mine. It was totally accurate too. No idea how stock is as I got mine prior to the Japan earthquake

Does anyone know how long the shipments are taking from Apple.com? The site says 2-3 weeks but I was wondering if they're getting out any sooner than that?

I've heard they ship faster than the quoted date. Might want to give it a try.

It's the oleophobic coating I think. Happened to my iPad 1 and iPhone 4. It's just easier to scratch than glass.

That is what I was thinking it was since when the screen is on you can't see anything during use and especially an all white background. It literally looks like a 1 inch hair laying on the screen.

Well, this kind of was. It was from an eyeglass cleaning kit I always use for my Touch and Droid X but I think it just needs to be trashed, it has worn out its welcome. :/

Dropped my ipad2 from about 4 feet off the ground onto concrete. No protection or anything. It landed on the side so two corners are dented but other than that works perfectly.

My iPad won't connect to the internet through Wifi. It's connected to the network because Plex works as usual but nothing will work through the internet. Tried heaps of things but nothing works :/

Just accidentally found out that you could pinch a tweet in the official iPad twitter app and it'll instantly bring up the user's profile. Pretty nifty.

Ive had my iPad for about 2 weeks now, and Im really not digging the stock email app. Coming directly from an Outlook 2007 interface, Apple's basic email layout is vanilla, to say the least. Do you guys have any email app recommendations for something that offers more functionality? Im mostly looking for something with a decent folder structure and junkmail filters, and would be willing to possibly pay extra for something with automated rule support.

Edit - The email account in reference is hotmail, if it makes a difference

All my Apple devices (iPhone , iPad and MacBook) have trouble staying connected wirelessly to my network. It's a Linksys modem. Basically, the wireless connection symbol stays visible, but eventually everything starts timing out and I have to either turn the wifi off and on on the device or I have to renew the lease.

I've tried upgrading and downgrading from WPA to WPA2 and my channel is 11.

Any suggestions?

Gmail.

Atomixmag, "The first videogame magazine designed specifically for the iPad" is great. I miss the 1up Show and Co-op so I hope this works out. Subscriptions will be available soon (the first iPad only content subscription I'll be signing up for) but for $1 an issue I'll definitely be buying every month.

I found a guide to convert videos to the specific format that iMovie for the iPad will support: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF8-sDmD_1Y (yes, you have to follow the steps exactly, including importing the files to iPhoto on the Mac first). Wasted a few hours and it wasn't worth it imo.

I regret getting the 16GB iPad. I'm running out of space because if apps like djay, GarageBand and iMovie which need the media content to be available locally to work with (and of course I can't just stick in a harddrive when I need to swap out files). I'll have to find someone willing to make a trade so I can get the 32GB.

Alright so I finally got my iPad 2 today and I was really excited....till it came to hooking it up. I simply can not get the damn thing to connect to my PC.

I have Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I connect my iPad I get a "USB Device Not Recognised" error. I have tried everything I can think of. Different USB ports, different USB cable, uninstalled all Apple Software and reinstalled. Device manager initially picked it up as a Serial USB connection, went in and manually searched for drivers via Have Disk option, this gets the PC to read the iPad as an Apple Mobile Device usb, but I get a Code 10 error during installation and again, a little ! telling me that while Apple Mobile Device is connected, I still can't connect.

It's really pissing me off. My iPod Touch 3rd Gen connects flawlessly everytime, but this damn iPad 2 just will not connect. I've got the latest version of iTunes etc and I've uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now.

Wtf is going here?

Ok, Kindle vs. iBook.

I found a book on Kindle that's $39.99. Then I search for the book on iBook and it's $89.99. Is this common?

Several of the books that I've looked at have been the same.. about half the price on Kindle.

Your iPad is fucked. Take it back.

Which router/linksys router?

I've had a couple of instances where these things are happening (or the iOS devices aren't getting good speeds) and each time it was an older firmware or outdated router. One time it was this old POS Airlink router (that we later found out also didn't support Windows 7 lol). Each time once the router was replaced to something new or the firmware was updated it solved the problem.

I think most everything is cheaper in the kindle store. I've pretty much stopped using ibooks completely. :\

Kindle is the way to go if only for the fact that you can use it on non apple devices as well.

I don't know if it's common or not, but I know that as a Canadian, most books that are offered on Amazon aren't offered in the iBookstore. Sort of makes it useless.

Speaking of Kindle / iBooks....

I have a Kindle in addition to an iPad, so I thought it'd be nice to be able to read content that is mostly text on my Kindle and a mixture of graphics and text (like magazines and whatnot) on my iPad.

I've been looking at a few photography books that have a lot of images in them, but really are formatted for a mobile device. That's fine with me, but when I try to enlarge the images to see them they're all way pixelated in both the Kindle app and in iBooks. Any alternative book readers that might bypass this?

OK, so it seems for both selection and price Kindle is vastly superior. Thanks guys! Does Kindle offer enhanced books like iBooks? I downloaded a preview of Chaos (one of my fav books of all time) and the charts are animated plus there are web links. That's pretty cool. I would pay up for that.

The GmailApp app, which I assume you are referring to, seems like it only works for a Gmail email account. I have hotmail if it matters.

I think it's ironic that you complained about something resembling an interface from 2007 and you are using hotmail.

I have a question about the pages app. If I buy it can I type up an essay on it and then transfer the file to a pc and then convert it into a word document? And if so is it fairly simple?

hotmail's web interface is rather fantastic, actually.

Daaaaamn. That sucks. Maybe try returning it? Maybe they'll be nice and let you exchange it?

Lol, I wish!

I kinda like the rough look I got going now. It says to people I'm not afraid to take my iPad off road, to live a bit dangerously.

Or that i'm a massive klutz.

Ok. I've turned over to the dark side. I recently acquired a 64GB Wifi + 3G.

This is actually an incredible useful business tool, as a photographer.

For reserve and pick up in store, am I guaranteed an ipad if i reserve?

I don't want to drive down to the mall downtown if I'm not.
