Apple September Event 2017 |OT| A Top-Notch Keynote

I'm wondering how easy it would be to cancel your preorder and reserve a phone in store with the IUP. I plan to check the local Apple store inventory here in case something pops up locally while my online preorder shows a Nov/Dec shipping date.

I just realized the 1000 dollar barrier kind of sucks. Not because I'm dumb and will spend the money on it but because so many people are going to say, I can't believe you spent 1000 on an iphone.

The pre-ordering is always a nightmare. I really want the X so it sucks it is supposed to have a delayed release

Who cares what people think about your purchase decisions?

I does sound nuts esspecially if it's off contract. Esspecially if you're not talking to an Apple die hard.

Same. I'm so hyped for the LTE Watch

My Watch is probably the single biggest reason I still have an iPhone. I don't play games or do anything super fancy on my phone anymore, so the iPhone's position as the lead development platform for most mobile developers is less and less important to me. And dropping the headphone jack really pissed me off.

"Wow I can't believe you spent that much money on a phone. What a waste."

"Ok."

Buying outright maybe, but on the IUP it’s just installments. It’s the computer that I use the most, my camera, music player, etc. Easy to justify.

Fuck those people.

"It's just a phone" and "My $60 phone is just as good. Look!" too. stfu no one cares.
It’s alsays funny running your iPhone next to their budget phone, and seeing it destroy them. They can’t defend themselves for shit.

I sure hope they’ve fixed the iPhone upgrade program issues this year. I want to get the X reserved the minute pre-order goes live...

Remember when Steve Ballmer laughed his arse off at the $500 iPhone? Imagine if he heard about a $1000 iPhone back then.

It's easier to take that price when it's done in payments. I wonder how it will scale on the iUP.

It feels like my phone is priced into my life now.

People are going to spit in your face in the street if you have a $1000 iPhone.

My iPhone 6 Plus cost me a $1000 in Canada during release. Someone did spit in my direction a couple of times over the past few years. Including two nights ago in Montreal.

You may be on to something.

So last year I started the iPhone Upgrade Program. How exactly does that work?
I got my phone later in the fall, do I have to wait until that date to get a new phone?

Who cares what people think about your purchase decisions?

Not that I care, just that it's probably going to be the first thing people say when they see it. I've already had a few ask if the new phone is going to be 1k.

I think a majority of people don't care about having the latest and greatest and will be happy with the 8 or 8+.

Do people really do this?
Yes. I've met people who have said that to me. Nevermind that it's the thing that I use the most in my day-to-day life and provides great benefits to the point that I rarely need to use a laptop or a desktop. The folks with cheap phones can't be bothered to understand that.

I believe they will charge you the difference in the payments since you can upgrade 6 months into payments. So if you get this phone and you still have 2 payments at 40 bucks they'll charge you 80 to catch up to the 12 months.

I will finally buy an Apple Watch this year. Series 3. Most likely normal Wifi version, not LTE. (Don’t want another “add on” plan)

Rocking the iPhone SE right now and I do love it, but I’m also probably going to bite on the iPhone X as well. So watch plus iPhone X for me this year.

I do not believe that’s how it worked in past years. Because you’re giving them the trade-in value of the previous phone.

Welcome to the Watch family. Is it a stupid luxury? Yes. Is it something that every person I know who got one has been blown away by? Yes.

I love my stupid Watch and can't imagine life without it.

Nope. They'll cancel your existing payment contract and start you a new one for the price of whatever phone you choose.

Edit: Misread. You'll have to make advance payments to catch up to 12 months of payments, yes.

Cool, thanks for the reply.

Hmmmm, whatever I'll wait and figure it out

I could totally live without my Apple Watch but I couldn't imagine my life without my Apple Watch.

Weird but true.

I'm not sure if I explained it well enough.

You are eligible to upgrade your phone at 6 months. But if you wanted to do that you will have to pay a lump sum of the next 6 months of payments. If you did it at 12 months then you don't have to pay anything. When you trade in the phone they just pay off the last 12 months of the loan. So anything before that (between the 6th and 12th month) you have to pay when upgrading the phone to catch up.

I only know this because I asked the guy in the Apple store when I used the IUP to get the 7+, I was kind of curious how it worked since it said you could upgrade at 6 months. I'm guessing they do it that way so if you bought the phone a little later you can still get the new one day one if you'd like.

i understand, but its a bit sad we think like this. Everything is installments these days. 'Hey, its just a cup of coffee per day' etc.

Your water heats up so slowly you don't realise you're being boiled alive.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the iPhone X will not be available on carrier contracts for the launch. It'll only be at Apple stores via outright purchase and maybe their Upgrade Program too.

It’s alsays funny running your iPhone next to their budget phone, and seeing it destroy them. They can’t defend themselves for shit.
Haha I've never taken it that far.

There's no reasoning with that kind of person. I just laugh it off/move on.

I could totally live without my Apple Watch but I couldn't imagine my life without my Apple Watch.

Weird but true.

I haven't had an iphone for three weeks and still wear my apple watch daily just for tracking activity (even though it'll get wiped with my new phone, I just like being reminded)

I recognize this too, and I see the danger in it, but I don't think it's impinging too much on my life just yet. So says the frog in the pot.

Apple watch has been great. I've owned my Series 1 for a year or so and I love the damn thing.
It's totally non-essential, but damn if i'm not wearing it every day. Just the notifications and calendar reminders are worth it.

Curious to see where they take it. I would like some different case designs and a lower profile.

I wasn't even really thinking much about resolution or anything this go around. Nice to see we will have a high PPI though. The screen is already amazing, I can't imagine what this one is going to look like.

I wonder how apps that aren't updated for the new resolution will look?

I'd think a black bar on the bottom would probably be ok for now, especially with the OLED it'll probably just look like part of the phone.
