I'd rather the phones not be as big, I like the sizes of the 4 and 5, but if there's going to be a new phone there'll probably be a different size.

Ha

Those bezels. These phones are going to be gigantic.

Yep.

I honestly don't know anyone that wears a watch anymore. Well other then my grandpa.

I'm wearing one right now. For style and for quick time checking. I wore it all around PAX, a lot easier than digging my phone out whenever I checked the time.

I have the all white G Shock and love it.

As for an iWatch, I'd use it for the exercise tracking, quick checking of messages (I really hope Facebook messaging is supported) and I'll use it to check things like time (obviously) and scores and stuff.

I'm hoping the watch has full Siri integration. The biggest complaint I have with the Pebble is a lack of input. Getting my text messages on a watch is nothing more than a novelty unless I can respond.

But you can already use Siri to respond to text messages and emails (well you certainly can if you jailbreak ~_^ ). If you have headphones then the phone can remain in your pocket while using Siri. How does the watch improve on that? Visual confirmation before Siri sends off the message? Perhaps, but that can be done with an optional notification and, besides, a large part of the Siri appeal was 'hands free'

You weren't wearing a watch all the time before you got the pebble, were you? Why not wear a headphone most of the time instead? You can get nice discreet headsets too; you're not limited to Beats by Dre or giant telemarketer headsets. Moreover, the likelihood is that if Siri were available you'd still want to use a headset with the iWatch else you'd appear like this:

It's not just that the character looks nerdy or spookish but any real life person is going to get 'gorilla arm' holding up their watch like that for any length of time just to interact with it via voice.

Then you have to take into account the battery life concerns, both on the phone and the watch (unless Apple does some magical kinetic energy thing with the watch so you never have to recharge it), which would increase greatly once you move from transferring simple character messages over the bluetooth connection to streaming audio. Because the iWatch would still have to rely on the phone to enable the Siri feature -- unless the watch itself has a direct connection to the internet which would be another battery hog... it all doesn't sound feasible.

Given the history of leaks... and Spigen's strength of brand. We have to conclude that this is the most accurate render of the phone that we have.

Which is unfortunate. If they bring that phone out on Tuesday with that width both above, below, and on the sides of the screen, these phones will be so big and boring. They couldn't have come with some better design to the table instead of just making an iPhone 5 bigger?

I see now why they had to move the power button to the side and make a "One Hand Mode."

They need to get rid of the bezel by putting the home button in the screen because the bottom of the screen is actually the dock. Everything above it measures 5.5 inches.

I just spent a week at Disney World. If you stay at a Disney resort, you get "Magic Bands", which are wrist bands that have RFID and NFC embedded. They act as your room key, you can associate park tickets with them, you can tie a credit card to them & make food & merchandise purchases throughout the parks & resorts (you also have to type in a PIN number). You also use them for Fast Pass redemption (you can "reserve" time windows at the more popular attractions and bypass the normal, longer "standby" lines). They work with Disney's "Photo Pass" photographers who are throughout the parks -- they just take your picture & scan your band. Also, you know how they snap pictures of you when you're on thrill rides like roller coasters & such? The RFID in your band automatically associates it with your Photo Pass, so you can collect those pictures online later or as you leave the park.

They work really, really well, and completely sold me on the idea of wrist-mounted NFC. If the rumors about iWatch having NFC are true (and it's looking likely that they are), I'll be getting an iWatch mostly because of that.

Man, they did that band thing like the summer after I was there. All we had were the cards. I thought it was an interesting idea and it's nice to hear it works well.

I'm torn between a 4.7" and a 5.5" phone. I want a 4.7", but if the battery rumors and RAM rumors are true, then it's going to be hard to justify NOT getting the 5.5" phone.

I mean, the battery rumors are most likely true, at least to the extent that the 5.5" should have much better battery life, because they frankly have to use that extra space for something.

The RAM one I'm hoping is not true, and the rumors that the serial number on the chips were misinterpreted because it's LDDR4 is true.

That sounds pretty awesome.

I'm still very scepitcal about an mobile watches though. So far they're all far too big and I haven't seen a single well designed and good attempt at it. I also don't see how they would be helpful in day to day life.

I guess you could read texts and emails. Possibly pay for things but I don't see much other decent use. Payments will take years to be used by popular chains.

To be honest I'm just hoping the 4.7" phone has 2GB RAM, a longer battery life and a decent price. I doubt that will happen but if it does, I'm sold.

Not interested in an earpiece, or jailbreaking. Both are non starters.

And anyone who thinks you'll get a gorilla arm using Siri hasn't used Siri. You hold the phone up with your arm to use Siri as is, and it's a momentary thing.

I'm not talking about having entire phone conversations using the watch, I'm talking about responding to a text.

Yup, what's the point of notifications on your wrist if you can't take any action and need to pull out your phone anyways?

I think an earpiece could be interesting, particularly if they get more and more discreet, like how Moto's Hint is trying to do.

straight up Her up in here

Also Siri needs in app support. I want to tell siri to open spotify, play my workout playlist and to start a running session.

Do you guys really give your phone commands in public? It's so damn awkward that I don't even bother. The same would be true for something on my wrist. I don't know if apple can change these social norms.

Further, I don't want people to know what I'm texting to people, where I'm going, or what music I'm listening to.

Siri or other voice input systems have no use to me outside my car or home.

I use it most in the car or at home. The watch having siri would be amazing for responding to texts in the car. Have the watch read the text to you, and voice respond so you never have to look at it.

Sidenote: Is there a way on the phone to have siri read your voice text back to you? I love using it so I don't text while driving but you still have to look at the phone to make sure siri didn't fuck up the dictation.

I know the rumors say the iwatch isn't being released this year but I would love it if they surprise everyone, would rather have the iwatch than something like fitbit.

Yeah that's in private. That's fine. I'm taking in public.

I thought the iWatch was a different event? What is leading everyone to believe they're showing more than the iPhone 6?
Apple's own hype about "new" things.

In public, I regularly ask Siri for sports scores.

Talk-to-text isn't really any different from talking on the phone, until I have to use punctuation. Then I feel a little stupid in public.

I also ask Siri to search for things.

Because they allegedly built some giant showroom to show off new products. And the venue they chose has triple the seats of the normal place for iPhone introductions.

Any word if this will be guerrilla streamed onto USTREAM like the iOS 8.0 presser? I will be at work and only have windows PC, but this does have to do with my job and would like to watch the press conference on my break :)

Also, the other new products will likely be the new iPod line. Stores have been heavily discounting the current gen Shuffle/Nano/Touch for weeks.

Why the hell would you put your phone in your back pocket?

And the Galaxy Note doesn't look comfortable to have in your pocket at all. Maybe it's ok when you try it.

Wait, it still doesn't have that?

WTF.
Would be nice but no phone has that as far as I'm aware.

Depends what you mean by public. I use Siri at my desk at work for sports scores, or to check weather, or to set a timer when making tea, that sort of thing.

Would I reply to a text while standing in a group of people? Probably not. While outside walking or in my house or at my desk at work? Sure.

I use it all the time when driving, of course.

Hopefully they do the phone stuff first. I work at 3PM Eastern on Tuesday which, if the event ends up being 2 hours long, will mean I may have to leave shortly before it's over. I'd much rather miss the end of the watch show than the phone part.

They always talk about boring stuff for the first hour.

Phone will come towards the end I'm guessing.

Or maybe it'll go boring stuff > iPhone > iWatch
