i just had a thought, dunno if its been posted anywhere, but if xbox promotes the new price and the sft core gamers see it, will they wait till the new price before buying xbox? meaning they will lose may. Watch dogs is coming out, and with it been promoted heavily opn ps4, they have definitely lost may

I wouldn't rule out that Xbox One will become $399 for all intended purposes including the ones on the shelf now with a kinect.Might not be official but I wouldn't be surprised that retailers in the next week start offering sales, gift cards and extra game bonuses to clear out unwanted inventory of the new sku. That will help NPD numbers some.

No major exclusive game release on either console + PS4's the cheaper console for multiplats. Don't think it will be a toss up.

I'm expecting a 60-80K gap for this month and then another 2:1 for May.

I'd say those people are on something. Absolutely zero surprise for me if the PS4 sells more this NPD. I don't expect the X1 outdo it next month (May) at all...and I don't know that it will outsell it in June. Which is fine as long as the $399 price does help it rather than doing nothing.


The chalkboard in the case of the X1 seems out of place. It's not going to tank like the Wii U and doesn't need to be "saved". It may not do as well as the PS4, but it will continue to sell. I'm guessing it will get a small boost with the drop to $399. Microsoft is bringing the games and is still a big force in the US. It will likely be like the PS3 was against the 360. The PS3 sold fine, but had moments where the 360 would outsell it every month for nearly entire years at a time.

I'm thinking the PS4 will have a pretty good gap in this NPD.

I just look at February numbers and wonder what explains it's performance? Maybe January sales being pushed into February?

Funny as I'm actually probably more optimistic on XB1's future than some as I suspect a healthy 50 - 60 million WW when all is said and done
