Are Retailers No Longer selling the Series X?

Well, we're talking Gaf logic here:

Xbox not available - Bad for Microsoft
Xbox available - Bad for Microsoft

Playstation/Switch not available - Good for Sony/Nintendo
Playstation/Switch available - Good for Sony/Nintendo
Is it lack of availability because it was flying off shelfs like PS and Switch? or is it lack of demand for a product hence stores not stocking it or its discs anymore? There is your answer.

Hilarious that you intentionally cut off the part where it says 3rd party seller.

That's typical adamsapple adamsapple . I knew what he was doing as soon as I saw the picture since I've checked all the major retailers for XSX and XSS. And Walmart was 3rd party only.

He's trying to do the everything is fine meme, even though he himself knows that this isn't fine.

Possible they held back on their last few shipments during the massive spike in tarrifs from China.
Wonder if they're either waiting for things to stabilize before re-importing and adjusting the price, or they're going to let ASUS take the import hit for the handheld while they collect licensing fees.

These decisions generally don't happen in a bubble. They've likely paused manufacturing altogether. Unless they're sitting on inventory in China waiting to ship them when the tariff situation becomes clearer and/or before GTA6, but that's only one side of the equation. Retailers have to want to buy it.

Unless the ASUS branded handheld is locked down to the Microsoft Store, I'm not sure how much this helps them or how much ASUS is going to be willing to pay in licensing fees for what a color scheme? If you actually call it an Xbox handheld, that's it for any future handhelds for the foreseeable future. Not to mention that people are going to be confused as to how it is an Xbox at all.

I cut off the part where it showed my home address. 🤭

No you didn't. First it doesn't show your address, at best it shows your zip code, which you could easily change to 90210 for the sake of the screenshot. You definitely saw right below that this was through a 3rd party seller.

I don't get MS, raise the price on consoles (handheld on hold) but there doesn't seem to be many, releasing games on PS5 yet bought Activision/Blizzard etc. So their plan with buying the studios they got is to publish on PS5 and GamePass subs? Am I missing a plan here that seems like a good idea?

Seems like Nadella's way out on Xbox Series hardware. They quietly discontinued Xbox Series without creating a panic, and increase the price of Xbox accessories for which will be their focus in the future when it comes to hardware.

They planned to buy ABK way sooner than it happened. This was delayed in court for what? 2 years? And they didn't get CoD exclusivity or cloud exclusivity. This wasn't their plan. By the time this deal closed They had already lost any sense of momentum on hardware. When Starfield came out and didn't move the needle at all on hardware or GamePass, it became clear they were pushing a boulder uphill.

Xbox moving forward will be a multiplatform publisher, with accessories for PC and cloud gaming, a cloud platform, and GamePass. They also might do an Alienware style desktop and laptop line featuring an Xbox ecosystem for those willing to pay a premium. Their days in consoles is over and the only thing we're waiting for is the official announcement that Xbox Series is discontinued or an announcement of what their future hardware will look like.

Cowardly and silently withdrawing from the stores, you tell customers that you're going to stop delivering stock, and they know what to expect.

Yup, MS have killed it. For whatever reason.

They could be pulling a 360 move but who knows.

lol... what are you talking about? For whatever reason? It hasn't sold well. Who knows? Read all the interviews about Satya Nadella and Phil Spencer and how Xbox almost folded, and all the leaked e-mail from the ABK court cases...

How do you let yourself live in a state of such blissful denial?

They've cultivated a cult. They know damn well you don't just flip a switch and everything will be okay. Phil will probably need heightened security for years.

No its a closed shop, invite only basis. Over recent years it has become clear that to many people cant handle the power of Series X or they dont deserve to enjoy the privilege. We have decided its better this way, we was never init for the money anyway, just the love and to save gaming.
Go about your life in the right way and we may choose you, be a good person at all times, can you do a good thing on a bad day ? If not your not in the mandem. Look after yourself and those you love, be strong and stoic in the face of the regime that is all around us and soon you will be welcome and sent a series X and membership to our clubs around the world and if your lucky you might even get summon to 1 of our Xbox freak offs to meet high ranking officers for a special encounter.

Good luck. 🟢💪

I was trying to check for Series X prices and availability to see how retailers reacted to the price hike but strangely I can't seem to find the Series X (physical) being sold at all.

I checked Target, Bestbuy and Walmart but They all only carry Series S digital. I think Walmart had some but it was from a weird 3rd party seller.

Did MS stop sending stock after the price hikes?
I see it on Bestbuy.com as well as Walmart.com. In fact, I was just looking up a controller at Walmart, and as usual, still available.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Microsof...5?classType=REGULAR&athbdg=L1102&from=/search

Right now, I just don't think they are making very many nor are they going to sell very many. They price hiked their systems when sales were already not doing very well at all.

I could be wrong, but I think right now one can get a PS5 with CoD for $150-$200 less than a Series X and only $50 more than a Series S(if you go digital). If you go pre-owned, save a few more dollars here or there(minus the game).

The economy has been kind of crap with inflation for a while now. A lot of folks are going to pass at $600.

Raise prices -> soft discontinuing-> exit from traditional console market without ever officially telling it > release a gaming PC with the Xbox logo

My local Walmart just restocked PS5's and Series X's. This was in the deep south

Edit: I don't understand the laughing reaction

Im good either way. I couldnt care. The next Xbox would have to be an absolute banger with full backwards compatibility, if i was going to pick one up.

I'd much prefer they made windows 11 and the xbox app amazing on pc so ot can play all my legacy titles.

I'd prefer that over more Xbox hardware. But, that's just for me.

I'd much prefer they made windows 11 and the xbox app amazing on pc so ot can play all my legacy titles.

Let's focus in one this key thing you said.

This idea that legacy titles are so paramount. If this was at all true (not for you personally, but for the market, the PS4 wouldn't have been as successful as it was and the X1 and XBS would have performed significantly better.

The amount of people who actually care about legacy titles is actually minuscule.

I think Microsoft is going to have to come to terms with a reality which is being a jack of all trades never works. Windows is a great operating system, but is it a great operating system for gaming? Probably not. There's too much overhead and that overhead allows a multitude of other things to work well. Could they come out with Windows 11 for gaming, sure and maybe that's worth it to them in the end, but they'll have to make something SIGNIFICANTLY better than SteamOS at this point. They've already lost this race.

So if your major focus is on legacy titles, I think you might end up in a bad situation, because the further things progress like they are, the less Microsoft is going to care about legacy software, especially if it is slowing down their real priority which is to be a home for gaming. At some point prebuilt gaming PCs are going to come with SteamOS by default, not just handhelds.

So it's not available? The website is lying? You gotta stop when you are behind.

Stop the clownish behavior.

The question is whether walmart and other retailers are selling it and they're not. Walmart has a built in ebay type section, that doesn't mean it has units in warehouses or stores. You might as well link to ebay and say it's available on ebay.

The OP said retailers are no longer selling the Series X and this specifically says sold and shipped by a 3rd party. It's only hosted by walmart and walmart takes a cut for hosting, just like ebay.

Xbros have been able to close their eyes and cover their ears and live in la la land up until now. But once retail stops ordering more units it's game over. That's when reality hits and there is no more hiding from it.

Dude, it's still a third party seller. The point of this thread is in retail they are hard to find and try to understand what's going on with Xbox in the market, not if we can find resellers. That pic proved nothing other than what's being observed by everyone else, Xbox as a console is dead.

Imagine knowing how to take a screenshot, but not knowing how to block something out of that screenshot or logging out on walmart or changing the zip code by clicking... change.... or opening the page in incognito...

But instead conveniently clips the sold and shipped by BDR LLC and then having the audacity to call someone else a clown...

No, I'm calling you a clown because you're saying factually incorrect stuff like this.

Some of the walmart 'third party' sellers selling Xboxes I can see are their own storefronts like antonline.com, it's weird but these are all sellers selling the console at MSRP. Not sure if that really matters to the end-user.

You think people like adamsapple adamsapple HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 and Kvally Kvally will let that derail the fantasy? No... It's not how this works.

I just watched Xbox Two and what you realize is that they'll keep this going beyond the most ridiculous stage. They'll criticize Phil which is new, but they'll also defend him and Microsoft at the same time and say all the moves they're making NOW are correct, but they spent the last year glazing the idea of a handheld for example.

They can't imagine a world without Xbox even if that isn't Satya Nadella's priority at all. Whatever Xbox becomes in the future, you'll have these guys circling around it.

Hell, you just had someone post a thread that Sega should re-enter the console market after 20+ years...

It's what happens when your entire personality is based around something specific like this. I can't tell you how many things I've held really close to me that I've called it quits on: Dallas Cowboys, NFL, MLB, Blackberry, Android, Rotary Engines, Internal combustion engines in general... Let things come and go in your life as needed...

These are not major retailers... which again is what the OP is referring to here. antonline does not have enough stock to satisfy even a couple weeks of real console demand nationwide and even Antonline only has the Digital XSX...

I'd love to see how the BOM cost has changed between start of production and now. Anyone care to venture a guess on how much it's increased? 25% must be the floor.

How many more Playstations do you think we will see with actual hardware? (not streaming boxes). Do you think there will be a traditional PS7?

Eh…it doesn't really matter since they are not jacking up the price, but that field doesn't show you "exact home address". That would include street and street number. It only shows city and zip.

Bro I'm looking at it right now and it's showing my house number, the street and CT (court) name lol.

The only thing it isn't showing is the zipcode.

I guess it might be cause I'm logged into walmart.com right now.

To be fair, he is not lying. I just checked it myself and your address does appear above the "sold and shipped by..." section. Which is admittedly, easy to miss that it's a third party seller, in small print down there, especially since there are no red flags. It ships free and the price is not inflated.

That said, it IS a third party seller, lol.

Impossible to say really, technology can change REALLY quickly. It took nearly a decade for streaming to become really viable for tv/film. I'd assume it'll be significantly longer for video games simply due to the nature of video games being more interactive.

I still see people struggle to do video conferencing with their home internet.

I think a few things will help prolong the life of PlayStation as a set-top box.
  • Monopoly within the premium gaming console space
    • Sony is going to absorb a lot of the userbase from Microsoft, the premium console TAM is probably closer to 175 million units
  • Extension to handhelds/hybrids
    • A PS5 handheld increases the overall TAM
  • Low entry pricing
    • If Sony wanted to they could sell the PS5 digital for 350 right now. That's a low enough price point that it makes more sense to have hardware than rely on streaming

But if there is an internet type boom over the next 10-15 years and compression and latency are resolved, streaming will obviously be very viable and then it becomes almost all backend apart from the controller. You just have a Bluetooth connection to your tv and away you go. There are also some challenges there that people aren't considering. Priority for datacenters will go to AI not gaming. You already see Nvidia limiting the amount of time you can play on Geforce now's top tiers. There's definitely questions as to how scalable streaming gaming can become. It could very well have a smaller TAM than premium console gaming.

I'm logged in as well, but this is what I see below. I don't live in Fayetteville, but Walmart.com does have my actual home address.

Weird. Not sure why it is showing differently for me then.

It shows my address if I'm logged in, but there are way better and more honest ways to resolve that than what he did.

I'm not 100% convinced that he was intentionally withholding information, because on my monitor which scaled very similar to his screenshot, you have to scroll down the screen slightly to see the part where it says third party seller. It's plausible that he simply loaded the page, took a screenshot, and cut off the top/bottom of the screen that shows your address. He cut off the top of the screen too, which also has your address, which is consistent with his claim.

Personally, I would not have noticed it was a third party seller right away.
