Is PlayStation no longer doing exclusives?

I hope Sony will emulate Nintendo that exclusives especially from there 1st and 2nd party will stay exclusive. Exclusives is great as I said before because it really harness the power of a specific console, less backlogs and crunches in develoment, and has better funding. I do hope Sony PS goes back to that principle of having exclusives stay exclusives and securing exclusive with 3rd party too. Maybe soon it will happen. Well at least a longer period of time exclusive is okay with me. Just stop being pressured by pc master race to launch there games to pc at same day with PS console or porting there games too early to PC.

Regardless of what happens with Sony, at least you will feel better sticking to PC. Also, if it ever reaches that point you speak of, it's not your problem anymore 🤷‍♂️ and gaming continues to move on as it does.
I mean, it kinda is my problem assuming they get their shit together, and stop fucking around with garbage gaas games. I like TLOU, GoW, etc. If they collapse like MS, and we begin seeing shovelware such as Redfall instead of MAG2, or a SOCOM reboot, that would suck.

There is no point. I'm serious. People here on GAF who have a PC and Playstation, should stop at the PS5.

Again, I'm being serious. Not only will you and others here have much less to complain about (since you will have never bought the PS6), but then you'll be able to enjoy 95% of their library on PC and enjoy their showcases much, much more.

It's a win/win all around.
No thanks. Not until day one on all PlayStation games happen. I do not want to wait 6 to 24 months to see if a game is going to come to PC. The problem with Sony right now is first-party output is in the toilet so it shines a brighter light on the "lack of games" since third-party/non exclusives do not seem to count.

If Sony has no exclusives in the future, what the fuck is the point of buying their console? MS did this, and look where it got them. Nintendo didn't, and they're swimming in cash. Weird situation.
When deciding what to choose, the biggest barrier to PC gaming is that it's a PC.

Some are willing to accept what that brings, others are not and just want to game without the hassle.

Okay now I know this is a shite troll thread.
are you arguing they are still exclusives or something?

I googled those games after he posted and virtually all were on PC, besides GT7 I believe. if more are exclusive than GT7 my bad. which ones are?

this thread is people arguing I should have known they haven't had exclusives forever while simultaneously arguing they have exclusives then trying to make me seem like I'm crazy by getting confused

MS isn't collapsing (on it's software side). You still get the games. There will always be bad games and good games coming from their end, same with Sony. People tend to apply a nostalgia boost to gen 6 and below to make it seem like they didn't have some bad games back then, but they did.

As long as you fondly remember the good ones rather than constantly focus on the bad, that works out better for them.

I think an issue that they are both facing this gen is the vocal part of the audience who are constantly focused on the bad, even when the good ones come and the bad ones go.

Why does it bother you that other people get to play more games? What would Marvel Tokon, for example, gain from being entirely exclusive? What did Final Fantasy VII Rebirth get for it's exclusivity? More sales? Better gameplay and graphics? NOPE. 3rd parties get nothing out of exclusivity.

The key is the day 1 part. A lot of people aren't patient enough to wait a year or more for a PC port, and also spend 2x or more for the hardware. I'm in that boat, but I think I'm a rarity. I only have one friend who's skipping the PS hardware and buying the games on Steam.

I agree having exclusives is still important though. Well, assuming they're good and players want to play them. If they're crap it doesn't help.

I think you were mostly called up on the console stuff.

Nintendo - Full exclusives
PlayStation - Console exclusives
Xbox - No exclusives

I thought he posted that in agreement with me

but yeah GT7 isn't on PC so maybe he meant that to be examples of exclusives? in which case fucking lol
GT series and Astrobot will be the remaining pride and joy of Sony which they will retain as exclusive, since both are the new poster childs of PS. I prefer Sony goes back to full console only exclusive but i think someone mentioned here in gaf and he is correct that Sony is not pressured to secure exclusives since the console war is already won early. Even third party games are almost like exclusives due to many prefer PS console to play there games. Its possible that Sony does not treat PC, steam and even Nintendo switch as competition since might think those are like a different category or world. You get what I mean?

It looks to me like they are handing off PS5 to 3rd parties to carry the load until PS6 is ready.

They think that the final boss who is threatening consoles is PC, but the actual secret unlockable final boss here in the true ending is mobile.

The more power they gain, the bigger threat they are, but they are the threat that's ignored until it's too late.

Better quality and really fully harness the capability of a specific platform. Im not just talking about Ps. I also want Nintendo or even xbox or pc to have there own exclusives. It makes games better quality and better competition and more choices.

They showed exclusives at the show, including console exclusives(meaning only their console and PC).

Nah, let's be fair here, Sony still owns the game and allowed the Xbox port to happen. Buy the Series version and you will see the SIE Presents splash screen at the beginning.
They don't own the Death Stranding IP. They recently gave it back to Kojima. Sony probably did that as bargaining chip to make Kojima's next AAA game, Physint, exclusive to Playstation for a period of time, just like Death Stranding 2. Playstation is still in the exclusivity business, but it will be for major AAA single player games that they develop or co-develop

This is a shitpost thread, but anyone who's in for whatever reason shouldn't expect exclusives from anyone other than Nintendo. That ship has long sailed.

They do timed exclusives.

I try to hold off on PS game purchases as long as possible, I always buy their PC ports anyway so it's mostly annoying to have a PS5 version today, just reminds me that I wasted money. 1-2 weeks after a release is FOMO torture but after that it's okay when people move on to talk about other games.

I think DS2 deal will be different compared to DS1, were Sony allowed porting to xbox. For DS2 since Sony has bigger support , full backing, promotion and bigger funding to Ds2 project it will remain console exclusive and possibly a PC port after many years. And also good will to Sony for helping him when he was let go by Konami and even giving the DS IP to him. At the minimum it might be time exclusive and just port to pc. It will be the same with stellar blade, just port to pc, not to other console. But i will not be shock if its full exclusive to PS console no pc port. Who knows what there deal with PS for DS2 this time. Anyway the game is day one for me, it could be the best game of this generation.

What hassle? This used to be a reason in the 2000s. Not a thing anymore.

That would be the only way. If a big game is not available on pc on day one, and takes an addtional 12 months to get ported, i believe the system would still sell well. And i am in that boat as well. But assuming that they begin releasing everything the way that MS does, then there's gonna be zero incentive for anyone with a pc to ever look at a Sony system.

They can own the game and not the IP. Sony owns the DS1/2 and Physint games and decides where they go to.
Again, look at the SIE Presents splash screen on the Xbox port.

xbox is dying if not dead so I do think it is an odd metric to use when deciding whether a Sony game is exclusive. retailers aren't even selling xboxes anymore

if your game is on PC it isn't exclusive

You have 2-3 years to save up for a fucking PC until then can we stop with these same shit posts every State of Play.

didn't you heard? exclusives are bad, anti consumer and hurt the game.

this is why Concord is a massive hit, thriving like nothing else

I have PS5 for 3rd parties and nothing else. (other than Team ASOBI)

Nintendo is the one delivering on exclusives this gen.

Google "Nvidia driver issues" for just a taste of one area things can often go wrong. Computers with CrowdStrike installed brought down PC's all across the world just last year.

Buy a PC to experience the rest of the madness, that is just the tip.

plus don't fucking chase waterfalls.
The day that happens will be when there's no longer a AAA industry of any sort.

Is Sony trying to do the same thing, or something?
In fairness exclusivity was never as common on PS as ppl remember it when it comes to the biggest selling/ best known IPs on the platform.
PS3 had the largest 1st party contingent but also the worst selling one.

I've had plenty of gpu's. This is so minor, and happens so rarely that if this is an issue, then we might as well be considering psn/xbl being down as big deal and a hassle. The only hassle with a pc is assembling it on your own, especially the first time. That is where the hassle begins and ends.

Lol weren't we all not downloading new Nvidia drivers until they were confirmed to stop borking up?

It's not minor if you want a hassle-free experience.

MS made their system irrelevant. If you can play all their games on pc, their xbox has no reason to exist. And their sales prove this being the case. Is Sony trying to do the same thing, or something?

Sure it had a reason to exist, for people who don't want a goddamn pc. Xbox sales went down the toilet because of too much shit 1st party output and them bringing some of their games to PS5. I don't know why people think everyone will drop consoles and get a PC just because the same games are on PC, it's not going to happen. That's why 3rd party games still sell well on consoles, even tho they have been doing the console AND pc thing longer. Baldur's Gate 3 sold a shit load on PS5, and that game clearly runs and plays better on PC.

theres nothing to show, all the games either not exist or still in devleopment thanks to jim and hermen legacy

Concord crashed with a rising tide against woke design. It was doomed no matter what.
Look at Helldivers 2 if you want an example what skipping exclusivity can do for a Sony game made for a wider audience. It managed to survive even that psn requirement controversy.

To be honest, i agree, this guys failed PS fans. Good thimg they are gone. I miss Ken and Shu engagement to fans and leadership. But looks like Sony is starting to heal and just a few gaas left which might also be cancelled or flop. And the marvel game is a good sign that Sony Japan studio might soon arise.

exclusives are just ads for the console (store front).
