It's because the doll isn't CGI. They only used CGI to remove the rod.
I thought nothing would top the intro and then this happened.
I damn near fell off my chair I was laughing so much. The voice, the biting, everything about that fight was just incredible.
I can't wait for the gifs to start rolling in.

They are pretty much shown at the cabin, they say "all roads lead back home" and Ash says "I'm home". My guess is that this season ends with them at the cabin, and next season will be even more so based around that.

That was an amazing episode of television. I want to rewatch it instantly. I'm so happy this exists. Gifs need to start happening.
I was sitting here starting to do gifs but it's not working for me. I am using gifcam to capture from DishAnywhere and it's working and looks great, but when I go to edit the gif it captures, or even to view it, it only comes out as half the image. Maybe it's a thing for gifcam, maybe it's DishAnywhere, I don't know. Here is an example...

It's fucking glorious. Better than I expected, and I expected a lot. Last 10 minutes are just plain perfect.

I am really surprised people are praising the cgi here, I think they were pretty bad.
apart from the cgi and a few too forced jokes I think it was surprisingly good (I expected a desaster). it was funny and exciting with many good evil dead callbacks.
I just hope this isn't like the walking dead where only the first episode is good because it was done by a decent director.

Apparently, it showed last night... I had my dvr set to record and when I doubled-checked everything this morning to make sure it would record, I noticed the first episode was recorded and waiting to be watched. It was pretty good.

I rarely rewatch TV so soon after watching but I had to watch it a second time. And then I watched the scene in Ash' trailer 2 more times after that. What a fantastic pilot. The show could turn to pure dogshit after this and it would have been worth it for that.

Just watched it at a friend's house, kind of had an evil dead party. That absolutely exceeded all of my expectations. It kind of amazed me that my favorite scene didn't even involve Ash.
This was the best thing Sam has done since Spiderman 2. I cannot wait for the rest of the season.
The scene with the two cops exploring and the deadite attaching them was like horror by Raimi 101. I was impressed he can still bring the goods like that. Also, since there are many mentions of the cgi. There are a couple of scenes I could have done without but I'm thankful for how many practical effects there were. Things like the head turning, bits of Lil Lori, and much of the blood/gore. The episode looked great.

Bruce stepped back into the role and absolutely nailed what people love about the character. I'm sure he will have a humble or grounding moment during the duration of the series, but that isn't what people are coming for.
