Eh. For voice acting, I honestly don't care if the voice actor does not match the race of the character. As long as they don't do fake accents, it's cool. Spirited Away was Japanese as heck and that was fine. Likewise with Avatar/Last Air Bender cartoon, etc.

Well I did what every LA visitor is supposed to do

Without going into that thread..... I know a shitload of Hmong people who have ate dog ;_;

It also doesn't help that many Hmong people say dog taste good......

I shake my head everytime I hear that but I can't do anything to be honest :/

I have absolutely zero desire to try it.

My dad likes to jokingly threaten to make stew out of the family pets when they act up. lol

I mean, once you develop some advanced taste buds you should be able to tell the difference between pork, beef, lamb, venison, chicken, etc. right? There's no way people can fool you into eating cat or dog.... Until you've eaten it!

I'm just lucky I haven't ran into people who has done that and if I do I'll probably dislike that person and remove him/her from my circle.

Another day, another dog-eating thread. All sorts of casual racism going on. A few highlights:

Koreans Try Dog Meat

Not to defend blade up there but doesn't that make sense? I mean, you can buy dog meat in Korea (and China and other places), so I'm guessing these Koreans didn't eat dog before (I didn't see the thread so I don't know for sure) right? But still it's not necessarily shocking or intereting if Koreans eat a dog? Pretty sure it's illegal in the USA, or at least so taboo that there are no dog restaurants... So it would be more interesting and as he said, make more sense to have Americans eating dog meat? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here but don't think that was racism, and maybe be careful on calling shit out especially in a place where they presumably aren't reading ? I don't know what you'd be hoping to solve by not addressing it directly. Though maybe you did, I didn't check the thread as I said.

As for me and dog meat, my boss took me to a place in Shanghai well known for their dog meat soup. It was late at night and they were closing down and had run out of dog... We went around the corner and got lamb instead. So as far as I know I've never ate dog but I was pretty close, I would try it though and I love dogs more than anything. I've tried just about every other animal out here (and around the world) from centipedes and scorpions to donkeys, pigs, camels, crocs, snakes and everything in between. Eating is fun. Killing animals sucks. Do what you gotta do. I was also a vegetarian for 4 years back in a previous lifetime.

I'm hoping to go to the dog meat festival one of these years here in China, take lots of photos, probably have a taste too. I've seen dogs getting slaughtered here on the street ... Think I have pics of it on my Flickr from a few years back. Could link it if anyone has any interest.

Bored on the train, forgive my ramblings.

I meant for that what Vern is saying.

Those "X country tries....." Is usually something that is foreign to their country. The first popular ones were Korean Girls try American snacks.

To me, the video makes more sense if they got Americans (or any nationality that isn't from a country where you can purchase dog meat fairly regularly) to try it.

That would be more in the style of these "X country eats X videos".

That one really popular one was Koreans watch American Porn. It wouldn't have been special had they done "Koreans watch Korean porn."
