WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!

I thought that was my browser sticking, it was the game? I closed my browser played another video then went back to this one and it was still sticking. WOW.

lol, i thought chrome was lagging too.

The worst thing about this gif is the screen tearing. Is it really that bad or is it just the gif?

to be fair i'm pretty sure that's alpha and the tearing isn't as bad

There's the obvious problem, but I'm more distracted by the arrays of people downstairs, who seem to *all* be standing with their hands on their hips with an arched back.

This isn't Assassin's Creed. This is Just Dance: Line Dancin' Edition.

Are these technical issues plaguing all platforms?

Sorry for not reading the whole thread guys, I'm strapped for time.

I called them out for this with the PS3 version of AC: III, which I found to be intolerable within cities. At the time not many people seemed to care. I eventually completed the game on PC with a silky-smooth frame rate and enjoyed the experience (maybe because I'm British and the history was not something I was taught at school).

Now that next gen is here and they have been caught out playing the same trick (demo of PC version being passed off as another platform) I can't help but laugh. Expectations are higher this time around Ubi; you can't pass off the weakness of the patform for your poor decision to focus on fancy lighting and ten million npc's over frame rate.

Yes, you need the core gameplay experience to be good as well, but when parkour and general manoeuvrability are central to that gameplay, and you don't have a smooth frame rate - that's a problem.

The performance problems are simply do to the fact the main character wears velvet. This is a taxing shader.

The crowds have zero impact on performance (each core can handle roughly 1667 AI routines at 16ms). In fact, they exist to distract from it.

What would be even worse is if Ubisoft just deliberately left the PS4 version at xbone's shit performance level for parity when they could have optimize it.

I feel like my eyes were "opened" after Watch Dogs. After just the history with that game and then what the final product turned out to be I just became numb to what Ubisoft has to offer, including in this franchise. Maybe I'll give FC 4 a go, but won't be right away.

Doesn't surprise at all with the performance. Saw it at EGX and it crashed 3 times during the presentation. Was like oh haha and then they gave us some gifts as a sorry.

wtf, did I see playstationlifestyle just give it a 10/10?

so, what exactly does a site need to do to be banned? Because dear god, that totally wasn't paid, and the review is utterly fucking garbage. The review looks like the description for shit I would read on the back of the game case.

Good thing is you can shorten your game play experience with micro transactions!
Maybe they can implement an option to buy more fps?

Atrocious fps is right. I can't think of a game that needs to run with AA like Unity does.
Game is running on a brand new SSD and the latest Unity beta driver.

Unity does achieve the image quality standards best looking games have set but it does that at nearly twice the cost. The PC version looks great, differentiation from consoles is certainly there. It's not a bad PC port, rather it's game with poor baseline characteristics. Tessellation has yet to make it's way into the game, I have no doubt it will look even better but at what cost?

I'll buy that for a dollar! Seriously though people should really punish these kinds of practices, it's unacceptble.

Thank goodness I didn't buy this at launch. AC has always been a buggy discombobulated mess every edition and I expected it with this one as well. This is actually the first AC I didn't buy at launch too lol. I find it hilarious though that yesterday they made that statement about using power. My ass! Farcry 4 now has lost a launch day purchase due to this and The Crew is not being bought until bargain bin.

Done with the BS from them.

Maybe Arno should of been a women. It would probably run better.

They thought, with those issues, releasing this for $60 was acceptable. Of course it could not be delayed, those shareholders would scream and say some not very nice things.

Ubisoft just should have held this back. It's done them a huge amount of harm and really damaged their customer trust. What a mess.

Here’s Unity‘s World Level Design Director, Nicolas Guerin:

“At Ubisoft for a long time we wanted to push 60 fps. I don’t think it was a good idea because you don’t gain that much from 60 fps and it doesn’t look like the real thing. It’s a bit like The Hobbit movie, it looked really weird.

“And in other games it’s the same – like the Rachet and Clank series [where it was dropped]. So I think collectively in the video game industry we’re dropping that standard because it’s hard to achieve, it’s twice as hard as 30fps, and its not really that great in terms of rendering quality of the picture and the image.”

The game’s creative director, Alex Amancio also chimed in that 30 fps “feels more cinematic” and that “it actually feels better for people when it’s at 30 fps.”

Woooooow

I went ahead and got it as my free game anyways since I just needed one game I can burn through real quick and trade in for 40 dollars towards GTA V.

Let's see just how atrocious that FPS really is. Am I the only one playing it on Xbone?

I don't understand how the framerate is constantly low. Even if I'm in an enclosed environment with zero NPCs, it still sinks below 20fps at times! It's absolutely insane.

Really disappointed to hear about the frame rate on consoles.

The game runs well enough on my fairly powerful PC.

They really should have figured out how to get it to at least 30fps on consoles, even if it meant reducing crowd density and other graphical options.

I remember trying to play Brotherhood on PS3 and and being disgusted with how often it dipped into 20s. I ended up dropping it after 10 hours or so and played it again later on the PC.

Watched several video reviews now of both the PS4 and the XboxOne as well as Gamersyde footage....

Holy fuck.. that framerate is some bullshit and just unacceptable

Yeah, unless they patch that, I think I'll pass on this one. Ubisoft seems super intent on repeating the same shit they did last generation as far as performance in open-world games.
Sure it won't be long until we get Far Cry 3 levels of optimization....
