If Towerborne hits 2024 its pretty hard to complain. That pick doesnt even show Stalker. Will be a lot to even try to play all that.

COD at the end of October and then Indy, people probably didn't have time for a big RPG between those two.

A "big rpg" that they already stated is roughly the same length as The Outer Worlds? 🤣

And Indy isn't coming out this year, no one will convince me otherwise. Five months left in the year, still listed as TBA, and the only gameplay we've seen has been the same 5 minutes of footage shown twice sandwiched between pre-rendered cutscenes. If it comes out this year it will be a Redfall level mess.

Indy was originally a 2022 release, that came out in the FTC lawsuit. It's been done for a while.

Don't get used to Indy 2024 TBA either. Out of everything announced Avowed looked the closest to release.

Pretty much.
Avowed was probably closer to the finish line but they don't want to waste it by releasing it at the same time as much bigger games.
Indiana Jones seems to be the opposite, they want the big title at all costs during the holiday season otherwise they're left just with the annual COD but they're still not confident they can polish it enough in time for 2024.

indy is 25 no doubt in my mind.

MS need to stop announcing release dates so early. It's fucking embarrassing at this point, and must be infuriating for those who bought a Series console for a specific game.

Fair enough that Sony has only confirmed the release date for one 1st party game this year with Astrobot, but at least it's releasing within a few months of being announced. It's certainly better than announcing a load of games that get delayed all the time.

Is it though? 🤔

Yes. You can pre-order it right now. Sony have been pretty clear on their recent policy of not announcing new games until they are close to release. And I'm all for it.
I get the appeal of the short window. But as long as I do have stuff to play, I dont mind seeing stuff ahead of time too. Within reason.

They announced in June i think it was releasing in November, now a small delay i don't see the issue.

Astro Bot date was announce in May, so a similar time scale.

Edit: Mr Apple below has corrected me, it never even had a date officially until now, again a similar timeframe to Astro bot, What's the problem?

IIRC they never put a date on it before, just 2024. November was from a leaked Obsidian article that was edited after it got discovered.

This is the first time they've put an actual date on it.

Avowed was announced July 2021 and is now being released in 2025. Astrobot was announced this year, and is being released this year. I know which kind of announcement I prefer.

I notice that Wow xpac/ Diablo xpac and Starfield xpac always get touted as MS content. Which is true, but none of them are on GP. So as someone who can't stand CoD, Avowed and Indiana were the main GP titles I was interested in this year. So another year of the sub will pass by without value (for me). So much for stacking subs.

I did, and only one game is being released on time. I'm also highlighting the benefit of letting games cook before announcing them.
Sorry you were clear what you said and I responded, if you meant something else you should have said.

The point is, when you announce a game in 2021, then tell everyone it's out in 2024, then delay it to 2025, it's a bit shit, especially after what happened to Starfield. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it?

I totally agree but that's not what you initially posted. They only gave a 2024 date at the start of this year, then they have given us an actual date of Feb 18th today. I don't see the problem with that.

Yes MS do announce games too early if that's what you wanted to say initially but all publishers are guilty of that. Metroid 4 ring any bells?

They're learning I suppose. They don't want a repeat of last year's drought where they had to rely on Redfall of all things to fill a quarter. Release cadence and quality are what they need and a delay can only help that.
