what kind of pitch did this dude have to give WB to get this much power
He's probably very easy to work with and probably shoots on time and within budget. That's usually enough to get trusted with projects like these. And hell, Paramount was all set to hand off Star Trek to a dude who never directed ANYTHING in his life so it obviously doesn't take a whole lot.

Snyder in a producer role might not be such a bad thing. He has the vision and ideas, but someone else is ultimately responsible for translating said ideas, along with many others', to the screen.

I have heard that he's pretty good with getting in under budget. I remember reading that almost all of 300 was filmed on one rock shot from different angles with CG added or something like that.

As for time, this movie is like 2 years late. I'm not sure if that was his fault or not though.

At the very least I can say I was there when I watched Snyder destroy two of America's cultural icons.
The rivalry is directly lifted The Dark Knight Returns. Has been since the movie's announcement. There may even be elements recycled from the cancelled Batman vs. Superman from around Superman Returns' time. Cavill looks like a Jim Lee drawing whereas Reeve resembled an earlier version of Superman. DC and WB have equal hands in modernizing the characters.

In all fairness, I think all Snyder did was put it on the big screen.

Man, the DC Cinematic reddit is the gift that keeps on giving

This is top tier fanboy deflection.

I'll still watch the movie but man am I bummed out. I just wanted something solid. It didn't have to be exceptional or even great, just better then the travesty that was MoS, enough to be considered a solid movie. But at this point, I feel like I'm going in to watch a movie as I do for all other Snyder movies, for the visuals and action. And that just doesn't excite me no matter how well he does those two things.

Is Justin Lin busy at the moment?

Why not give him the keys to the franchise? At least he'd drive it off a sick ass ramp

Just got back from seeing it. Did not like it, there's just not much there worth talking about, all plot -- no real story, we don't get much out of our characters. Some of the music was quite good though, Lex's theme was really good -- I don't know if it's actually called that, but the running motif in his scenes was nice. Although the use of the Man of Steel slow-piano track was really overused I thought, and awkwardly barged itself into one scene in-particular. Some of the cinematography was pretty great, too -- it stood out most in the scenes without action. The character cameos were really fucking intrusive though, it was very awkward the way the wedged hints at future film stuff in there, reminded me a little of Age of Ultron's Infinity Gem exposition, really just doesn't work. The most interesting stuff is the political nature of Superman, and the way the movie handles the idea of terrorism, although by the time they get past the mid-point, it's just bombastic action again, there's absolutely no pay off to this set up. Oh and that massive dream sequence was just baffling, just completely unnecessary.

I'm referring to the flawed execution. Premise in and of itself is fine.

It's impressive, really.

Looking at all threads there right now is like looking at multiple cases of the 5 Stages of Grief

I mean, they're free to enjoy the movie all they want, but man did that RT really rustle their jimmies

I just knew Snyder would fuck this up somehow. Man of Steel was just barely ok.

There goes any hope for a good Justice League movie if Snyder is involved.

I think it sounds kind of dumb, and don't expect it to be that good, but I still kind of want to see it. Mostly just because of the moviegoing experience. I think.

Loves dark things
Loves DC
Loves Man of Steel
Loves Frank Millers Allstar Batman
Loves destruction porn

I think I'm gonna like this.

Sure is

(Personally, I put way more value in audience thoughts than critics)

The movie isn't even out yet, those people haven't actually seen it.

And user scores on the internet are a horrible metric for most things. A lot of it is hyperbole in the form of 0s and 10s which makes the average rating useless.

I listened to a review of the movie. Long review. Yeah, I'm positive that people are gonna like the movie more than what the reviews say.

Statistically it all evens out in the end. Hence why most movies, critic and audience ratings tend to be pretty close

And there are about 1,000 reviews so far: I'd say that's a realistic number considering that many got to see early screenings due to the IMAX thing last year

Are they time travelers?

That rating is garbage, the movie isn't even out in the States yet. It's not going to stay there.
It opened in Europe last night...
