Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

I hated that movie with a passion and I even liked the first Captain America movie.

Cap 1 was a neat little pulp adventure flick. Joe Johnston did a pretty swell job at hearkening back to an older era of film making as well as capturing the feel of early Cap comics.

I feel about it the same way I feel about Ant-Man and Deadpool. Like it, don't love it, happy it exists.

39%? Shields collapsing!

- Competent director
- 3 top notch actors
- R-rating
- Joker

That's pretty hard to fuck up. Jared Leto for sure is not doing shit movies.

If its anything a movie industry friend of mine saw early cuts of both last year and said if WB knew what they were doing they would give Goyer the keys to the DCU. He thought that cut of Dawn Of Justice was sloppy but fine though.

if this film sours all the immense batman goodwill that nolan built up then snyder will have to apologize to me, apologize to the breakfast club and apologize to WB/DC

batman's my GOAT. it's bad enough spiderman was subjected to those marc webb films.

AND for anyone who may have seen the movie; what would you suggest is the age limit when it comes to kids?
I know it's rated PG-13 and all kids are different blah blah blah... but the movie has been everywhere for a while now and our 7 year olds are dying to see it. I still won't let them watch the Dark Knight/Rises just to give you an idea of what we think is appropriate.

Took my eight year old daughter who was hyped to see it. There was one intense nightmare scene that Bruce had that shook her. She really got attached to the films characters and was crying at times.

Otherwise she loved it.

But if you think your can't handle TDK etc probably not a good idea. LOTS of bleakness and intense stuff.

iron man 3 was one of the worst superhero movies ever. just fucking terrible

but regarding dawn of justice.... these reviews have shaken my confidence! still going to see it this weekend though. maybe it's good to have all these negative reviews so my expectations are low!

Browsing the thread again and was just wondering a couple of things:

What did most of you want or expect of this movie?

My buddy and I were talking tonight and we just want to see Batman and Superman beat the hell out of each other and it seems like we're getting that in spades.

Admittedly neither of us have bought or read a comic in probably 15-20 years so we may not be as invested in the characters or story lines as some people are, but we each grew up digging both characters and banging our action figures together shouting about who would win.

For a movie that's basically been marketed as a $200 million version of that, what was anyone hoping for aside from that? Not trying to troll, just genuine curiosity.

I think people were hoping for a good movie. Like, you can have a movie about two people facing off against each other that also contains good pacing and competent storytelling. Just hoping that Batman and Superman punch each other in a movie called Batman v. Superman is a really low bar.

He got a new mask in season 2. And they're covering him in the dark most of the time while wearing the old one.
Basically, they're listening to the criticism.

I'm watching season 2. Still looks like crap. Makes the actor look like he's got a fat chubster face, the red lenses look goofy and it doesn't look sleek at all. It looks like something from a mid90s comic adaptation.

Curious if this will impact box office numbers.

It's bound too.

WB wanted their own multi-billion dollar cinematic universe. For a film to pull Avengers numbers, it needs repeat viewing from cinema goers.

Damning reviews will hurt its opening week. Anyone on the fence about seeing it will be swayed not to bother going. If the buzz was positive, the opposite would be true. And once it releases, if word of mouth is in line with critic reviews, then the film won't have the legs to hit the BO targets that WB would be desperate for.

Can anyone spoil me about the knightmare sequence. What cause it to trigger in the first place?

Without spoiling too much.. It's Batman. The guy saw his parents shot in front of him and it screwed him up so much he dresses like abat and beats up bad guys.

The guy has lots of nightmares. Afflecks Batman is haunted.

Guess mine are just going to have to wait a while then. Thanks!

What the....so it's just a random PTSD nightmare? :/
Pretty specific considering
it's hinting Darkseid
.

I really can't believe this. I've been hoping beyond hoping that this would be great.

I'm sure I'll walk away satisfied because I just wanna see bats be bats....but damn.

Still expecting Suicide Squad to be a much better movie then this because the trailers have been pretty good for that.

And also because a movie featuring rope guy simply can't be as serious as BvS.

According to BirthMoviesDeath's review, Lex is the one that gives the JL members their superhero names and gives them their symbols. Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, etc.

Take that as you will.

EDIT: FUCK, my bad.
