Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

It depends on box office like always. No one gives a shit about reviews other than how they affect box office. If audiences like it, than reviews are meaningless. See greenlights for Transformers 5-7 when the past three films barely crack 70% on RT when you combine their scores.
It'll be interesting to watch. I suspect it's going to open so huge everywhere in the world that'll crack $1 billion easily, but it could still has such a middling commercial reception that WB feels compelled to retool their franchise. Similar to how Spider-Man 3 made nearly $900M back in 2007 but still didn't spawn a sequel.

Those review quotes are so ambiguous and contradictory

So, the superhero escapism genre is in dire need of a break, but audiences should reject this for being more of a philosophical drama?

Also, Marvel, the sole culprits of superhero exhaustion (if that's even a thing), can rest easy because they'll be the ones to finish driving the genre into the ground?

I'm going to see this anyway. Fuck the critics lol

Lol what? Critics and audiences like Marvel's movies. That's the secret to this whole thing: quality. DC needs to get some and fast.

British reviews are in

I nearly choked on my drink.

This is really sad. I've thought the trailers were terrible but I never hope to be right. Especially for such a big film in which I sort of feel forced to see out of obligation. I know that sounds stupid to say, but we're all going to see this rotten thing anyway aren't we?

I was going to sleep, but I can't now. Fuck this! Positive initial reception, my ass!

I feel this....sinking feeling, that it's done. DC Cinematic Universe is over with.

That being said, this movie is not going to bomb. It'll do just fine.
I wouldn't underestimate just how much money this film cost in production costs alone. It could easily open No. 1 and still lose money.

I see the game they are playing. Start this shit at 11% and have it climb to 38%; you're now thinking "Damn 38% that's not that bad!"

It shows 37% for me now, but that doesn't match the split either. Site is being bombarded with reviews so the percent and actual number of reviews are gonna update erratically for a bit.

This is going to resemble Man of Steel's rating that sits around 50%. But ultimately, nobody refers back to the RT rating when discussing that film. Eventually, people here will see this film and then perhaps we can discuss the meat and bones of it, particularly the writing and pace.

Until then, this is just a silly game of "lols".
