Guess Batmans batarangs will rip heads and flesh.

http://batman-news.com/2016/02/23/batman-v-superman-directors-cut-rated-r/

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has put out a bulletin highlighting movies that they’ve recently rated, and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition” has been rated R for “sequences of violence.” The distributor is “Warner Home Entertainment”, so it sounds like we’re getting an extended director’s cut Blu-ray from Zack Snyder!

There’s even a note that reads “EDITED VERSION. CONTENT IS DIFFERENT FROM PG-13 VERSION, BULLETIN NO. 2393 (9/30/15).” Big thanks to @StitchKingdom for the heads up and spotting the news first.

This is very surprising news. I guess Superman will bleed. A lot!

Thank you deadpool?

Seriously though, how heavy is it gonna get since usually the mpaa is cool with alien violence.

Extended directors cut rated before the movie opens ?

Is this like the movie's version of on disc dlc ?

I guess punching a guy so hard his face goes through the floor is ultra-violent?

lol keep learning the wrong lessons Hollywood.

Wow, what? I guess there'll definitely be a R-rated version of Suicide Squad in this case. Lololz.

i'd actually be all for that cut on a disc. as long as they give you the option of both versions in the same package.

ayer's never released a pg-13 movie until now.

Do director's cut typically get rated if they're only going to be on disc? Why not just have it unrated?

Not usually, but in this case I almost want to wonder if they'll test the waters by having both versions of the film in theaters at the same time.

Yep, Hollywood learning the wrong lesson again.

Are they learning how to travel back in time to make an R rated cut of a movie in advance of another movie six months away from release? Hollywood is scary smart. Wait that date can't mean what I thought it meant. Either way, I doubt they made a cut of a movie and got it classified since Deadpool released.

I don't normally follow this sort of stuff. But, is it normal to rate director's cuts that are meant to be on blu-ray discs BEFORE the movie is even in theaters?

That seems a little odd to me, that they'd be doing this now, before the movie is out. But maybe it's totally normal.

Maybe. But then I'd expect the movie studios to think that might confuse consumers, the same movie having 2 different ratings

I'll say it

I don't think Batman nor Superman should be anywhere close to an R... I mean comics should be for as many folks as possible.

It's one of the reasons I really dislike Frank Miller's work

Error

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
Watchmen director's cut was amazing

All over this for sure. Might be the first blu-ray I buy in a good while.

Damn Zack Snyder going full on TDKR mode.

Though I am having trouble seeing the content in BvS be R rated especially just for violence. Unless Doomsday really starts wrecking civilians.

Wonder Woman: "I never knew bats were so............endowed......"

Batman: "And did you know bats are growers not showers?"

Wonder Woman: O_O;

Hollywood, call me.

Man i wish they would show that cut in Australia. It will likely only get bumped up from M to MA for the Blu-ray release.

Deadpool is MA in Australia.

So extended batman torture scenes would be my guess, and the desert batman stuff could get violent if it is a dream.

Comics, like movies, are diverse and cover a range of stories that can be for kids, for everyone, and for mature readers.
