Price wasn't announced by anyone, so maybe chill out instead of jumping to conclusions based on one website?
I'm sure they could, even so I think it'd still be pretty tough to play competitively on a screen that size..and how often are you really gonna have each player with their own NX at the same time? Unless you were constantly swapping them from different tourney setups.I wonder if each person can use their own screen.
There's already a multiple-tiers pricing system for Wii U games...Will we still see portable-like games though? Wouldnt that require a two tier pricing system? One for home entertainment, another focused on portables?
This seems to be it. 3DS successor and Wii U successor in one.Game Over man, that's a freaking amazing system that's finally going to make me get a Nintendo home console.
Wow, I had dreams of this sort of "console" when I was a kid and I'm giddy seeing something so versatile and fun.
Day 1.
Also, do y'all think they're going to streamline the gaming hardware business or do y'all think there will be some iteration of a DS or GB family down the line?
I've been thinking a lot about backwards compatibility for Wii U and how the lack of dual screens seems to prohibit it. Then I came up with a probable solution:
First I wouldn't expect BC for Wii U to work in portable mode due to the extra processing power that emulation would require.
Assuming Switch is capable of BC, why wouldn't Nintendo simply let users pair their existing Wii U tablets with the Switch? Nintendo has a long history of supporting old controller methods on new consoles so this wouldn't surprise me at all. Some of the wireless technology used to stream video to the Wii U tablet might be useful in ad multiplayer as well.
How likely do y'all think a solution like this is?
He wants it to be a PS4 Pro, basically.
I don't blame people for wanting Nintendo to just release a powerful home console with traditional controls and be like Microsoft and Sony, but it's the one way Nintendo guarantees their failure. They'd be making the same thing for the same price (or more expensive), only it's going to have fewer games and worse infrastructure at every level. There would never be an incentive for people to buy Nintendo in that scenario.
Well, we don't know what the Switch will offer, but I don't see how it relates to the original question.
Why would it be too large to play in a train when plently of people are already playing in trains with larger devices?
If they all have the game, I'm sure they'll be able to.
With only one game, it would be trickier.
I wondered, too. Maybe just for the power cable when you lay it horizontally.I believe the image sums up my whole thing I want to convey
It was a 3 minute trailer...........The hardware is good, but if this reveal gave me an impression... it's that software will be lackluster again.

I hope that this is successful & shakes up the industry a bit. It's already getting redundant & dull with too much focus on power, graphics, shooters, cinematics within games, etc. from Microsoft, Sony & most Western 3rd party publishers & with Microsoft & Sony trying to be more like PC gaming.
At least be successful within Japanese 3rd party publishers.
I dont see the appeal of the gimmick at all. I had a dream last night about an "Ultra Nintendo Entertainment System" more powerful than the Pro and Xbox S. That woulda been cool. If I'm playing triple AAA games outside the house, I'm on my laptop
I believe the image sums up my whole thing I want to convey
Well what should they have shown?Exactly. It was a 3 minutes trailer and they choosed these games to showcase it.

Meanwhile, unless this thing is a beast, it's likely to also be ignored by the majority of console gamers, because they can get more powerful hardware elsewhere. Not to mention larger libraries of the newest and best games.
.
Preorder estimate prices are always higher
That's a place holder.
There is no official price yet.
I think this thing will be cheaper than the Wii U personally.

Placeholders, how do they work.
Placeholder, most probably?
probably a place holder. nintendo hasn't said anything about the price today. amazon germany and other online stores also show no price.
Noticed the nintendo channel just names it Nintendo Switch. No "the".
"Introducing Nintendo Switch!"
Exactly. It was a 3 minutes trailer and they choosed these games to showcase it.
I have a bad feeling about battery life...
The removable controllers seems unnecessary to me. How many people are really going to play on an airplane tray table or with friends with half a controller that justifies the extra cost and complexity? If you do that a lot you can just buy a separate controller
From Nintendo themselves:
"The main function of the Nintendo Switch Dock is to provide an output to the TV, as well as charging and providing power to the system."

Maybe a non-junior wants to create a new thread? Or is this not worthy?

The problem with download play is that transfering assets is slow (and require ram). For a small game, no doubt, but Smash, no chance. And I doubt it'll stream the image between units.I mean...Download Play on the 3DS is already a feature on limited titles. That will likely carry over to the Switch.

I think this puts some speculation to rest. I'd say it's threadworthy.
iPads get 10 hours. I see no reason this can't at least be in the 4-5 hour range.
Wii U game load just came with a shit battery. It gets 5-6 with the extended battery they sold later.
