So when should we expect a followup announcement with date, price, launch titles?
I'm so ready to preorder.
I'm so ready to preorder.
Both also lacked compelling games at launch. NSX will have BOTW.I wonder if this thing will have app support? Imagine pokemon go but with PS4 style graphics and such? Could this work? I feel Nintendo learned from their mistakes. They will not price this too high. They did it twice with 3DS and WiiU and both TANKED at launch horribly.
That's the official Nintendo abbreviation in the US. I've heard it's because the National Geographic Channel had the trademark to "NGC".
We still don't know, and probably won't know for sure for a few more months.
Zlatan, an user from Anandtech and apparently "in the know", claims the Switch is "3 times slower" than the Xbox One, and that has pretty low bandwidth, which will limit the console's capabilities.
He also claims, and take this with a grain of salt despite Zlatan's apparent 'credentials', that Nintendo's lowest allowed resolution for games will be 504p, and that many games will "upscale" from that resolution.
We'll just have to wait and see.
Hype deflated.
I want native HD on my tv. No upscaling.
battlefield 1 runs at 160p on PS4
My excitement has worn off and I'm now level headed.
And I realized all we know so far is that it's a tablet. The only way this will succeed is if they NEVER release a handheld during the SWITCH life cycle. If the home base had some hardware and advantages to playing while docked I would be more accepting.
We literally have a Nintendo tablet with secondary controls. I can't help but think this isn't going to be a runaway hit.
Every time I see NSW I think Not Safe Work.
Software determines value. It launches with Zelda and maybe a port of sun and moon day one with some third party stuff? Gangbusters. Its bound to bomb hard if it's priced at 300 bucks and the hardware is not very powerful.
Well I assume the more expensive sku will come with a game or more internal memory or something along with a controller. There's absolutely no reason to create an entirely separate SKU simply to bundle the Pro Controller. Nintendo will just sell it for $50.
Hopefully Nintendo has learned from Wii U and offers a single SKU at launch. Make things simple for consumers.
Hell no. I knew they wouldn't pan out when Emily and Nate showed me their Nvidia stuff back in July.Agreed. Also, just read your tag. Did any of your twitter rumors pan out?
i dont trust him but whatever

From what I recall in the video those Splatoon players weren't particularly focused on using the right analog stick. Granted those ARE actors for a device that had just been revealed, but it was kind of a key aspect of Splatoon so I really, really hope they do that. And I'd hope touch screen should be obvious because what fucking tablet doesn't do that these days? If it's not there then I'd have to assume it's a casualty of trying to compromise between handheld and console, and I really don't think that's a good area to make a compromise for because you could either use that middle area for touch-type stuff or just... tell them "ok, now you gotta play with the pad out!"I know Nintendo haven't confirmed touchscreen support but majority of people assuming that's in just Nintendo didn't focus on it
But what about Motion controls. Leak suggested the detachable controllers had advanced gyros. Is this likely not in or maybe Nintendo hasn't focused on this yet.
I know it became a meme, but Nintendo is doomed.
They are too prideful as a company and thus wanted to create an improved concept for a tablet centered console (like the Wii U), couldn't apparently understand that the market for tablet is already lost and volatile.
Now you have a handheld console that will most likely have a poor battery life, be bulkier than their competitors, and can't compete with home consoles from competitors either in terms of power, so porting for it would mean releasing a significantly trimmed down version of the game graphically.
This makes no sense to me.
You can actually see in the trailer that most of situations depicted that would make you leave your gaming session at home but yet continue to play are far-fetched: you won't see friends calling for you at your window and be forced to take your game with you instead of spending time with them. You won't want to play in the park while you walk your dog.
This is so dumb to me.
I'm sorry, I'm so disappointed.
thought about that as well, but then you would think the pro controller would have a similar touch area and that doesnt appear to be the case

I wonder if the center part of the controller features touch functionality

Nintendo if you want to sell a bunch of these...here's how

So what is the abbreviation for this? NS? So close to NES.
why don't we just call it the Switch, it's literally 6 letters long
people abbreviate PS4 and XB1 because nobody has time to type out Playstation 4 or Xbox One, that shit is too long
To be fair, I actually can see people playing the Switch while letting their dog be active in the park. Same goes for other similar situations. Playing a new Zelda game while on the bus/train to work or anywhere else? That seems more than reasonable. Imagine all the kids that would want to play a new Zelda while on a long car ride.
I feel that there definitely is a group of people that would be interested in taking their gaming session at home with them when they go elsewhere.
Things I just thought of:
Why are the + and - buttons like they are. Looks like raised rubber?
Why is the share (?) button an unlabeled square

You have handheld gaming for that though.
No reason to completely limit home console gaming just for the rare times you'll have to go outside and play.

Yeah pascal Tegra should do 720p30-1080p30 easily for most AAA games today. So I don't buy it.I'm pretty sure that most games will be 720-1080p native, regardless of what Zlatan says.
Even if the Switch is 3 times less powerful than the Xbone, let's remember that it is still more powerful than the Wii U.
