Best First Party this Gen doesn't even seem like a close contest

So I was just thinking over the exclusive titles for each console this generation and it just seems like an absolute runaway victory for Sony. Especially if you restrict yourselves to First Party Devs.

I mean I don't think that the Xbox or the Wii have an exclusive lineup that can rival Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, WarHawk, Wipeout. And the really impressive thing is how many different kinds of IP there are in that list. Continuations of impressive PS2 games (R&C), crazy good PSN games (the best original online lineup with games like freaking Wipeout HD), and such a mindblowingly huge list of brand new IPs (Uncharted, Resistance). And just such an amazingly ambitious game like Little Big Planet that is just a celebration of all things video gaming.

And hell upcoming games like God of War 3, and the next Gran Turismo will bring some of the most heavy hitting game franchises to the PS3. But even without those games it's just interesting to note how innovative and boundary pushing the exclusive games for the PS3 have been.

I really need to get around to giving my PS3 some first party love. I don't own Uncharted, Resistance etc for it. Hm.

Completely agreed. That the PS3 is struggling so much is sad, because the first-party games justify the console alone.

Ratchet, Resistance, and LBP are second party right? Sony doesn't own Media Molecule or Insomniac, AFAIK.

With that said, you're opinion is wrong.

yea I agree its sad that the games are not getting the sales they deserve. I am thinking this is going to be a trend we will have to deal with for all ps3 exclusives.

True then and true for the PS3.

I don't want to get into a semantic argument about what's first part or second party. Cuz then what the heck are things like Halo Wars? Bungie isn't first party and Ensemble doesn't even exist but it's very much an Xbox game. So best exclusives then. Seriously Wipeout HD is such a quality game that it doesn't seem like a download only title.

Sony's first party development shits on every one else's.

With games like Infamous, God of War 3, Team Ico game, Ratchet 6 (I'm counting it), Gran Turismo 5, and Uncharted 2, the dominance will continue.

and ofcourse some foolish single console owner will bust out the "this games is worth 100 sony games"

if you look and the Variety and quality sony has an awesome lineup.

Sorry Azih, I can't help but feel this will be a short-lived or very argumentative topic

Its subjective really. I love Uncharted, it certainly shits all over recent Tomb Raider efforts, but walking into an area of half walls and knowing you where in for a tiring gunplay chore wasn't my bag. One thing I did like about the gunplay was that you could switch which shoulder the camera looks over. The lack of such a thing in RE5 pisses me off no end. I suck at Wipeout otherwise I'd probably like that too, I don't care for either of the FPS' and Little Big Planet is too floaty and juddery thanks to the physics to be the awesome 2.5D platformer I was hoping for. The community aspects might have left it higher in my esteem were it not for the absolutely shitty net-code.

Warhawk is the only game to knock it out the park IMO. Incognito made a game that feels like a mix between the original Team Fortress and Battlefield - and its fucking beautiful.

I don't think anybody would do that.

Sony has had the best 1st party games since the ps2 era. I find it astonishing how they give the green light to sequels of critically acclaimed games that didn't sell well like Ico and Mark of Kri. I guess only breaking even on those games is worth the gain in mindshare with fans.

Mario Galaxy is worth 30 other games though.
That's okay because the third Ico game is going to be worth 50 games.

I agree, Nintendo's first party output has been head and shoulders above everyone else's. Between Galaxy, Brawl, Twilight Princess, MP3, Wii Sports, Mario Kart, and Wii Fit they've got all bases covered. They even decided to take the second half of 2008 off to give everyone else a sporting chance.

Am I doing it right?

I feel for the developers, though. Sony seems to have little problem putting plenty of dough into development of games, but it's been one marketing flop after the other. Combined with the fact that PS3 owners just don't seem to have the purchasing power of Xbox 360 owners, and we're seeing far too many quality games sell much too poorly.

yes I am sure Mario Galaxy is better and has more variety than ALL the games listed in the OP combined :lol

so what exclusive games are coming for the 3 consoles in the future anyways?

Incognito made Warhawk, not Insomniac.

Nope..post needed NPD numbers, third-party bombs..and Chinatown Wars just for the hell of it.

Not to say that sales could directly answer this question, but it seems that if Sony's 1st party effort was in a class of its own then those games would sell better compared to 3rd party efforts on the PS3.

I just don't see anything in the exclusive lineups of the other consoles that can touch the breadth of the PS3s.

best fried chicken joint in my town doesn't even seem like a close contest. joe bob's cluckin' chicken has so many great menu items: tnt buffalo chicken, teeth-shatterin' crispy chicken, gramma's famous dreamy creamy cole slaw, don't-stop-til-you-get-a-corn muffins. . .

there's really just no comparison here

and with his upcoming two buckets of fried chicken livers for the price of one deal, i only see the gap widening

No need to boast man. Also, I dont think any of the big first party games sold "poorly" Kabuki. They all sold pretty well.

none of them even Touched how much the competition sold. Sony Sales age standards i think may have been lowered :(

How much do you think REsistance 1 and 2 sold compared to halo? MGS4? How much will KZ2 sell?

:(
