Best First Party this Gen doesn't even seem like a close contest

So what's your point? Because if you're just giving out a list of games, sure the PS3 has got a lot of good names going under the first party hood.

The point becomes moot when you start throwing in personal preferences, as others have already mentioned. And to me, first party PS3 titles aren't much to my tastes. I definitely like Uncharted though.

The more Sony tries to gear itself towards the people that lapped up the Xbox last gen, the less they're going to appeal to me.

I think the problem was that they assumed that their platform had everyone but the diehard Xbox and GC fans tied up for this gen and decided to go after MS's install base first.

How else can you explain the fact they thought they could use 2 FPSs as some of their main first party games this gen.

This thread is almost as dumb as "what's your favorite console?" Trying to state opinion as fact, especially in something as subjective as a video game is ridiculous.

I just wanted to point out that the PS3 is essentially the new GameCube: vastly underrated with a seemingly great line up of first party titles that just don't seem to sell the system. Perhaps first party is becoming less and less important? I'm not saying this is true, but it's definitely interesting.

Needs more Kirby Air Ride and Geist

+1

I haven't been entirely satisfied with the 360, but at least I have Rare to count on for a quirky, unique experience that's not afraid of a bit of color and artistic flair. LBP is very cool, and I hope Sony has more experiences like that in the pipeline.

(Ratchet is just tired, they need to give him a rest after Crack in Time)

Except that it took GCN 6 years to get a lineup worth giving a shit about, PS3 has only been here for 2.

Mario Galaxy is worth 30 other games though.

I may have to trade in my copy of SMG, then. I could greatly expand my library of games with that type of value.

So I was just thinking over the exclusive titles for each console this generation and it just seems like an absolute runaway victory for Sony. Especially if you restrict yourselves to First Party Devs.

I mean I don't think that the Xbox or the Wii have an exclusive lineup that can rival Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, WarHawk, Wipeout. And the really impressive thing is how many different kinds of IP there are in that list. Continuations of impressive PS2 games (R&C), crazy good PSN games (the best original online lineup with games like freaking Wipeout HD), and such a mindblowingly huge list of brand new IPs (Uncharted, Resistance). And just such an amazingly ambitious game like Little Big Planet that is just a celebration of all things video gaming.

And hell upcoming games like God of War 3, and the next Gran Turismo will bring some of the most heavy hitting game franchises to the PS3. But even without those games it's just interesting to note how innovative and boundary pushing the exclusive games for the PS3 have been.
Wii Fit alone outsells all of those combined, including the ones to be released.

Go cry to gamefaqs.

yes I am sure Mario Galaxy is better and has more variety than ALL the games listed in the OP combined :lol
More variety? No, that's just stupid. But better? Duh, of course! You'd have to be a moron to say otherwise.

Not that this thread was stupid enough to begin with.

I agree. The games that Sony has put out really speak to me as a gamer. I don't even play many third party games anymore on PS3.

Every time I start up Mario Galaxy all I can think about is how much more I'd be enjoying it if I could use the gamecube or classic controller. It's worth half a game to me. I kind of wish I still had the $50.

God dammit, I don't know why I even opened this thread. I looked at it and thought "hell yeah, Nintendo is blowing the FUCK out of everybody else," then I thought "I bet the OP picked Sony or MS just for giggles."

Maybe on an individual basis some people may like Sony or MS' games more than Nintendo's, but come one, it's not even fucking close when you look at the big picture.

Though I am one of the folks that thinks the Wii is a stone's throw from being in a totally different market than the other two.

What does this have to do with good games?
More people think Wii Fit is a better game than <insert PS3 savior here>. If opinions had a numerical weight to them, then Wii Fit could be concluded as the better game. But since opinions don't have numerical weight then I guess it wouldn't matter what their opinion is. But then why would it matter what your opinion is? Unless you think your opinion is worth more than the opinions of 7 million + people combined. That is fine, a little arrogant though.

Yeah Sony's 1st party lineup is great. A shame most of those games aren't getting the success they deserve.

This is only technically true because many Microsoft Game Studios releases are actually 2nd party (out of house developers).

I came in here really to scream unless it said Sony.

That said, all of the 1st parties have put out a lot of great games SMG, Gears of War 1/2, Halo 3, Metroid Prime, Wii Sports, etc.

But I think with Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Resistance, MLB 09, Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank . . . last place console company Sony has been the surprise maker of some of the best 1st party titles.

It is kinda shocking when you think about it. I guess it shows what $599 can do to you. :lol

Your gonna get allot of crap in this thread.
I still agree though.. Sony got 1st party locked down this gen.

Microsoft has provided the best first-party line up to hardcore gamers from a first-party standpoint. Publishing Gears of War, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Banjo-Kazooie, Viva Pinata, Scene It, Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 3, Project Gotham Racing 4, and the list goes on really.

However, as far as industry shaking, Nintendo has created some milestone software for both the Wii and NDS. Rhythm Heaven, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Nintendogs, Brain-Age, Personal Trainer: Series, etc.

If the list goes on, why do you have to pad it with Scene It?

Edit: You did forget Fable 2.

This thread is so full of fanboyism, it's hilarious.

Nintendo games rock, though, and so does/did the gamecube
They do, but how many great ones have we seen on the Wii so far? Nintendo's first party output (as far as "core" games go, love that label) for the Gamecube was a MILLION times better than the Wii is at this point.

Though I can see why people would prefer Sony over Nintendo. I cannot see how anyone can put Microsoft over either of them, and I own an X360.

Well XBLA is a pretty big reason for some people.
And so is Crackdown, Mass Effect, Fable II, PGR, Halo, Gears of War, Xbox Live, et al.

Again, it's all about personal preference really.

Translation: I prefer Sony's first-party games over Nintendo and Microsoft first-party games.

That has nothing to do with who has a better first-party line-up. Why don't we list Nintendo's first-party games now:

Mario Galaxy
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mario Kart Wii
Wii Sports
Wii Fit
Metriod Prime 3: Corruption
Mario Strikers Charged
Super Paper Mario

Wow, look at all the different types of games. I guess that means Nintendo is better.
just using for the sake of argument. I'm not interested in who has the best/most first-party games

Hmm, thread was allowed to stay open.... really? Hell of a topic title mentioning first party comparisons then all I see are a handful followed by lists of third and second party games.

Stop using words and phrases you don't know the meaning of. I don't think anyone minds the listwars bs to much, but the presentation matters. This thread is crap.
