I wish zer0's lunge melee attack was for all melee attacks instead of just while in deception. Would be so fun lol

I enjoy Zero solo and while in game, but while reflecting on the game (while at work as to be as distracted as possible), Zero does disappoint. I think part of the issue is everyone except but Maya seems pretty generic at low levels. Everything is +% to this, +% to that and Maya has the coolest active skill by far.

I think I'm going to tough it out and keep on sniping though.

I agree with you. I'm only at level 26 and having fun but I'm not having as much fun with him as I did Mordecai, partly because his skill isn't as fun right now as Bloodwing was. I'm hoping that changes once I have enough points to really work out a good melee build. I'm going to stick with him, though, and get to level 50.

Speaking of the skills, I don't think any of them are as fun as they were in the first game. Axton's is the same, with Salvador all you do is pull out a second gun rather than run up and melee, Maya's isn't nearly as fun as Phasewalk was (I loved being able to get around so quickly), and I already stated what I think of Decepti0n at this point.

RE: Olly Moss stuff

Hey guys just wanted to chime in on that stuff...

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that posted here and at other places and made an effort to bring this to our attention. We thrive on creative work and ensuring our fellow artists receive proper credit is the most important thing for us and without you guys bringing it up, this may have regrettably slipped by us.

The art on the interior cover art for Borderlands 2 was created by a contracted marketing artist, and it was intended to be a homage to the work of Olly Moss and Saul Bass as we have a huge amount of respect within our development team. Taking inspiration from things we love is a huge part of our creative process but outright lifting work is something that is NOT cool. We are handling the situation with the artist, who will now be dealing with those consequences.

We have been in touch with Olly (awesome to see him post on GAF!) and we are now optimistic about a future collaboration effort between Gearbox and Olly! We both are a bit busy right now but we're excited and will keep you guys updated

Just got my GTX 680 working after having 2 6950's.

PhysX on high OMG. It's like I was missing half the game with AMD.

I have an HD4870 512MB and E8400 and PhysX on Medium works fine. I'm sure you could've run High PhysX with your 2x6950's if you have a good enough CPU. When you don't have an nVidia card, it just makes your CPU do the PhysX.

Quick question about the rewards for having an original Borderlands save - how much of the first game do you need to have played through to unlock all of the rewards? If it's a lot, are the rewards worth it, or should I go straight to the sequel?

Good stuff on trying to make it right Adam.

Meanwhile, I got my first orange weapon today, got some orange shield awhile back but was already over-leveled for it.
Nod to a bl1 boss.

I tried medium PhysX on my i7-950 but it just wasn't cutting it. Plus I had odd stuttering issues due to Crossfire.

It wasn't just Borderlands 2 that made me make the switch to Nvidia, that's been a long time coming.

Same, down to playing Mordecai in the original. I really want to try Maya, but I'm not far enough that replaying the intro wouldn't seem like a huge chore. It does seem like Zero has a lot of potential once you get enough skill points to fill out one of his trees, so I'm gonna stick it out.

Dear Gearbox,

In my 17 years of gaming I've never loved a developer as much as you. It's obvious you guys have a true philosophy of compassion at the company, which makes me immediately forgive any (minor) flaws in your products. This is truly the best way to build brand loyalty. Because at the end of the day, most humans aren't gamers, but most humans ARE people. It's obvious you guys care about your fans, and that is something the gaming industry is very sadly lacking in these days.

I'm drunk, sure, but that is when the truest of the true emerges from the soul. Gearbox is like old-Skool Nintendo... creative, badass, and successful at being among the very top of their field.

As a public relations major, it's refreshing to see a company truly follow the route of being effortlessly loyal to the consumers. I always pull my hair (figuratively of course!) when patrons turn on an organization that doesn't care about them, and the business doesn't understand why. All of this is basically to say that if you ever find yourself in need of a public relations specialist, send me a message and I'll send you my resume.

I can't say enough positive things about Borderlands 2. Some of the backtracking is tedious, some of the side quests are boring, and the humor is occasionally shallow, but this is by far one of my favorite games this generation. Every single game ever created has faults. The impressive feat is when a company can produce software that inspires such joy in fans that the faults are completely negligible in their minds.

Time to go back to lootin' and shootin'! Enjoy all of the feedback and praise over these next few months Gearbox, as you have certainly earned it!

Should I ever cache in those badass coins? What do I do with them?

They give you passive bonuses that are shared across all your characters. Yes, cash them all in unless you don't want those bonuses (you can always cash them in and turn the bonuses off though)

What? How? I have a i5 2500 and a 6950 and it cripples my frame rate.

Cash 'em anyway. If you decide you dont want them, they let you toggle them off.

I think I have to play it coop style from now on, have to persuade a few friends first to buy it, I'm at chapter 2 and wtf at the difficulty. Definitely no easy buildup.
Also what happens when you die and have no money? Game Over?

It's a percentage of your money. As you lose it you lose less and less.

If you are finding chapter 2 difficult, then yeah, you will have to play coop. The difficulty ramps up big time around chapter 6 or 7. The difficulty is more reasonable with a coop partner.

Is there much point in exploring when you get into a new area? It seems like every time I do, when I eventually get to where I need to be the game just send me back to those areas anyway.

Yes and no, always a chance to get new weapons and hidden quest.

I like how Dead Island handled a lot of these types of quest. You could just pick up near every thing, so when a quest to get 10 water bottles came up you could just hand the guy the water bottles you already collected.

I passed those lilly seed plants (same models from first game) and I just knew I would have to come back to them once the quest opened up. Sure enough had to go back to get them later.

What ports should I be forwarding?

Google isn't being especially useful.

I dont know anyone who had to open up. If you are having connection issues, try a file verification through steam, that helped one friend of mine. There are known issues I believe with connections that GB was working on.

Hmm, found a 17 page thread on Steam that implies it's 50000 - 65535 UDP if anyone else is having issues.

Some people can connect to me fine, but others can't.

Next move is clearly to bring the pc to the shitter.

360 :( Woulda gone PC but no split screen... the console version at least seems better this year. Framerate is garbage in some spots but the texture pop-in isn't as bad.

Seriously, though, I'm out most of tomorrow and it's not really for any fun reasons, so I just know all day I'll be counting down the hours til the missus and I can hop back in.

I would say it's Borderlands 1.5 in most respects, but it's been long enough and the improvements are good enough that I'm totally satisfied with that. I was worried it wouldn't grab me the same way the original did but oh boy was I wrong.

Wow, I just started a new char (zero) and got an orange handgun after killing knuckledragger. It has a lvl 2 requirement and is also corrosive. The truly amazing thing is I still haven't had a legendary item drop in D3 after 150 hours lol.

Thanks Gearbox.

Don't forget these legendary weapons aren't garbage either.

Played a few hours as Zero, loving the game so far. Looking forward to checking out some co-op soon. too bad most of my steam friends are dozens of levels ahead of me :(

Both me and somebody else I know have found that enabling DMZ on your router fixes any connection problems we were having.

They really should patch it in. I dunno why they took it out of the PC version in the first place. Especially with the advent of big screen mode on steam.

I've been bitching about it for months so now I'm pretty much over it. If they patched it in sometime I would probably send a letter bomb to their building, though, after insisting it would be SOOOO much work...

Yeah, I'd bought the game twice if it had splitscreen support. Online play is no match for local co-op.

Is anyone else continuously losing their connection to steam or is it just me?

Getting a bunch of purple and blue guns from my first trip to
Fyrestone. There's also a mission to get TK Baha's gun.
