Wow. The guns are crazy varied in this game. Minor gun type spoilers, but I've seen rocket launcher assault rifles, some ridiculous shotguns with insane pellet counts where the projectiles move super slow, and some mario-esque fireball pistols. It's pretty nuts. Still cannot get a second sniper for the life of me though!

Edit: Some things I don't like:

  • Snipers are yet overpowered again if you are good at hitting those crits.
  • No "Shops have new inventory!" message this time around?
  • Music has been hit or miss. Kinda bland, but the second maps music is a bit better.

premiere club is for all pre-orders, season pass covers the 4 expansion packs planned for the future

not all, I got BL2 from the Nvidia promo and it ends up all of us that did are completely shit out of luck with the Premiere Club even though we technically preordered

Is anyone noticing physX at all? I have it set to high and have yet to see a single implementation. I have a 680 so I'm trying to see if it pushes it.

I think I see it. :p
I just wish my computer could actually handle the physX, it chunks up badly so I had to turn it off.

Played with some folks around here until Sanctuary. Lots of fun, not many bugs. One guy had some issues and dropped early (sorry I missed your later message, buddy). One guy triggered some bug that had him (Axton) instantly Second Winding any time he lost all his hp.

And like 3 SMGs, all white, dropped the whole way through. Tons of pistols and combat rifles, and one awesome (for level req 3) orange combat rifle:

Will there be gaf'ers tossing their names in for co- op?

If so, feel, free to add me:

360 gamer tag: badgerst

Picking up tomorrow am.

My bad if there is a thread for this that I missed.

Apparently I have to stay connected to the VPN to play? Weird, staying connected is usually not required to play, only for first time activation.

This game is wonderful. I was playing co-op and it plays like a dream. They really did a stellar job with this game.

My only quibble so far is the Gunzerking. It's a pain to use if you got non-automatic weapons equipped because you have to keep mashing the mouse buttons.

So I can see the Premier Club DLC on the properties tabs in Steam, and I can see it if I go to DLC from the game's main menu. Looking at it in the game's main menu, it says it's "not downloaded", but there doesn't seem to be a way to fix that. Any ideas?

Yeah, it's the same for me.

Been playing this with my brother for a while. At level 7 now.
I'm loving how this game plays.
There's already more variety in the way the enemies move, and the guns are great.
Lots of fun.
I'm playing as the Siren, and so far, her power is badass.

I played with 3. 1 was fine. 2 kept clipping and teleporting. They were from the same area.

Edit. Seems like me and my friends were the only ones with this prob. I'll look into it tomorrow morning.

Everything was butter on my screen man. You were fine, enzo was fine. I saw your bullet trails and everything. That's why I was confused when you talked about lag because I literally had zero lag.

But people should still make a new single player character. I just did and ran through the side quests that we were too excited to care about that I learned 3x more about the beginning area then I did from coop. Its almost like a different game.

Got to take my son with me to work for the midnight launch. He decided he wanted to dress as claptrap for Halloween this year and my boss told him he should wear the costume to the launch if he got it done early enough. We got it done and also rigged it up to play claptrap audio files from my cellphone. When he came out of the back room and played "Hey there stranger!" the whole store exploded into cheers. I don't think he's ever been happier. Here's a pic and then I'm off to finally play my game!

That is so awesome, wish I was there!!

Having a lot of fun guys, just playing solo. Is this game really that better in co op?

This game delivers on so many levels. Soundtrack is great stuff, starting off in a frozen wasteland...complete with auroras, and the boss intros are awesome.

Going to have to do more co-op later today, played a little with Jtrizzy, and even though it was just two, made boss fights that much more hectic. Not to mention I got to stealth around a little more. Was lag free and no problems on my end, but he crashed a couple of times.

Now since you guys are playing.. I can finally say.. Handsome Jack will become one of your favorite yet most hated characters you've ever encountered.

Sooo much better. Harder enemies, better drops, and the fun of just seeing chaos unfold.

I knew what that said before even reading :p Dude is funny but mean as hell. Salty snacks and all that.

First time Borderlands player, wow this is great! Played for about an hour by myself with visuals maxed out on my 690, so BEAUTIFUL! The presentation and dialogue are top notch, so many little details! The little claptrap robot is funny and his animation really shines at 120fps, the little containers too when they open.

Physx is pretty impressive, if you shoot the ground a bunch so it gets filled with debris, and then you walk through it while looking down you can see your footsteps pushing the little individual pebbles away. :O

Can't wait to start playing this in coop with my 3 friends this week.

He's already one of my most hated characters after what he did to her. Her being the person mentioned in the first tape quest.

Small weapon spoiler, the reloading weapon turns it into a grenade is one of the best features I've ever seen. I wish I didn't start school tomorrow or I would continue playing tonight.

I hope this doesn't mean what I think it means, because I got the game through a 4-pack, and Premier Club isn't in the DLC tab within Steam properties. Can't check in-game because it's not connecting.

Edit: Just like that, it appeared in the game's properties. Yay!

Didn't really get anything from the PC performance thread, but the game, when launched, reboots my brother's computer right away. Windows error report says Bus/Interconnect error. He tried reinstalling and renaming the .net folder, to no avail. canyourunit says that his PC is capable of running the game. No idea what to do from here.
His CPU is AMD FX 8120 and GPU is an Radeon HD 7000 series, if that helps. Much appreciated.

updated op with lots of reviews, metacritic stands at 88 pc / 90 360 / 91 ps3

Metacritic Average:

360: 90
PS3: 91
PC: 88

Games Master UK: 95/100
"Bigger. Ballsier. Bullet-ier. Borderlands 2 is the antidote to stuffy military shooters. Even statistically poor weapons are fun to handle. Underlying physics of each weapon have
been massively improved - guns feel like they used to in Doom and Unreal. Trading gear is better. Gearbox have learnt how to turn off the brown palette in Microsoft Paint, leading
to BL2 being the prettiest game of 2012 to date. Increased verticality of the world. More varied missions. Even better humour. Improved story. 30+ hours main quest. A truly epic
game once sidequests/playthroughs/badass ranks/loot has been taken into account. Bonus (optional) objectives to missions and multiple outcomes. Solo play and co-op markedly
improved (with more populated environments and more seamless co-op.)"

Game Informer: 9.75/10
"Instead of taking the easy route, the studio has taken everything that impressed in the original and greatly enhanced it. From major bullet points like the story to smaller details
like the UI and inventory system. Borderlands 2 surpassed my expectations and stands as a prime example of how to knock a sequel out of the park. Throughout the game, the
dialogue and clever missions display a sense of humor on par with the best in the industry. All of the improvements would make for a standout title even if it were constricted to
single-player. Considering Gearbox has continued to put this franchise in a league of its own when it comes to co-op, it elevates the game to something more. With its unmatched
co-op gameplay, intense shootouts, addictive loot-collecting, expansive skill customization, hilarious dialogue, and insane level of replayability, Borderlands 2 is one of the most
rewarding gaming experiences of this console generation."

IGN: 9.0/10
"Borderlands 2 preserves the best parts of the franchise while also making numerous, much needed improvements to areas like narrative and class skill design. Additional visual
customization options would make it better, and the occasional technical issue takes away from the experience, but overall this is an excellent shooter no one even remotely
curious should overlook. Prepare to level. Prepare to loot. Prepare to get lost in the hilarious, bizarre and wonderful world of Pandora."

Playstation Universe: 95/100
"Borderlands 2 is by far a giant leap ahead compared to its predecessor, but it's also one of the greatest games to finish off this generation of consoles. You'll get lost under
enormous piles of loot, a good-enough story that's surpassed by side missions, and an absolutely hilarious cast of characters. This all comes together in a giant package of joy."

Play UK: 90/100
"Where Borderlands was 'sent out to die', Borderlands 2 has been sent out to kill. And it does just that. It will easily be one of the best games released all year and the more we
dream of that delicious four-player co-op, the more we think it's one of the top games this generation."

TheSixthAxis: 90/100
"A joyful experience, full of humour and character. It manages to walk the fine line between silly base humour and a more intelligent wit too, which is something almost unique
in videogames. With a narrative that expands on the original storyline in every conceivable way and so many ways to play, different characters to build and so much
cooperative fun to be had, it's hard to see a downside."

Playstation Official Magazine UK: 90/100
"Borderlands 2 is a top-class FPS that perfectly captures that 'shooting things is fun' rush into an endless cycle. The game it most reminds me of is Doom: it recreates that lost-in-
the-moment, circle-strafing intensity perfectly, so that you never get bored of it...If you're tired of brown military shooters and crying out for something different, then get involved –
this is one of the most imaginative and rewarding blasters of the year."

Giant Bomb: 80/100
"As someone who went into Borderlands 2 with a sickness that I thought only more Borderlands could cure, I'm left feeling like I didn't receive a full dose this time around."

Guardian: 100
"Pandora feels more like an actual place than a virtual battleground, thanks to Gearbox's attention to detail in this game...I mean, when was the last time you cared about the
name of any gun manufacturer in any shooter you played recently? Listen, I've played the heck out of the COD: MW titles, and I've used a TAR-21 more times than I care to
mention, but I couldn't tell you who manufactured it... The gun-makers in Borderlands 2 don't even exist, for goodness sake, and I'm already brand-loyal to one of them."

G4TV: 100
"Borderlands 2 is a better game than Borderlands in every imaginable way. Scoff at anyone who calls it a v1.5 update; this is really what a sequel should be. At the most basic
level, you've got the same great experience that the 2009 game offered, only with much more depth and variety."

Gametrailers: 92/100
"The story in Borderlands 2 is by far the biggest improvement. The humor and over-the-top style that was merely glimpsed in the first game are ever-present here. Strong
personalities drive the experience from beginning to end, whether it's Claptrap's sense of self-importance, Tiny Tina's hyperactivity, or Handsome Jack's spiteful annoyance."

Joystiq: 90/100
"Borderlands 2 is full of memorable moments and silly, crass folks – and if those silly, crass folks happen to be your friends, it's easily one of the best co-op experiences out
there, and one of the best games I've played all year."

Gamespot: 85/100
"Borderlands 2 doesn't reach far beyond its predecessor's scope, but it does do almost everything better. Additions, refinements, and fixes all combine to create an appreciably
improved experience, one that fully delivers on the promise of the first game. While Borderlands felt empty at times, this sequel is bursting with content and brimming with life,
making it an absolutely delightful way to spend hours and hours and hours of your free time."

GamesRadar: 80/100
"A fulfilling experience. The improvements to gunplay and customization take it further than its predecessor. Its story gives you enough hooks and motivators to want to see it
through to the end. Unfortunately, it may feel like a bit of a slog to get there, and you'll want to sort out exactly who's hosting that game between you and your online friends
very early on. However, with a well-balanced squad, there are few more pleasing experiences than taking down a gigantic robot constructor through four unique skillsets."

I received mine as soon as I started the game. Right after the opening cut scene. 360 version.

Claptrap's dialogue is even better than the last game! So good. Handsome Jack has some good lines so far too.

Anyone get player loyalty rewards working? Copied my old save over to the correct directory and it didn't pick it up. Guessing I might have to redownload BL1 and make a quick save.

edit: scratch that, wrong directory. moved over and it worked.

First level is a billion times better than the first level in Borderlands 1. So far I am REALLY liking this.

Yea, I've gone through the opening of Borderlands a bunch of times and it never stuck with me. Everything here feels a lot nicer tuned.

Most of the weapons I've been picking up I've always been trying out because of their effects and looks. Lots of weapon variety here and I'm liking the look and feel of them.

Apparently (on PC), we have to register the game from the main menu to be given the Gold Key. As for the other DLC, must be an issue on Steam's end, since it shows that I have purchased the Season Pass and the Premier Club, but I have yet to download them.

Parakeetman

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Whenever you want to play the game, you need to run the VPN.

thats a bit shite isnt it? publishers need to stop with this bullshit since once something is paid for and unlocked on the top of it, really does where that person is playing said product really even matter anymore? love how expats always get fucked in these types of situations.

on a separate note Gearbox seriously needs to add in some sort of "teleport" back to a checkpoint function seeing how you can get stuck in the enviro at times. Happened to me twice so far. :/ It would be far better than having to save & exit then reload.

Though would like to say FANTASTIC product here with Borderlands 2 and am very pleased with it. Besides the publisher related issues with region locking, but as a game fantastic once again! Though could use some tweaks here and there which am sure will be fixed when they have time to take in all the feedback thats going to be flooding out from eager to assist fans.

Little is the new Big
Restarted steam and premiere club dlc showed up, thank god, now to restart the game and see if it shows up then! :)

On another note, player 4players coop game with friends up to level 10 and it's been a blast so far!

edit: It's a great birthday present haha :)

Were you really almost mugged??
Ya went to a McDonald's at midnight, some guys started to stare at me, and when I grabbed my game and started walking they started to move towards me, I ran to my car very fast.
Honestly though this game is totally worth almost being mugged.
