Very good point. I've only played offline.For those saying they're getting no frame rate drops, are you playing 4 player games? People seem to be trying to make comparisons based off hardware and graphics settings, but you also need to factor in the differences that player count makes. Game runs silky smooth for me when I play alone, but I definitely get drops when playing 4 player games.
oh lol, ok.
physx is pretty demanding when the shit hits the fan, i doubt a 560 would be able to handle it on high.
I have a 560ti and it works fine with physics set to high. I haven't turned on fraps to really tell but I have had no issues playing online or off.
do we know any area yet that will stress the card out?
bForceNoMovies=TRUE
DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.WillowScenePostProcess
DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.RyanScenePostProcess
What is a good minimum card for dedicated Physx? Something in the sub $100 range.
A couple tweaks:
find WillowEngine.ini in Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\WillowGame\Config
to turn off the black outline find:
and change it to:Code:DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.WillowScenePostProcess
this also improves performance some but Depth of Field is broken with it and possibly some other post processing effectsCode:DefaultPostProcessName=WillowEngineMaterials.RyanScenePostProcess
what are your other settings though quality wise, and resolution. i'd say its better to try and get everything else as high as possible while managing 60fps with medium physx
Would like to see some comparison pics.
Is there any way to show fps in game?? Or I just need to use radeon pro or a similar tool??
Present day Physx would be too much for one of the old standalone Physx cards to handle right?
I have a GTX 570 and I can play on high. I'm not sure if that is considered old. Though I had to turn off SMAA because my fps was dropping into the 40's when things get crazy.
i dont care for the physx. 60fps withou AO on my 6950 is all i want.
I mean the old Ageia physx cards, the relics from a bygone era.
Normally I'd agree with you. But this game makes a huge case for it. It really adds a lot. It's absolutely unnecessary, but it helps with immersion immensely.

i have a gtx280 lying here but i dont think my power supply could handle this (althoug it would be for physx only)
I don't know about immersion, but the gunplay looks awful without the particle effects.Normally I'd agree with you. But this game makes a huge case for it. It really adds a lot. It's absolutely unnecessary, but it helps with immersion immensely.
I think it looks better with the black outlines.

I just really like all of the wind whipped flags and such. Brings life to the areas you go in as it's something realistic looking other than the enemies.
Or just force MSAA.I have no idea why but my game crashes on startup after putting the smaa stuff in the win32 folder, guess I'll have to live with FXAA :/
GTX 580, i7-2600k @ 4.5GHz, oodles of RAM. PhysX on high, 8xMSAA, 8xTSS.
Getting around 90fps at almost all times, never drops below 60fps even in the biggest battles in 4 player co-op.
Btw, PhysX+Phaselock = omg.

here is a quick comparison:

Cheers! Really like the borderless look. Icy areas look like from a CGI movie.

anyone got link(s) for the SMAA injector?

Ice shots look 100% better without the outline, but the second comparison, I think I like the outline better.
I'm an outline fan. For the most part it's done well. The biggest issue, I believe, is that it basically forces you to use post processing AA or supersampling.
