I still think the $125M talked about a couple of weeks ago will happen. I dont know beyond that. I sort of wonder if coming at the end of a largely mediocre summer will help Suicide Squad. Below Average reviews dont stick out as much if everything has been receiving them.

That's a good point. WB's own Tarzan got totally slammed (less than 40% on RT?) and it hasn't done it any harm.

User on BOT is reporting that Suicide Squad may have had the biggest OD ever in Russia, and nearly doubled BvS.

It might be time to consider whether The Joker + Harley are a bigger draw than Batman + Superman.

It will do great opening weekend because the marketing of the movie has been good. The drop will happen in the 2nd weekend and beyond.
Yeah given the critical reception I wouldn't be surprised if like BvS it has a strong opening and drop like a rock.

Probably biggest Russian release in local currency which doesnt mean much these days given that their currency exchange is less than half its former level

If rumors of no China release are true, I don't see Suicide Squad hitting BvS levels

2nd weekend drop gon be *trump voice* HUGE

Listening to folks coming out of the theater and even social media, I don't think people hate the film as much as online

Like they seem to enjoy parts of it and chars... essentially there won't be a negative don't go see it as much as there was for BvS... I expect it to drop like a more traditional CBM like 60-65% or so

$20M previews is huge. Somewhere in the $140-160M range for the weekend now seems likely. Even BvS legs is going to be high 200s at least.

I honestly don't know how anyone can come out of that film enjoying any character other than Harley, Joker or will smith.

Deadline's very early Friday number for Suicide Squad is $65M including the $20M in previews. They have the weekend at $140-145M

That opening is above every single MCU film that does not feature Iron Man.

Kind of amazing considering Harley is the biggest draw outside of Joker who plays a small role.

Rth has an early 64-67M Friday for Suicide Squad which agrees with Deadline.

It looks like The Hunger Games will hold onto that non-Sequel record.

If it hits 67M that would give it 47M on Friday minus previews. That would put it within 3M of CW Friday total. Previews would also count for a smaller % of its OD.

Of course this is an August release.

Good numbers for SS. Every movie this seems seems to have weird legs, so if SS can can hold decently, it should do OK.

But man, I'm bummed out for Star Trek. They really redeemed themselves after Into Darkness, but I guess releasing this movie during the summer, and following up after the last one, weakened its performance.

I guess all I can say is I'm sure glad they announced the trek to show before beyond released otherwise I doubt we'd be getting it based on the current film's popularity.

I think this finally shows that the majority of people, myself included, do not want old school ST. I thought they'd figured that out already, but I guess I was wrong.

They caved and listened to the vocal minority fanboys, which for the Star Trek franchise is something you should never do since they can't carry a film.

Pegg has right what Paramount is slow to learn.

"Star Trek's home is television," Pegg said. "The movies have always been a kind of celebration of that. They've been events that have happened at the cinema, but I think the true home of Star Trek really is TV."

Mainstream audiences don't want want Star Trek fans consider "Star Trek" on the big screen.

Yup.

Thoughts: I wonder what legs SS will have. Regardless, it'll be financially successful for WB without much trouble. And given that it's expectations are far different from BvS, WB can chalk that up to a win even if WOM tanks it from now on.

Jason Bourne dropping like a rock. Ouch.

Pets still holding on with them legs! Damn!

Ghostbusters' drop is slightly lower than the rest. Odd.

Isn't Suicide Squad's budget obscenely high though? Marketing this thing couldn't have been cheap. Legs will probably be poor.

B+ cinemascore for Squad.

But interestingly A and A- for millennials I believe (Those age groups)

These are the people this film was heavily marketed too and they are also the social groups which drove the film to its obscenely high levels of social media awareness

Just thought it was interesting

The big problem was the scripts sucked. One might be okay if you could get over various issues but it was still pretty weak. Into Darkness was an outright track wreck that made no sense at all. The third wants to be Guardians of the Galaxy.

from another forum.

CinemaScore crowds under 35 gave Suicide Squad an A-, while 76% females gave it an A-

Never heard of cinemascores, are they a good indicator?

Anyways, googling it learned me that Nine Lives also has a B+, lol.

They're exit polls for films of the "everything gets an A" variety. The fact Suicide Squad is getting the same level as Nine Lives is concerning for its word of mouth.

Lets just say this: its very rare and very bad for a comic book movie to get under an A-

I believe every MCU film to date has gotten at least an A-

In all honesty, not really. lol

It really means nothing most of the time. The new X-Men that didn't do well got a A-. Inception got a B+ and so on.
