When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
Okay so tomorrow at that time I'll be on Fulham road getting drunk on mojitos.

But I have a final question for my trip, regarding alcohol and the law in England: do you have the right to stay in a park and have drinks? Do you have to "hide" them in bags like we see in US movies/series? Or can you enjoy it without any problem? Here in France we can, as long as you don't disturb anything/anyone.

If police see you drinking from an open alcohol container in the streets they will issue you with an on the spot fine.

To be honest, growing up and now I'm in my own place 9/10 that's exactly what I'll eat on a Saturday. Not sure if it's more a working class thing though as near enough every Saturday I'll go to the cafe for a fry-up but my gf (middle class) had only been to a cafe once before she met me.

I once ordered a burger in a cafe and it look like the type of burger you would get from a carboot sale chip van.

Fucking eww.

I tanked my GCSEs after being predicted As in almost everything due to family issues, and completely fucked up my first go at college. There are always options.

Morning guys!

I just parked the van up in a particularly scummy area of Sunderland. As I walked away, I saw two 40 odd year old dudes muttering to each other amongst a pile of empty cans and crisp packets, a 3 litre bottle of Ace cider plonked in front of each of them.

:/

But on the plus side, I get to ninja home on the clock today, which is always awesome! I've got shit to sort out, and I don't want to do it after work. I love the perks with this job.

Best of luck to you A-Level peeps today, hope you get what you want!

Great book, doesn't matter if you're slow at reading, better than not reading at all!
I love it so far, it's excellent.

Tunes inspired by TCRS' link, though maybe not what people want in the morning.

Does A-levels determine which course you'd go into with uni? Like which career you're best suited for?

Only thing I can think of that's equivalent here are the SAT and ACT. Both are something you take in high school and submit the results with your applications to universities. Everyone around me had all of these books on how to study for it, tutors, courses, all of this shit. I signed up for a newsletter, "SAT question of the day", had about 30 emails with questions and studied that for an hour or so. I took it once, did awful, ended up going to community college and then transferring, because they don't require those results in a transfer application, to a top school somehow. Now a degree somehow.

Life is weird.

Not necessarily. I got into Architecture with Maths, Chemistry and physics as A-Levels. Although you have to prove that you have to have creative mind that is suitable to the course. Some universities give you projects to see if you are capable.

Morning everyone, I have a meeting for an hour and a half this morning :/

I have to go to it as I've received three different emails from three different managers asking us to go.

I went to an American high school but a British university, and I can tell you that A levels are totally different from standardised testing like the SAT. Unlike at American universities, undergraduates here don't need to do a range of stuff that's unrelated to their degree (i.e. maths if you're doing a language degree), so a wide-ranging test like the SAT doesn't really fit in. (I got the understanding that when you start out at American university, you have study a bit of everything, is that right?)

I'd say it helps to have relevant A-levels, and there are some courses that have requirements - for example, an undergraduate computer science course might require you to have a high grade for maths.

Good morning my lovely Gaffers, and a very happy Thursday to you all!

Really looking forward to my meeting after work. I'm not sure if it's a proper interview or more of an informal chat, but either way I'm fully prepared and raring to go!

Then it's Friday. Is it just me or is this week flying by? Going to my mates caravan in Dymchurch for the weekend, taking the bikes and roller skates, going to look at a minature railway, a creepy crypt, hang out in the arcades, and generally have an awesome time. There may be some karaoke involved, and definitely lots of alcohol and good food. Groovy.

What y'all up to this fine weekend?

Ahhhh okay thanks for clarifying. You're right, the first two years, if you do the traditional four year path at a university straight out of high school, you have general education requirements to hit. Once those are completed, the next two years are focused on your degree, though most people like to take at least one unrelated class so they aren't burnt out with what their degree is.

Over in London I met someone who was American but had gone to LSE straight out of high school and has been in London for 3 years now. I was so envious, he's going straight into a masters program so he'll have his undergraduate and masters done in the same time as a bachelors degree in the states.

Best of luck Musha, you're gonna do great. Plan is organizing a small bay area-GAF meet for Saturday.

What y'all up to this fine weekend?

I moved to a new flat this week, and I have been without my TV for days.

Today is the day of man with van. This weekend: playing video games in my pants.

I only just picked up a PS3 with The Last of Us and I'm keen to get back into it. There's a slight hitch in that I have I an irrational phobia of fungi, so you can imagine how pleased I was the first time I saw a shroomy corpse. Oh God. D;

A girl I dub "Rear of the year" was in the gym this morning.

The ass on this girl...she fucking knows it to, every stretch she does is designed to show it off.

Absolutely fuck all.
And I really couldn't be more excited about it.

Going to chill. Probably wear my PJ trousers all day, maybe get some chicken wings delivered, play some vidyagames, smoke some herbal remedia and listen to some sweet, sweet summer tunes.

Ha! I used to go to Dymchurch in my youth. Hope you have a good time.

My mad scientist cousin (wife's side) is down this weekend, so I'm going to show him the smegmatic and skanktacular views of Chatham through the bottom of a few greasy jars of fine ale. In between I shall be playing Payday 2.

I wish this was my weekend!

Apparently we're going to have rain all weekend, which isn't a problem for me, the air cools down from this usual 35 degrees nonsense.

Sounds like a fun weekend Musha! Also, I find the image of you gliding and twirling around as Rollergirl pretty hawt.

Saturday I'll probably have a bounce into Newcastle, get some new jeans and maybe another pair of kicks, I need a fly white pair. Then Sunday, my Iranian pal is hosting a BBQ, and his mother makes the best traditional cuisine! Should be some good fucking eating.

Vidya games, comics and general lounging liberally sprinkled in between.

Haha, I know that feel bro. This pint sized little redhead who works in my local Primark is just glorious! Big doe eyes, cute little button nose and a smile sent by the gods. And that's not even mentioning how she rocks that tight purple Primark blouse; her already incredibly sexy waist to peachy ass ratio is accentuated by it.

Hope awesome things come out of that meeting for ya!

Last day of work today as we have a work picnic/day out tomorrow with archery, bouncy castles, and free booze! Then chillin with the Notts Lass over the weekend before meeting her parents on Monday. :O

Tried that, even got the app, but there's pretty much nothing decent going or nothing what I'm looking for.

I don't know how long you've been going at it, so don't take this as me saying you haven't been looking long enough, but I think patience is the key. I was sharing a house until recently, but it took me about two months to find it.
(That said, I can't deny that spareroom can be pretty grim sometimes, and I ended up making this the last time I was on there to keep my spirits afloat: http://doublebedroom.tumblr.com)

I have a room available in my Central London flat for an intelligent, trustworthy, well-mannered lady.
Must agree to undertake very light domestic duties (cleaning and to provide friendship) in exchange for the low rent offered.

Ahahahahaa oh god....oh god :/

lol, some guy who got fired yesterday just emailed me asking for a reference. Only time I ever recall working with him was when he got stuck getting a program to work. It was like for only 5 minutes. Bizarre.

Oh my god, that has brightened my day up. Thank you :)

Working Saturday, then a film day with my little girl on Sunday.

Good luck for today :)

Thanks!

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

My life sucks at the moment.

Good luck btw on your new venture

Aww I'm sure it'll get better faridmon. And thank you.

Actually it'll be more like stumbling and falling, but you keep your image, it's much better.

Add me on Steam if so (same username as here) because that's my plan for a lot of the weekend too!

He is quite, quite mad.

He's is a research scientist at Manchester University. I think he's working on graphene, which is apparently a two dimensional material that could revolutionise computer development. I think he works with some Nobel Prize Winner who made frogs float using magnets.

...or was it the "smegmatic and skanktacular views of Chatham" that you wanted me to elaborate on? XD

Ah, nuts. I'm getting it on 360. My PC can just about run HL2 on the lowest settings. I just keep it around to play The Specialist mod and Max Payne 2 XD

Spent far too much on my car this month, going out Saturday with work to Shoreditch on the piss - need to not spend too much now.

Graphene is the new shit, and essentially a Manchester invention. Which building does he work from? I live opposite the UMIST Library.

I just nod politely when he speaks.

Get it anyway. Fuck it, why not?

I've had my fuck it, why not this week and that's going out with work - probably be a very fucking expensive night. IF... and only if, it's not an expensive night - then I may pick it up, but I'll see.
