Bungie seem to be working on a PC game

Well you can atleast read lore cards on the same device....

Iris_grin.png

I mean technically you could on the PS4 and XB1 but, yeah.

it'll be a card collecting strategy battle game.

with fully rendered 3d cutscene battles. non-interactive, non-skippable.

Pretty sure this is for Destiny 2. The contract that leaked out from the Activision vs. West/Zampella lawsuit through the LA Times stated the second game would drop the last-gen consoles and make the jump to PC.

Destiny 2: Return of Destiny

Well while I kind of want to try Destiny, the game doesn't seem to have a whole lot of value for cost.
It's like Giant Bomb said at one point, the Destiny 5 years from now or even 10 years from now will probably be the Destiny we should have started with.

A ridiculous and overblown statement. It is getting old.

When is Destiny 2 due though? I was under the impression more mini expansions were planned for after The Taken King until the full sequel drops, meaning Destiny 2 would be still 12+ months away. Bungie/Activision could easily get away with dropping a PC build of the first and still capitalise on future expansion packs.

I was under the impression they were pivoting away from paid expansions and towards ongoing free content and social F2P monetization (cosmetics, for example) beginning with The Taken King. Maybe I'm out of the loop or read the wrong things. But if I am correct, then expanding the platform availability is pretty smart.

I'm leaning towards the project in question being a port of Destiny rather than the sequel.

Why would anybody think it's anything other than Destiny? It's printing money right now, and Activision has their fingers in it.

Got to be Destiny. Seems to have sold really well on console so pretty sure Acti will be keen Bungie push it out on PC too.

Yeah. I'd rather it be anything different, but that is not very likely at all.

I think Acti are really wanting some kind of money maker on PC. There only mainstay is COD and it is consistently performing more miserably on PC as they fail to keep up with other competing games. Meanwhile Blizzard are doing their usual thing pretty well and diversifying a little. I'm surprised they haven't learnt from them

It actually made little sense to me why they didn't make a PC release of Destiny already. I would think the PC community would totally eat it up. Its either that or they are going for all platforms for Destiny 2.

It's funny, I think Activision would make okay PC money if they weren't so goddamn stingy discounting anything.

Most likely just a port of Destiny to the pc.

Bungie has just long given up on the PC as a focus for their games and I believe most of the original lead developers that were around for their Myth/Marathon/Oni days have left.

One of my all time gaming dreams would be to get a new Myth game.

I played Myth II soooooooo much back in high school. It was like the "half life" of the RTS world.

I remember going to the mill (the website) and downloading maps and mods for the game, everything from a vietnam mod to the wild west to maps and things in beitiween.

The MP community was great and you had a ton of active players on all the time to play online with.

The game itself was so great, both single player with it's epic fantasy storyline and narration to the mp, and there's just not another RTS Game quite like it (IE focus on a smaller force, no base building/resources, no turtling or building new units) just make due with what you get and use your brain to survive the level or mp match.

Contract with Activision said they have a small team working on a Marathon project so its that or a Destiny port.

I will guess probably destiny.

I hope is not Destiny related, i mean i love bungie shooting system, and they're pretty good in making games, but i hate MMO and online shooters in general like Destiny, if they added a single player campaing with a good epic story it would be great

its not that they are failing to keep up with competing games, its just that the COD games are literally shit and pc gamers realized that years ago. personally, i would love to play destiny on pc. right from the start, destiny feels like it should have been a pc game. navigating the menu with that circle? obviously a mouse cursor. but whatever bungie brings to pc, count me in.

Reading the most recent information this does seem like the case. Admittedly I've been well out of the Destiny loop for a long time now, and thought they were following the old model. But it does seem like they're relaxing the "expansion pack" model in favour of F2P monetization kinda stuff, which would make a port of the current build pretty safe.

I can't imagine they'd need a "PC Compatibility Tester" at this point if Destiny 2 is still some ways away. The Taken King seems to overhaul much of the game for the new formula, making it an ideal product to port to a new market.

AFAIK, the Marathon project was only if Bungie hit a 95+ Metacritic rating (And was one of the last Fucked up examples of games getting funding due to a SPECIFIC metacritic).

At release they got a 92, if I remember..

I wonder how well Destiny will sell on PC in comparison to the console versions, considering the massive pre-release hype train kinda crashed into a cliff face a long time ago.

What makes it worse is the people going like "pc market don't want the game because they don't buy it" regardless of it coming out years later.

All the people in here mentioning Myth...don't play with my heart :( I absolutely love the Myth games and I hope Bungie would make another entry.

Same here, not interested in the slightest in Destiny. But I miss the Bungieshooter gameplay and wouldn't mind a new SP game on pc.

But let's be real, it's going to be Destiny, what else would they/ or are they allowed to work on? 10 year Destiny plan!

IIRC the Metacritic score requirement was lower than that and didn't apply to Marathon. I think the only catches applied to that were the 5% resource cap and first dibs by Activision to publish.

Also, to the people bringing up Myth and Oni, Bungie owns neither. Basically just Marathon and Destiny still under their ownership.

I can't imagine a pc mmo/shooter without any communication tools. Then again, I can't believe they released a console shooter like that.

It has to be destiny 2 at this point.

I really hope this is Destiny ported to PC rather than Destiny 2. I've been waiting so long to hop on the Destiny train.

I wish it's Destiny 2 and not Destiny 1 + DLC's. Map design in Destiny 1, and its DLC's, imo would make bad PC & KB/M experience. Maps are rather small with a lots of tight corners and turns, they don't feel too twitchy with pad yet with mouse it could be twitchiest FPS PC has seen in long time.

I don't feel that map / world design would feel organic and good with something like mouse and at speeds it allows players to turn in.

The game is not even close to an MMO and the consoles both have party chat

Anyway the PC crowd will reject this game. It's not good, it doesn't have a lot of content, and the competitive multiplayer is one of the worst, scrubbiest pieces of shit I've ever played in my life. I can't see it doing too well, especially at the $60 you know Bobby is gonna charge for it.

It might not be as interesting as you folks think - it might be someone to make sure the XBox One version of Destiny works while streaming to Windows 10 computers.
Sounds about right.

PC Destiny will probably sell poorly, as much as I enjoyed my time with it.

I'm up to play Destiny on PC but doubt I will double dip unless it is much cheaper.

I wonder if this is the case if there will be an release in spring which is Destiny on PC that will include all the DLC (with one pack being a pre-order/limited edition bonus) in preparation for Destiny 2 for the end of next year.
