Bungie seem to be working on a PC game

Marathon?
Bungie has been very clear lately that they are a single project studio.
A maximum of about five per cent of key staff and five per cent of all other employees are free to prototype and self-fund a project called Marathon, which appears to be a reimagining of a previous Bungie game of the same name.
LA Times

I don't want to get hooked on that game. I know I don't have to buy it. But if my entire friends list gets hooked it is hard to avoid the gravity of that.

When is Destiny 2 due though? I was under the impression more mini expansions were planned for after The Taken King until the full sequel drops, meaning Destiny 2 would be still 12+ months away. Bungie/Activision could easily get away with dropping a PC build of the first and still capitalise on future expansion packs.

The original plan was a new Destiny game every 2 years. I think Destiny was a much bigger undertaking than Bungie originally thought though so it may be more like 3 years between games so yeah its possible.

Anyways from the leaked contract bringing Destinies sequels to the PC was always the game plan

A PC version is pretty much the only way I'd ever consider getting back into Destiny. As much as I disliked the gameplay loop, I've heard from a lot of people who still play the game that it's been improved considerably since the first few months, and the shooting is damned solid. I'd fuck shit up with a keyboard and mouse.

But all the hackers!

GTAO is unplayable on the PC.

Looking at the other tester jobs there's a few requests for people with experience "testing Multiple SKUs" that include PC as well.

You need what's considered a "deep knowledge of PC gaming hardware" to build/upgrade new PCs to test with these days.

My point is compatibility isn't an issue for streaming, since it is pretty much just playback of a H.264 stream and streaming data for the controller. You don't need anything close to gaming hardware or to test a myriad of configurations

:lol

Is there really an audience for Destiny on PC? Game is pretty damn shallow compared to other MMOs (that's essentially what it is)

I thought after the popularity of Halo, they didn't like doing PC games or something. That's what I hear though dunno if that's true.

What was the rationale for not releasing Destiny on the PC in the first place? Aren't the just leaving money on the table?

Bungie.
Console maker cash.

That and it is one of those games that was made for "Please buy a Next Gen console".

Please don't let it be Destiny!

I want it to be something else or new myself but, considering what they do with Destiny I don't know if they can be working on something else...

But all the hackers!

GTAO is unplayable on the PC.

Missions and Heists stay mostly hacker-free, but I don't even bother with open-world hijinks much anymore. Not every lobby is filled with hackers, but there are enough that it's generally not worth my time.

In GTAO, since there is no central "server" to authoritatively control what people are allowed to do, the game explicitly trusts whatever each client is doing. If my (theoretical) hacked client tell the game that I blew up everyone on the server at the same time, the game trusts that and everyone on the server blows up. GTAO was designed to be cheap to maintain, but entirely unsecure.

Destiny is server-side authenticated, so hacking should be less of a problem. I'm sure there will still be some in there, but for the most part it should be nothing like the shit-show that is GTAO PC.

This is Acti we're talking about lol.
Then I'll wait, not in a hurry to play Destiny. :d

I dunno, I've heard too much from GB about the grind for weapons...gunplay might be nice but I'm okay. Got a lot of good fps.
Apparently the game got better.

I'd say there definitely is an audience for it on PC and Activision agree :
Do you believe those words ?
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/activision-says-bungie-s-destiny-on-pc-is-a-natural-fit/1100-6420475/

It is [a good fit], and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is

As I posted, Bungie is contractually obligated to put Destiny 2 on PC and current gen only. Unless something RADICALLY has changed, which is of course possible, Destiny is coming to PC

Those expansion packs are ridiculous but sure, denial
Nice story mode as well
The next sku of destiny includes vanilla game with dlc 1, 2, and first expansion for 60 dollars. If this is the same for a pc port we're talking hours upon hours of content if you haven't been keeping up with the grind that's an enormous amount of content. If you have the taken looks to be like destiny 1.5 so bungie is even doing good in that regard.

GTAO's problems are hardly indicative of what you can expect from online PC gaming in general. In fact, Destiny strikes me as the type of game that'd be a lot harder to hack than shooters played on traditional dedicated servers, considering it's an instanced pseudo-MMO

Played quite a bit of GTAO and haven't found one. PS3/X360 on the other hand.

As much as I love the PC version of GTA V (I dropped well over a grand on a new PC pretty much just for that game)...

The Taken King is shaping to resemble the Destiny that was promised originally.
But I'll hold my judgement until it's actually released

Destiny right now feels like Diablo III pre Reaper of Souls

If it's Destiny, I'll be there day one. The game nearly tempts me whenever I see it, with it's super fun mechanics and gunplay.

It feels so good.

The original contract leaked years ago had Destiny 2 dropping last gen consoles and gaining pc support, and releasing 2 years after the first game.
I don't think I'd read this before, but it was exactly what I was going to post.

When 360 & PS3 go out, PC will come in.

Actually I'd be excited for a PC port of Destiny. Sounds like there well be a decent amount of improvements with the new expansion. I can wait until PC gets a port though since the base version was so disappointing.

I'd love for it to be a new Myth, just to see the internet's reaction.

Destiny is just such a bummer for me. :(
