Wake me up when they do the same for the kids who die in school shootings. Healthy change would occur if, instead of sowing seeds of division, there were seeds of uniting and dealing with an obvious problem in the US.

But that won't occur, considering the "me first" attitudes ingrained in American society, especially the guy in the White House.

It's hardly an echo chamber in this thread. There's plenty of people who disagree and calling out hypocrisy and/or lies. Plenty taking a wait and see approach to the killers motives as well.

It's a healthy exchange of ideas

Well you would not expect Trump to share the Gospel. So that wasn't the Gospel part. But other people did share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Trump just shared the typical world view of politicians in general, "I hate em". He demonstrated what Christ was counter culture to. Jesus says Love your enemies, Trump, not a follower of Jesus says "I hate my enemies." He also said Charlie wouldn't like me for saying this.

What's the difference between avoiding a war -as he has done with several recently- and trying to bring one to a halt once both sides are already tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands of dead soldiers into it and territory has changed hands? I would think that's pretty self-explanatory.

How would he have stopped it? By projecting strength and a degree of unpredictability, rather than projecting catastrophic weakness like Obama and Biden, which is why Putin chose to take Crimea on the former's watch and launch the invasion proper on the latter's watch.

To be fair that was a great way to distance himself from Charlie, in a good way for Charlie.
 
His death was met with vigils and memorials. People went and paid their respects, some prayed. They didn't steal lcds, they didn't steal sneakers, they didn't damage property, they didn't riot, they didn't burn cars or houses, they didn't kill people. This is the middle ground, to respectfully mourn without going berserk over a (political) murder.

Stop trying to put these in the same category. one was a miscarriage of justice and power imbalance that affects millions of people in the same way--state oppression against the powerless, while the other is a political assassination. Both are serious, but not interchangeable

I agree it won't be him, at the same time Hitler was a logical conclusion of incredibly militaristic Prussia, which was created in 1870 by Bismarck, and you can argue the origins go even further in. It's a long term play, maybe not 60-100 years as it was the case, but 15-20 easily.

It worked well enough for Putin to wait for a much weaker President to be in office before launching stage 2 the invasion proper (with stage 1 being under Obama, another weak President). The West also should have listened to and taken seriously President Trump's prophetic warning during his first term that Europe being so dependent on Russian energy was not only funding their military but seriously undermining their leverage against Russia. He was laughed at at the time by the usual clowns, and then events proved him entirely correct.

honestly these prove the opposite point... the Floyd hysteria mobs caused widespread damage to thousands of stores and streets, intentional arson of vehicles and more, mass smash-and-grab looting, etc.

The Jan 6th images of smoke are not even any kind of incendiaries, it's just crowd control gas and a few smoke devices from protestors, but zero burning. The Charlottesville tiki-torch rally was inconsequential that night, and only had violence at all when the usual Antifa druggies showed up to try and make it a fight.

No, we're talking about widespread, violent mobs from BLM that destroyed entire downtowns, countless businesses, intentionally burned and destroyed property, etc -- and it was given a pass by the left. Actually, it was excused and even applauded in the mainstream.

When you dig up some old case of a right wing bomber, you won't find that. You'll find essentially zero support for it. These things are not the same, sorry.

Anyone involved in Antifa should absolutely have their door kicked in and be facing decades in prison at this point.

In reality the far majority of "the left" denounced the violence and destruction of property, while supporting the right of peaceful protests. This goes for both various politicians and media outlets. Naturally I assume you don't believe this and no evidence I can provide you will sway you on the matter, so let's move on.

I think you're confusing "left" with "liberal." Many liberals not terminally online denounced it, but political commentators, mainstream media, social media, etc were far more tolerant and supportive of the destruction. Making excuses and downplaying the destruction is in fact supporting it, regardless of any asterisks in the statement.

I don't really consider social media to be in the real world. If I did then I'd think almost everyone is a political nut job. As for mainstream media, quite a lot of them denounced the looting and violence, just a quick ask on ChatGPT gave me a link to over a dozen articles condemning it. And supporting the peaceful protests that did happen while contextualising why it all happened does not mean supporting the looting and such. It is permissible to have a more nuanced opinion than a simple if statement.

Both are true from Kirk's moral viewpoint. MLK was an adulterer, by most morally, especially christian morals, awful. I guarantee that is the context with which Kirk said what he said about MLK. The rules around Civil Rights have become an anti-white weapon. If someone says something like kill all white people, no one really bats an eye. Saying the same but swapping white for black will cause a ton of backlash.
