so i open a file in photoshop CS and it looks totally different (darker and green) then just a windows preview. Anyone have any ideas on what is going on?

Welcome to the world of color calibration.

You should get your monitor professionally color calibrated for photoshop.

Though I've never used the CS version of Photoshop, check and see if it's set on Monitor RGB. Some file somehow changed my default setting, and for the longest time every picture I opened in PS had a purple hue.

Yeah, I have that same purple hue, but there was a time when it wasn't like that I think...dunno what to do.

Get a program like Monaco EZ Colour that can make you some icm colour profiles for your monitor. Then load that profile into photoshop.
