Please tell me that's not how they beat Sachi cause if so that is just lame as hell.
Sachi: I'm gonna kill you all now
Kuon: Not so fast I ated your teeth get in mah belly
Sachi: Ok mommy
If this were the first game Kuon would have exploded or something on the spot
Why did they build an entire game out of the worst possible section of the first game? No, I don't want a game filled with ghost chases, thank you very much. Man, being such a huge fan of the first and second games, Blood Drive is disappointing me in so many ways, it's not even funny.
absolutely zero sympathy for Misuto when he died. Dude was a total fuckhead and I got to thank Magari for that, even if she is being set up as the main villain now. Also glad to see Satsuki alive, even if she was a Parasyte this whole time.
Very necessary to play Book of Shadows, yes. The last chapter of Book of Shadows takes place 2 weeks after the true ending to the original Corpse Party, and the entirety of Blood Drive takes place 2 months after the ending to Book of Shadows.
Book of Shadows is also the better game IMHO, though opinions vary pretty widely on that.

Corpse Party: Blood Covered overall is better than those two though, how I'd rank it:
Story: Corpse Party > Book of Shadows >>> Blood Drive
Fear Factor: Corpse Party > Book of Shadows > Blood Drive (though I get scared from chase scenes)
Gameplay: Corpse Party > Blood Drive > Book of Shadows
Pacing: Corpse Party >= Blood Drive >> Book of Shadows

Oh, I totally agree. The first Corpse Party game is easily the best in the series.
...Though by "first," I mean BloodCovered or BloodCovered: Repeated Fear, not the 1996 original. I still have yet to play the 1996 original, though I do want to as some point.

Damn, I didn't even realize Sachiko was Ikue Ohtani until I checked the Soulful Testimonies. Friggin Pikachu was responsible for all the atrocities in the first game!

Now you know what Pikachu will sound like if he ever gains sentience, starts composing complete sentences like Meowth and decides to torment Ash and his friends.
I'm long overdue to get into this series. Are the first 2 games digital only? Just looked them up on PSN and they're only £8 each (+ PSTV compatible) which is awesome.

I believe they were digital only outside Japan. I rarely buy digital only unless it's like an indie but with these I made an exception. These were particularly risky titles to localize for a number of reasons.

I realized why they did that for most chapters. It's because you're taking a route you're "not supposed to". Meaning, if you go through the routes just for the story, you'll find one ghost, at most.

Oh you came in here to find a talisman to deal with that ghost in the hall? Fuck you here's another ghost. Don't get spotted by the one in hall on your way out

You should be able to get science room key from the ghost in the reference room. In the science lab is a lamp you can use with the matches in the infirmary to burn the hair

Not only was this a MUCH happier ending than I expected, the game itself was kind of lighter overall. The non-villain deaths were an admirable sacrifice from someone that was about to die naturally anyway, and some guy that was probably happier dead with his unrequited love. And then there's Sachi, the one set up as this game's Sachiko, who was responsible for a grand total of zero named deaths. And of course the fates of everyone that died in the previous games has shifted from "suffer for eternity reliving horrible deaths" to "passed on". Definitely more optimistic and less brutal than anything else in the franchise except maybe the original 96 game.
So what was the deal with Kuon's premature aging? Magari said it was a result of her utilizing her talents, but what does that mean? Did she do some dangerous product testing for her company or something? A few extra sentences could have made it so much clearer.
Speaking of Magari, I would have loved to learn more about Marutaba's Tomb and her role in it. She said she killed a lot of people before (for fun IIRC?), but was that all part of her duties there? Just one of many characters that could have been fleshed out more (Satsuki being the biggest offender even after ex chapter 7).
Also, how did Inumaru die? Did the darkening kill him and he was pretty much just running around as a soul after chapter 3? That may be how the darkening always worked, but I can't really remember.
I also love how there seems to be this whole "recording" culture for Corpse Party games going on among the voice actors based on the Soulful Testimonies. Many of them talk about how the games' infamous screaming does a number on them and stuff like that. Also found Satoshi's VA's account amusing with his "can we please find a less creepy studio to record in for the next game?" request.
Still have to review it, so can't go into detailed opinions beyond that.

Overall yes its a lighter ending then expected only because of Yoshiki's actions I think, but there was still tons of death happening and Sachi herself was the one able to lure the majority of Marutaba tomb people to the Nirvana.
I think Kuon's aging was just what Magari said litterally in that she aged so much by putting her all into the research to advance life for all that she caused tons of stress to herself with the experiments also.
Magari just had devotion the murataba's tomb because they took her in at a young age so she got involved in it all heavily, I think Satsuki is also just straightforward.
Inumaru probably died from the school itself not the darkening, my only confusion with Inumaru is not how he died its how he let Miwa live.
Kizami doesn't get the end he deserves. He gets knocked out by Satoshi and then we never see or hear from him again. At least I can keep my head canon of him being endlessly pummeled and stabbed by Kurosaki, Tohko, and Mitsuki's ghosts lol

how does yoshiki know that that Anatomical Model existed before it started chasing him? When Yoshiki first meets up with Ayumi again in the Nirvana he says that the model is persistent and that he kinda hints he knew of its existence before it started chasing him. But in Corpse Party true end he avoids even meeting it to live.
The EX chapters aren't really necessary but they'll add color and character depth and some stuff that comes out of left field in the upcoming games may have relevance with them. Some characters play a role in Book of Shadows whose only presence in the first game are in the EX chapters, for instance.
I believe you can knock them out in about an hour so as they're pretty quick.
To add to what UberTag said: yes, it really is only about an hour to get through every single extra chapter... but you wouldn't know it playing the first, as the first is easily the longest. It could take you a half-hour just to clear that one... and then the second is 5 minutes long... and then the remaining eight are like, 2-3 minutes each.
The extra chapters get a lot longer in Blood Drive, though -- sometimes unnecessarily long, in fact!

it was possible albeit very difficult to escape the science lab after examining the anatomical model. Or maybe it was a nod to the original game? I think that was a mandatory encounter
Man, that first EX Chapter was messed up. And I had to stay up late to finish it, too. More disturbing than anything in the first three chapters of the game.
