Can someone confirm that the PS3 version does not use any type of online pass system that other EA games use?

No online pass. The only code I put in was for the unlocks for the Limited Edition (gun skin, level 5 rank).

Fucking finally:

Be Free... Be Creative... Be the Developer

An open letter to the Crytek Modding Community.

Hello to all of you.

Here at Crytek we value our community, and we love what you do with our engine. In recent times our focus has been heavily on the development of Crysis 2, however our modding community has been, and remains, very important to us.

So, I wanted to tell you about our plans for supporting you in the future with some really exciting news, which I want to share with you now. Modding with the most powerful game engine is coming back!

We want to see what you guys can do with CryENGINE 3 and we hope we'll be as amazed with the things you create as we have been over the past few years. This time around, we're going to do things in a different way - offering you the right tools to achieve your vision.

First of all, we will be launching an Editor for Crysis 2 early in summer. This will allow you to build new maps, items and more custom content for Crysis 2. For teams looking for even more creative freedom, we have another option: The free CRYENGINE SDK.
Be Free

In August 2011 we will be launching a free CryENGINE SDK. If you want to use it for fun, like all our previous MOD SDKs it will be completely free of charge, to anyone who wants to play with it! You just register, download the SDK with a personalized license key and you're good to go!
Be Creative

We'll be giving you access to the latest, greatest version of CryENGINE 3 - the same engine we use internally, the same engine we give to our licensees, the same engine that powers Crysis 2.

This will be a complete version of our engine, including C++ code access, our content exporters (including our LiveCreate real-time pipeline), shader code, game sample code from Crysis 2, script samples, new improved Flowgraph and a whole host of great asset examples, which will allow teams to build complete games from scratch for PC.
Be The Developer

With all this power in your hands - we know you're going to do some amazing things with the engine, so we're working out how best to support you.

We'll also be sharing our documentation with you, which is written by the developers of the engine, and we'll be giving you a new and improved crymod.com. We'll update the Free CryENGINE SDK regularly, to make sure you have access to all the advances we make to CryENGINE 3.

If you want to use it to make a game to launch commercially, we'd like to help you with that. If you want to take your product down a traditional commercial route, we will offer an innovative low cost licensing model if you want to release your game digitally.

If you're looking to use CryENGINE for non-gaming purposes, we'll have a per-seat business model for the engine - please enquire at mycryengine.com for further details.

So to go over the details again:

Our next release will be the Crysis 2 Editor, this is for those of you who want to create content for Crysis 2. In August 2011, we will launch our Free CryENGINE SDK for all of you who want to create totally new content on CryENGINE 3. If you just want to make fun, free projects, you can do that free of charge. If you want to try and commercialise your game, we'll be here to help you with that.

I truly value the contribution you have all made to our company and I hope we can continue giving back to you in future.

All the best,

When I bought a game (Deadspace) the price was automaticly adjusted, so I don't think you need anything extra (promo code)?

I've gone through to the final step of the checkout process, and the total does not reflect a 50% discount.

Either I'm missing something, or I'm a little slow this morning.

Edit: Oh, Europe. Slow it is.

Just finished this game.

-Hands down the best looking FPS I have ever played
-The AI was actually pretty tough. Sometimes guys would get stuck in walls and just let me kill them, but for the most part the enemies were tough.
-I am not sure what everyone means about this game not being open. There are a lot of open spaces and multiple ways to deal with situations.

Crysis2 is the best shooter on the 360 right now.

You obviously haven't played a truly open game. Going left or right or moving 5ft in the other direction to snipe instead of a rush attack is not open.

Fantastic shooter, definitely the best one I've played this year. Over Killzone, Bulletstorm and Homefront (lol).

But it's no Crysis, and while it's too bad they couldn't surpass the predecessor, it's still a damn fine game.

The comparisons are obviously to the first game. Crysis 2 feels much more linear in comparison, even more linear than Warhead. The open spaces are smaller, and the multi-pronged approaches are still each set up linearly.

They traded openness for big event pieces and better story involvement (even though the story is convoluted). I enjoyed the single player of C2 more than the original because I felt it engaged me more. Sure, it limited what I could do more than Crysis 1, but I enjoyed doing what it allowed me to more than I did in the original.

Played the game for about an hour this morning and I'm already enjoying the game way more than Bulletstorm and Killzone 3.

I never really liked Crysis 1 the the open world was just so boring. I find the level design better in this one not totally linear and not totally open world. Its a good hybrid between both worlds.

I must be the only one that actually thought bulletstorm's story was pretty good at the end, their was actual character development in a game published by epic, go figure.

Killzone 3...yeeeah. Crysis 2 I will say is suprisingly fun.

You're not. I could have done with out the cliffhanger but in general I thought it was a good video game story, it drove the action and had some clever dialogue.

Making my way through a second time(on super duper difficulty now) got to level 8 and it's finally running out of steam for me. It's too bad the AI doesn't have more to offer because the game is REALLY excellent.

Replaying it is really fun, there are different ways to make it through most encounters(some completely different) and generally knowing what to anticipate where allows for a much better control of what's going on around you.

Best shooter of the year thus far(which admittedly isn't saying much right now)... AI really keeps it back from being an all time classic.

But the level design is the best I've seen on this gen. of consoles. Honestly, what else even comes close? COD/Killzone and all its clones are out for obvious reasons. Halo is a lot more about playing around with enemy and weapon variety and the AI. There are some great, big sandboxes, but we're talking about level design specifically, that's always more in the background. Gears is bland and forgettable, they throw in a couple of scenarios for coop, but even that mostly fails. Half Life/Bioshock are visually brilliant, but not mechanically. I guess Far Cry 2 and Metro and such are left... but really there's no need to dissect the genre further. Crysis 2 is king.

I thought BS story was really cheesy and cliched but I didn't really care because I never took the game seriously anyway.

I totally agree. When it comes to combat encounters Crysis 2 is the best. But man, comparing COD LD to KZ2 is unfair for KZ2 some parts of the game were really open and well designed on the other the LD of COD is just awful. Bioshock LD is great mechanically it doesn't only do a great way to guide the player through the level only but the encouter could be tackeled from different angles and the enviroment is filled with ways to deal with the enemies.
It will be great to create Crysis 2 levels once the editor is out. Untill that I'll be creating Gears of war levels.... ugh.

This bug was fixed weeks ago : ). I can personally confirm.

Didn't seem to fix the problem for me when I tried the previous patch. Granted, I didn't play the game very much.

Also, when I start Crysis 2 today, I don't get any update. Hm.

Nope, I thought it was pretty good. Some seem to thing, a complicated mess of a story equals good or better than something easy to follow.

Baraka in the White House

2-Terms of Kombat
Fired the game up and getting 40-60 fps on extreme with stereo 3D jacked up as high as it will go. I still can't max out the first game.

You're learning, Crytek.

So far it's fun and absolutely beautiful.

Have you tried to reload the last level that you have reached from scratch and not simply from the last quicksave?

I have just had my suit rebooted after being
captured by the military after meeting Gould.

I am struggling to keep playing, is it worth it to go forward? How much longer is left in the game? I feel like it's dragging, and the aliens are kind of scary to fight against at night with headphones on.

Has anyone else been having this glitch in MP (360 version), where changing to your pistol during a reload results in you finishing the reload animation before changing your weapon, yet if you take out your primary weapon again, you still need to reload it?

It's gotten me killed countless times, and results in the pistols being more or less useless for me.
