Okay, I got a good laugh when you get your hacking gun back after
being modified for "game balance purposes"
, especially since it reminds me of (DR2 spoilers)
DR2's big twist at the end
.

.....though is there a reason that I'll find out later as to why "that" character is called Servant when we know the name of said character?

Edit: Man, I seriously dig the design of everyone's eyes/pupils.

It's because he is acting as a Servant.

That's pretty much it.

Aaahh, okay. I guess that makes sense.

Also Jataro is..............annoying. These introductions for the Warriors of Hope is weird, considering you have the option for a different intro, but then you continue the cutscene & they pretty much tell you most of what it is you just watched from the special cutscene intro. Was it just to make it easier for replaying so you wouldn't have to watch as many cutscenes or something?

I think Jataro is the funniest of the bunch. Normally such drawn out voice acting would bother me, but the VA is really nailing the character IMO.

The voice acting across the board as been excellent so far.

So wait. If the Warriors of Hope want to make a paradise only with kids.................wouldn't Komaru technically be safe because she's not really an adult? I mean, she's in high school, so she's probably, what, 16? Yeah, it's older than the Warriors of Hope, but still not actually an adult, despite the kids calling her one.

SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF RUIoh hey a
Monster Hunter
reference lol

I will say, so far in this prologue, this sense of dread/despair has been very consistant compared to the previous games.

There's the year and a half she was locked up to consider as well, but I also wasn't expecting them to call her an adult.

(I like how the two of us are pretty much exactly in the same place right now, though I assume we'll diverge fairly soon.)

They're Elementary/Early Middle School kids, high school kids basically are adults to them. They gave he 'a chance' to show whether she was bad yet or not and she failed by her reaction to their massacre game.

They address the fact that they're teenagers and not full on adults pretty explicitly in the game. You guys are playing a Danganronpa game; you're far too early in it to be questioning stuff like that.

Fair enough, I guess. Perhaps they figure she's "close enough" to being an adult or something, but considering the premise was always involving high schoolers, that just stuck out as odd to me, but yeah, her reaction as well also played a role as to why they want to hunt her down.

Not sure if I'll be able to complete Ch. 1 tonight. At the very least wanna get the Prologue finished (which should be soon, I think). Will try to keep my Vita in sleep mode so I don't risk that save data glitch.

Haha, good point. Takes a while for the bigger twists to happen & questions to be answered.

.........though considering a certain line from Kotoko, I fear I already have an idea of her backstory...

Is there a consensus on what's the better camera option? I'm just baffled that running is stuck on O since it makes manual useless, but auto's kinda disorienting.

There's been two lines so far that stuck out to me. :x

I've been using Manual. It's been fine for me so far, though yeah, I can it see it being a pain when trying to run at the same time.

What was the other line that stuck out?

I've been using manual. They're both pretty bad, but at least manual gave me more control of what I was seeing than automatic.

I feel like we should spoiler this at this point, just in case?
I'm assuming the one you're thinking of was the one about pedophiles. When the Warriors first show up on the broadcast she also randomly talks "kiddy porn" or something like that.

Yeah, that was the line I was thinking of, though WTF, I didn't hear that during that scene. I'll have to unlock it to go back & see if I can hear it or catch it in the subtitles, but I think that cements my fear of what we're going to discover later on.

HOLY SHIT, THE FANTASY SECTIONS, I LAUGHING SO HARD. Bravo, Feep, bravo.

For some reason I already forget what kind of scene it was, but if it was only a voiced cutscene, I'm playing with the Japanese voices (and subs). So it might have been translated differently? Dunno.

That line is there in the English dub.

....I see the game took inspiration from No More Heroes for its save points....

So wait, when do I get to spend Monokuma coins & unlock content like music & such? Do I gotta beat the game first?

You can buy weapon upgrades during the game. Cutscene/music/CG unlocks open up after you beat the game.

How do I activate the Japanese dub DLC? I downloaded and installed it but I don't see a way to enable it in options.

This game feels like survival horror as opposed to a basic shooter. The limited resources, the puzzles, the jump scares. (
Junk Monokuma anyone?
) Not to mention the obvious oppressive atmosphere and story.

The puzzle rooms/challenges are my favourite aspect of the gameplay so far.

Well, I beat the game.

Honestly, I didn't enjoy the game all that much. The first three chapters were real, real slow for me. I enjoyed chapter 5 the most, it definitely picked up, but by then the repetitive nature of the game had had an effect on me.

Overall I find the story pretty weak. Again, chapter 5 picked up a bit from the rest of the game but overall I found myself not caring much about the plot. I really disliked the child antagonists, and I'm not happy about the implication that (ending spoilers)
Monica at the very list will return in future games
. I'm not looking forward to that, to be honest.

The moment-to-moment dialogue, though, is pretty good. And it was fun to see Toko and Komaru interact. On that level at least the writing is enjoyable. The Toko Fantasy stuff with Byakuya was pretty goddamn hilarious, too.

Visually the game looks great, no complains here.

Also, the controls in general need a lot of work. Combat is really clunky as it is now. Some sort of quick 180 (like RE4) would have done wonders, as would faster aiming in general.

Overall I’m pretty disappointed with the game after adoring the first two games. The story wasn't up-to-par, and the gameplay wasn't nearly as interesting to me as, say, the trails in the first two games. Had I not been out of town this week with nothing else to play I might have stopped playing it half way through or something.

Playing on despair difficulty I would agree. I'm always low on my darn Break bullets and at times have gotten close to 0.

The major thing that prevents this from having the tension of a survival horror game is Toko. In any moment you're truly in despair, you just press that button and it's all good.

Though, I didn't do a playthrough on Despair mode (just did a few encounters on that difficulty), I never was close to running out of batteries because I wanted to rely on Komaru as much as possible.

I've pretty much stayed away from resorting to Toko right now. I think after doing my first playthrough of just Komaru (or at least as much as humanly possible), I'll do another one focusing on Toko.

Doesn't Toko hurt your rank though? I thought I read something like that so I pretty much never use her. That might be why I'm so low -___-.

Me too. I asked earlier and someone replied that the Sony servers haven't been updated with trophy info.

I saw a thing that said to restore system and I lost all the trophies previously unlocked, although they are in my notifications.

Did the restore system work or should I wait for Sony? I am also getting this error.

She might. I honestly lost interest in that when I couldn't find any of the Warriors of Hope tags strewn about the environment, and when I was messing up the puzzle rooms. I feel like the game shouldn't penalize you for pressing retry of your own volition.

I just got this game since it takes places between 1 & 2, should I play this one or D2 first?

While DR:AE does not outright spoil DR2, there is absolutely zero reason to play DR:AE first. Well, I still think that because of DR:AE's ending, playing it before DR2 could be very interesting, but I still always say to play it in the order of release.

This is exactly how I feel, minus the
Monaca returning thing.

I really didn't like the antagonists. Monaca was the exception, and only in the ending I grew to like her.

I found the story to be really weak, filled with useless exposition. Danganronpa games, being visual novels, are always full of text, but they never seemed as meaningless and repetitive as this one was for me.

I really hope DR3 sticks to the murder mysteries instead of the real world thing.

Wow, can't even open the Trophies app while this game is running. You guys weren't kidding about not being able to open anything else while this game is playing.

& chapters seem to be rather long, as I thought I was at the end of Ch. 1, considering what happened/a special cutscene played, but no, still continuing on. Guess I'll have to see if I can finish it during my break at work.

Hint:
Look at the order of the paintings and compare it to the drawing on the safe.

match the number of the picture to its design on the clue by the safe

uuuuuhhhh.... what hours said

Omg thank you. I was going insane.
the guys with hair and beard both had numbers in their names while the other two looked like they had numbers drawn on them so I was completely lost lol

chapter 4 spoilers:

Nagito said he hated Junko yet he was on of the Remnants of Despair and took her arm.

I don't get this.

You don't want an answer to this now, but what you're saying applies to DR2; the character said the exact same stuff in that game, too. The answer is clear, though, and is perfectly in line with their contradictory nature.

He hates Junko, yet you could say that at the same time she loves her because if she's the worst despair of them all then to Nagito that just means that the strongest of hopes will be born because of overcoming her despair. That said I'm not done with the game so I dunno if they actually specify on that later but that's the way I see it.

There's something very important that you're missing that you'll probably realize at the end.
