I wanted him from way back when, but he's getting up there in age. It'd be CGI regardless so maybe.

Something about how Ed Harris plays baddies makes them weirdly affable. Even in A History of Violence where he doesn't have a hint of nobility, he's kinda charming when creeping on the family. Playing a despot like Darkseid, I could see him being a cruel but charismatic leader.

I've said before I just wanted him to play any villain, but that makes a ton of sense.

He was rumored to be Flagg's dad.

Viggo Mortensen was rumored to be Zod and then Mettalo.

Idris and Denzel were being looked for Luthor.

I want to see that alternate universe's DC films.

He is picky about what films he does of late, pretty much just dramas for the last decade, he hasn't done a blockbuster type of film in a very long time. He wouldn't do a movie like this. No chance in hell. Especially not something as mocked critically as the DCEU. Maaaaaaybe MCU (even then slim chances at best), but DCEU? No chance.

Anyone who would do something MCU would also do something DCEU. Marvel's yet to pull any actors or directors thought to be unattainable for big roles. DC has Ben Affleck, Will Smith, Viola Davis, and Jared Leto coming off an Oscar win. Mel Gibson turned down his boy RDJ, but is at least considering Suicide Squad.

I don't see anything to suggest Harris wouldn't do one of these. It's been said already, but dude was in a Bay movie not long ago. He's also in an upcoming disaster movie starring Leonidas. Whose picture is that? Warner Bros... Who he also just worked with for Westworld... Who also handles the DC movies.

Eesh, that Bay thread is a rough read. Hopkins says Bay is a genius and a savant and GAF attacks the comment like it somehow means every other director just got shit on, lol. Bunch of nerds.
