Dead Rising 2 |OT|: He knows his way around a zombie or two.

Why isn't today Tuesday? I just finished Case Zero and have DR2 preloaded on my PC. Today would have been a perfect time to go through the game and ease my zombie-killing mood. =(

I think I ran into a progression stopping bug.

At Case file 2-2, where you need to jump on the train with the motorcycle. After about 4 seconds into the sequence, a NPC floats through the train and it just ends. No matter what I do it just happens. I don't even get a chance to reach a ramp. This is a really frustrating sequence and it's ruining the fun time I was having.

OK, I've took out all of the
Hunters
except for
Deetz, on top of the cinema.
How do I reach him? I found a way up to a ledge just beneath and in front of him, but guns do such a pitiful amount of damage, there must be a way if getting up to his level and being able to melee him to death.

Level, combo and scratch cards, outfits you've worn (I had waitress/hunter/bowler). That's all I got I think. Nothing for a Dead Rising 1 save.

I was only on a bike twice- once in the online mode and once in story. Both seemed better, but still kinda "slidy". They basically handle the same as the bike in the first game.
Money collected in Case Ø doesn't transfer over?

I got lucky and batted him to death when he drove himself stuck in a corner in my original playthrough. Other than that:
try baiting him into hitting a wall (easier if you've unlocked the roll) so that he's briefly stunned or try hitting him with your own bike (but that's the extremely tedious way).

I think it is always the same number (Around 80,000) at least it was for me.
I started out with $ 14 000 or so without having played Case Zero.

Just finished the game
on overtime mode, that zombie that pops up out of no where at the end scared the shit out of me
:lol

Tell me about it.....the first time I completed Overtime Mode and saw that I nearly had a damn heart attack! Freaked me out! :lol

What do I have to do for that woman who wants
you to bring a plant to her? I went to the art gallery she told me to go to, picked up a potted plant by the front door (that's what the arrow seemed to be pointing at), and brought it back, yet she just keeps asking me to go fetch the plant she wants.
Did I pick up the wrong thing?

It's the smaller plant you're after. Pan something.

Thanks. :)

Also, quick question; do achievements like filling the notebook/killing zombies stack this time round, or do you have to do it in one playthrough again, like Dead Rising 1?

Oh, and how do I get Chuck's default clothes back?

Favorite survivor so far?

Tammy the Mermaid! Just dropping here somehwere and leaving her flapping to get mauled by zombies never get's old :lol

Glad you now have an icon above survivors to show when they are in the catchment area for going through doors.

Still wished that they gave you a list of survivors names and health bars down the left hand side, instead of just their little mini icons, as I find they always bunch up on top of each other rendering it pretty pointless. Should have had both.

He didn't get banned for that, did he? And I'm ridiculously jealous of every country but america playing this right now :lol

Are the in-game dates for the three days in which the game takes place the same for all regions? I noticed that the first day is September 24th, which was DR2's release date here in the UK.

I wonder if it's just coincidence.

One easyish way to do it:
- Get Lead Pipes (x2 or x3), can be found in Silver Strip and Maintenance Room behind the sex store (Intimate Encounters?) in Silver Strip.

- Get Rocket Fireworks (x2 or x3) from rocket stall in the middle of Silver Strip.

- Do not combine them!

- Head back to the central outdoor area, look on the map for the save point in the middle, there will be a maintenance room next to the save point. (Kind of near the south end of Atalantica Casino) Head there.

- The save point and maintenance room are in a little valley / corridor between two big rocks.

- Use the maintenance room to combine Lead Pipes + Rocket Fireworks = Rocket Launcher

- The bike guy will make constant runs through this corridor, clearing out any zombies, stop, turn around and come back for more.

- Stand near/on the steps next to the save room and unload on the bike guy, dodge as he approaches, rinse repeat. (It will makes sense / you'll see what I mean)

- Make more rocket launchers as required.

- Voila

Is there an estimate on how long it would take to reach lvl 50?

Depends on how you went about getting PP points?

Gamer @ Heart said:
I would hate to hit the max level long before I complete the achievements.

You probably will, but you really shouldn't stress on this. Or just restart a new game whilst achievement whoring?

Seems like an odd stance to take to me, though I guess it's the equivalent of hitting the level cap in Fallout 3... though you don't get experience for normal zombie kills anyway, right? Only landmark (50/100/200/300/500/1000/etc.) and for using the combo weapons with cards?

I dunno, doesn't make sense to me -- I loved being level 50 in the original. Made it so I could concentrate on shit like Otis's phone calls (eff you, Otis, I DID answer them all) or trying to rescue everyone without having the challenge be out of this world.

To each their own... I can't wait for my game to come in now! :D

Wonder if anyone in here has used the GS ninja costume yet? I'm stoked to try it out... I hope they don't screw me out of my code.

Think we have a mis-communication? Sorry if I wasn't clear.

It all seems it works the same way as in DR1.

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times but I didn't see it in the OP... is there split-screen/local co-op? Or is it online only?

Online only, unfortunately.

Damn. Will pick up on Steam sale later on then. I wasn't a big fan of the first game, but I'm a whore for killing zombies, so I'm sure I'll find the urge at some point.

:D

As with the first though, I've only scratched the surface with achievements and such. Cannot wait to revisit Fortune City. =D Might dig into some more Terror is Reality though first.

EDIT: Just earnt about $500k from TIR. Xbox froze during game, and I had to turn it off. Nice to know the game remembers how much money you make in between earning it and cashing it out. I thought for some reason it wouldn't =P

has anyone managed to get a co op game running on ps3 yet?
Some random British kid joined my game yesterday. He must have been like 10 :lol
I booted him before long because I had to go though.
Some other random guy tried to join later, but I refused as I was working on something.

So yeah, it works.

In co-op are you tied to the same section of the map? Or how does it work?

I haven't tried it yet as want to finish the main story first, plus my internets capped for the next few days.

Just one thing to bear in mind, you start the game at the bottom of level 5 if you import your DR2:CZ save. I grinded to the top of 5 before I finished CZ for no reason. The bike handles a little better, more fun to use at least.

so... i've still not been able to get co op to work on the ps3... either by trying to wait to join someone else - or by having the option set to public in my game?

I'm assuming co op / online is broken as i can't find a single game in TIR online.

Or, i guess, DR2 Bomba?

has anyone managed to play co op on ps3 yet.

tried a couple of other games online and they worked fine so my connection would appear to be ok.

This is absolutely one of my favourite games of the year so far. It's obvious so much care and attention to detail has gone into this from Blue Castle. I doubted them for a long time but if anything this is even better than DR1. I've completed it twice so far and still haven't seen or done everything and only have about 260 gamerpoints. Replayability is insane.

It was only late on in my second game that I realized you can actually ride around the park and strips in that hamsterball, I had somehow totally missed it up til then. And there's just little touches everywhere, like how you can just burn ever increasing amounts of money in one of the casinos so Chuck feels 'cleansed' and get Pyromaniac bonuses, or play strip poker with the survivors at the safehouse. And some of the weapon combinations are brilliant. At first the psychopaths can feel cheap and unfair like DR1, but when you start thinking about the environment and all the different weapons you have at your disposal you can usually come up with an appropriate tactic to make them easier. I'll spoilertag this but a weapon I would recommend everyone know about is

flashlight + gems = lightsabre

Bravo Blue Castle.

Yeah that's just you man.

Different posters in this thread already stated it works on PS3. I've played coop and did plenty of TiR games.

I thought that weapon in particular was pretty useless. I found it much easier to use

Tenderizers -
MMA Gloves + Nails
Knife Gloves -
Boxing Gloves + Bowie Knife

Mainly cos they're so fast and do so much damage. The weapon you mentioned was pretty slow in my experience.

THANK FUCK CHUCK CAN RUN FAST, btw.

I only have one question, if i hated Dead Rising 1 ... am i able to like this? I still love the idea of an zombie infested area, but i really hated the gameplay in general from Dead Rising 1, especially the save system.

But i want to like this .. i need a demo.

If you're on 360, download the Case Zero trial. If not, and you didn't like DR1, you won't be swayed much more with DR2.

Personally I prefer the good old nail bat. It's good for crowd control.

The game can feel pretty rough around the edges, but I'm loving every gore-soaked minute of it.

For those that have finished it: is there some kind of free-roam available after you beat the game. That's one thing I missed about DR1, survival mode forced you to defeat psychos and look for food. I want to take my time and really soak in the environments on my own time.

Yeah, so did I. but I just find for the Psychopaths in partciular, that they are much more faster than the bat. And less risky.

Play a round of TIR and buy some zombrex at the pawn shop. One round nets you about 50k.
And no the chef doesn't have zombrex.
