God, the psychopath battles are so infuriating. And I don't mean that in a good way. They're just frustrating and not fun.

Agreed, I came damn close of tossing the controller and telling the game to fuck itself after trying the chef battle like 10 times. There's like no real strategy involved, he acts random with no real pattern and often times really really cheap. That compounded with the fact that combat range is very very deceptive, it was just bullshit.

Any idea how to get inside the movie theater? Beat the game and its still locked.
I haven't entered it myself, but I got the impression that the door appears to be synced with the movie times on the marquee outside (1:00pm, 3:00pm, etc).

Finished this today. Got the S ending by completing OT.

I feel like I rushed through the game because of the strict time-limits on the cases. I think I will use the Restart Game save and only do the Story cases, ignoring the survivors, so I have more time to venture out and explore the world.

Awesome game!

The CURE dude is the hardest psycho fight I've experienced so far. His timing is really tight, he's fast, and he actually does A LOT of damage. It was a pretty grueling battle.

Yeah, I had retry that part three times before I succeeded. Ran to the Americana and got the broadsword right at the entrance. It surprisingly does a good amount of damage. I only attacked when he would do the jump attack and has to recover. Only took a few minutes.

I got so scared during that fight cause I had just beaten Leon (using a glitch that i took advantage of) and did not save it before then. I had two survivors with me (redneck couple) armed with some swinging items, and I had a shotgun. Came really close to dying but I was cheering when I put him down.

How the FUCK... do you beat the
Chef.

Me and a buddy tried to do this three times and would get oh so close and then FUCKED!!! lol
Should happen in the same window as
when the bank robbers are trying to bust into casino vaults.
1. Hit up the heist at the Americana and get 3 Assault Rifles.
2. Do the Silver Strip Rock Concert mission, give those guns to the 3 band members.
3. Go to the chef mission with them in tow and he will last about 5 seconds.
Bonus:
4. Rescue the guy and gal from that mission, go to the Yucatan to break up that heist, get 2 more ARs to give to them.
5. Go do the Slappy fight at Palisades for similar results.

Just whatever you do, don't try to tackle the Wedding mission with any survivors thinking the pattern will repeat. The guy there will fuck their shit up badddd.

You know the key to that?

Get in the door to the restroom and just wait.

He can only come at you from one angle, at which case you can just step to the side when he charges and slash at his back.

kind of cheesy but i think you can get a rich friend to join your game and buy all the vehicle unlocks for you then have him quit without saving :lol i bought someone the sport car and suv keys :)

for whatever reason his two chicks with swords mission was bugged so bad.. they would just teleport behind you so you couldn't heal at all.. he told me he quit playing the game for a while because he couldn't beat it. we somehow managed to kill them; it only took me using 9 quickstep drinks :lol :lol :lol

I fought him after
I met the mercenaries
and took their guns. The cure dude went down really easily, you dont even have to bother memorizing his pattern.

I have this theory that, if you are not killing the psychopaths easily, then you are doing something wrong. There's always a good weapon to counter the psychopaths.

I just spent an hour trying to beat the survivors in Poker. Any tips? The poker match with Nevada, Jessica and Jacob.
The only tip I can give aside from standard Poker tips is that they bluff a lot. Bluff back.

As for all this psycho talk, I thought they were unbelievably hard the first time I fought one (never played DR1 so this is all new to me)... but then I got accustomed to using some high-damage combo weapons that you can't drop (aka no heavy weapons), such as the Defiler and it's a whole new game. Just bring like 4 Coffee Creamers and a Defiler and I'm pretty much set in any of the psycho battles.. especially if you have the Combo Card for it. The hits during the whirlwind move deal massive damage.

What's best for the
security guard
at South Plaza? I can't seem to find a good strategy for him.

the only survivor worth beating is
jack
other than that, i just played it safe until i got a sizable pool of money. from there you can call all their all-ins and it seemed like a 50/50 chance to win

Although I have already done it by essentially cheating (he got stuck and couldn't do anything, what is the proper way to kill Leon? (use spoilers if necessary, please)

his police baton doesn't do a lot of damage so just engage him close range. a good strategy is to use the bathroom right by there to heal and then roll out and melee attack him, roll back into the bathroom to heal and just attack him again

i'd probably come in with 3 bats and a bunch of OJ. you'll only need 1 bat to kill him but he knocks stuff out of your hands with his six shooter which is annoying

Does anyone know if you miss saving
Lenny after the Ted + Snowflake fight if you can go and save him later on? I just finished the case where you save Rebecca from the sword wielding psycho chicks and forgot that I saw Lenny briefly during the start of the Ted + Snowflake battle.

you can save him later on. I did so with both him and some other survivors. Even if you break the barrier for some and walk away, they will still survive.

you are a bit late to it, I think. Lenny will give you the passkey on day two or something and that's without any mission information. Also, you can then use the passage from silver strip to the casino to enter the poker room directly. And that game will get you a ridiculous amount of money

btw, do the special buy items carry over between plays?

I think you're supposed to lure him into hitting walls and then hitting him from behind. I just got behind the railing and killed him with long melee weapons. I had 4-5 survivors that were hitting him too and just hoped for the best.

I think someone mentioned waiting for him to do donuts or something then hitting him but I'm not sure.

There's two basic ways to fight Leon: Either just dodge him in an open area until he stops to pose (at which point you hit him and then run away) or get him to run in to walls.

You absolutely do not want to fight him in the fake canyon with the maintenance tunnel. It's not a bad idea to go there to make the electric rake, but staying there means any wall he hits he will quickly shake out of. Fighting him next to the canyon is not a bad idea.

If you're fighting him in an open area, he's vulnerable (though still dangerous) when doing donuts, too.

which is why you should wear gloves and time your dodgeroll to him. Also, you should use food on two health instead of one, because otherwise he is going to hit you and it's game over. He's a real pushover on higher levels though.

PIGGYPIGGYPIGGYEEEE

probably the best scenes for the psychopaths in this game

Haha. That absolutely happened to me last night. I had two survivors in tow, I hadn't saved in awhile and I checked the map and saw a save point very close. I run over there and suddenly - cut scene! Oh no. Psycopath rocked my survivors and then killed me. Whoops. oh well. Try and try again.

Woohoo I can finally post again! Man it sucks being banned, even if it was only for a week.

Finished my second playthrough earlier this week, level 50 and all. Now I'm playing my third playthrough, and I've ignored the case files and giving Katey Zombrex. Yes you can let Katey turn and the game won't end!

If anybody needs any tips, or wants a coop partner for a bit, I'll be happy to help.

Bring a few survivors with you, equip them with shotguns, take the 'survivors are more efficient book in the
One Little Duck casino on the Silver Strip
and set a waypoint in the corner ( LT + Y ) when fighting the dude in South Plaza. Watch them blast away at his ugly face, while you beat the shit out of him.

That one was the worst too.
His shard does 1 square each time and there's no real dodge move.
Or there wasn't when I got to him.

There is, but you have to unlock it ( dodge roll ). He is one of the few survivors you can leave in the bathroom while you go out and pick up food and weapons and he'll still be there when you get back. Not so hard at all, some of you are overthinking this game too much. You have so much freedom in this game it's crazy really.

The time limits really... really get in the way of that freedom :[

I was under the impression that the hostage might die if I left. But I was able to take care of him either way.

Depends on what you want to do. You can completely ignore Katey and the case files.

Which is what makes it so great. You could just save survivors, you could just save Katey, I think you have to save Katey to do the cases though, but you could do none of the above, or attempt all of them.

It's a wonderful hybrid of free-roaming and structured gameplay. The time limit is crucial to the play though, because otherwise there wouldn't be any reason to play. Sandbox can get boring with no goal.

man that fight was annoying, and Im at lvl 46 :(

Which boss are you talking about? The overtime boss?

In that case :

There is a lead pipe on the elevated part where you start, and some food around there too. Beat him twice with the lead pipe, dodge roll. If he starts running at you, use that too. Use the melee move where you jump and kick him with both feet. It's not that hard really, I killed him at lvl 38 or something. If he jumps off the platform it's time to start spinning that crank to keep Katey and the other girl from being eaten.

I didn't use any weapons, he would take them away from me, so I just used the moves I learned.

Wait, I went game over when the time limit ran out on one of my case files. You're saying that you can just keep playing when you don't give Katey Zombrex or when you ignore a case file? I'm lost here.

I let Katey die on my first playthrough so I could play properly on my second or third, knowing boss locations and other events. The game is inmense.

go left at the start, pick up the tool (weapon) and the 2x4's, don't forget to pick up orange juice. There or two or three in total. Don't wait for him to do the flares, just pick up what you need and get back.

Return to center, wait for him to either make a double swing (avoid being caught in it) and hit him at the end of that animation. You can get one or two strikes in at him, then he will charge at you. The only way I found to avoid it, was the dodgeroll. Just dodge when he comes running and he will miss and you can get another swing at him when's done doing that.
He will then either go for double swing or leave the arena for a short while, giving you time to do your thing (heal, use the machine). When he reenters the arena he will show in the camera when you are operating the machine. Do an immediate dodge roll when you see him to avoid damage.

repeat.

I found this to be an easier fight than the one before it.

Zeitgeister said:

Yeah it was a bitch. I couldn't figure it out so in the end I killed him by chucking Defilers and Spiked Bats at him :lol

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
I love when you get on a role in this game. I nearly lost it all
at the drilling. I was beating on the armored truck with a lightsaber with literally 6 minutes to go until I lost...Slappy wasted a lot of my time.
But now I feel great with the position I got into afterwards,
because I took out the mailman(got zombrex), the groom, and the twins in one feel swoop.
Then to top it off, my speed went up a second time! I'm only level 23, so I feel like I got lucky regarding that.

Yes. It clearly states this after a game over?

You get the following options

Load
Restart Story
Continue Game

So... just select continue? No time limits from Case Files or Katey at all.
